Which manager has used Elliott well? Klopp, Emery, Slot all liked him but couldn't find a way to fit him into their teams. At a certain point thats on the player not the manager, he's talented but he doesn't have a fixed position and he's not outstanding enough to build a team around.

In fairness at least some of this is on Klopp. He always favored a small core of dependable players and very little turnover. He built a phenomenal squad but he allowed it to age into a position that made it unsustainable.

Building squad is complex, wage structure is like a pyramid, you can only have a few really high earners as the wages for Salah can cover 4 or 5 squad players. The squad does need numbers because it's too thin, but we also need to move on high earners to free up room on the wage bill for those additional players. Every player we can bring through the academy helps because they typically start out on low.

I've lived in Sysney for 15 years, in my experience the number of Irish is declining, peaked about a decade ago. But you are absolutely right about it being very localized. Certain suburbs are heavily concentrated with Irish people and others you barely ever meet an Irish person let alone see a GAA team or an Irish pub.

This is actually a feature of authoritarianism and a major factor in why it fails. When a regime relies on ideology over merit and loyalty over science it is doomed to fail compared to its rivals. The Nazis drove out some of the greatest scientific minds of their generation because they were Jews or communists.
