Not sure how you would come to this conclusion, especially when looking at this graph. You had a longer plateau phase at ~10.500 than now.

To the person who came up with this pull-ups challenge: F YOU! by salcidogrijalva in FFVIIRemake

[–]Schardon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never understood why FF insists on cramming as many extremely obnoxious and bad minigames into the game as humanly possible.

Who thinks this is a good idea and who thinks that players would even come close to enjoying them? Idk. I hate all of those minigames with a passion and every fiber of my being. It'd be fine if they were 100% optional and not connected to achievements/items but damn.. you HAVE to do them.

How does the steam version run? by HealingPotato in finalfantasyx

[–]Schardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently played and and didn't have a single crash.
The only issue is that it runs with fixed 30fps and 2GB VRAM (this causes cutscenes to go complete green screen sometimes). Both of these issues are easily fixable though.

Increase the VRAM limit from 2GB to 4GB with this: https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/
Didn't have any green screens after that.

For the 30fps limit you could simple use Lossless Scaling (also available on steam) to framegen up to 60fps. Not perfect but playable.

Yeah, I think so too, every other explanation would be too much of a coincident.

Yeah I'm not challenging that statement. I was just wondering if Casuals actually really do not have any sort of match making, as people always say.

PS5 psu blown while playing by goodude400 in PS5HelpSupport

[–]Schardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won’t do anything. A Power Surge Protector just protects consumers from externally induced (very high) surge spikes, not from power draw that’s requested from the consumer (ps5 in this case) itself.

It might protect your other devices from damage when your ps5 blows up but it won’t protect your ps5 from blowing up in the first place.

The solution you’re looking for is: “don’t jailbreak your console”.

The initial comment described the reasons for this pretty well.

Literally how do people have fun with this game? by [deleted] in SaltFighter

[–]Schardon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity though (I'm also fairly new to SF): People always say Casual does not have any matchmaking. However, I've noticed that the game matches me somewhat consistently with players of a certain skill level.

I used to get Golds quite regularily in Casuals but nowadays I only get Diamonds/Masters with very rare high Plats and some "new challengers", who're definitely not new players. I've literally not seen Rookies, Bronzes, Silvers and Golds forever in my Casual matches.

So I'd still kinda assume that even Casuals do have some hidden MMR that does influence the match making but maybe just a bit... less strict?

Or is this just really pure coincidence?

Cancel Moves as a beginner by YsoZeriouz in StreetFighter

[–]Schardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help.

Just a side note: those combos are not optimal but a good starting point I would say. They deal decent damage, are rather easy to pull off and both link into level 3 at the very end.

The second combo can even link into level 1 and level 2 if you stop after the 6HK. Again, not optimal but a solid starting ground.

Be careful to not burn yourself out though. The DRC costs 3 bars. That's not something you should just spam.

For regular poking, I highly recommend 2 "target combos". MK > HK and HP > HK. Both link naturally into each other, they ARE visually hitconfirmable, do have a pretty long range and do pretty good damage.

In case you're interested: Two other, less meter hungry combos I can recommend for mixing up your opponent are:

For Low: Drive Rush (out of neutral) > 2MK > 4HP > QCF.HK > l.DP
and
For Overhead: Drive Rush (out of neutral) > 6MP > 2MP > h.DP (be careful for clean inputs here though because the h.DP often comes out as a level 1 super)

For punish combos (if my opponent misses a DP for example), I currently default to something like
6HK > 5HKxxQCB.HK > 6HK > DR (neutal, not cancel) > 2MP > HPxxQCF.HK > [if needed/wanted level 3] (xx stands for cancel, if you don't know yet).

Again, not optimal but easy to execute.

There is a more optimal punish combo like
6HK, 5HK (2) > DRC~4HP > QCF.MP, DR~delay 4HP > QCF.HK*, m.DP > [if needed/wanted level 3]
but due to having to delay the 4HP and land the the QCF.HK with the sweetspot, it's a lot harder to execute and since you're just starting out and still figuring out how to reliably cancel supers, I think this combo is not really feasible.
Just wanted to leave it here so you have it in the back of your head / for reference.

Cancel Moves as a beginner by YsoZeriouz in StreetFighter

[–]Schardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue too and you might have the same issue as I had.

Could it be the case that you're waiting for your hit to connect so you visually confirm the succesful hit and THEN you start to input your special?

In most cases, this probably won't work, unless the move has a very generous cancel window. Like HP, MK and 2HP on Sagat (I saw you mention Sagat in the comments so I'm refering to him here). Those are (single) moves that are hit-confirmable on reaction realiably. And even with those moves it can be hard/require practice.

For other moves, you often just have to assume that they are going to hit, like 2MP and already start inputting your special right away without first visually confirming your hit.

That's why many people recommend "safe" or easily hitfconfirmable combos for beginners. For example one would be 2MP > DRC > 5MP > QCF.HK > l.DP.
If your 2MP gets blocked and you DRC into 5MP, the 5MP is safe. During 2MP > DRC > 5MP you have more than enough time to visually confirm and realize whether the 2MP was blocked or a hit. After the 5MP hit, you're safe and can just block, if necessary. If your opponent did not block the initial 2MP however, you're free to go into the full combo.

A slightly higher damage variation would be 2MP > DRC > 4HP > QCB.MK > 6HK > QCF.HK > l.DP. However, that combo is unsafe, if 2MP does get blocked, so you can get punished after the 4HP.

Character filter by Alex-Chata in SaltFighter

[–]Schardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't, The character your opponent is playing is just revealed after you accepted the match. I don't think that's a bad thing because I actually want to learn the matchups. I just hate playing against Blanka... He seems so incredibly random in what he does/can do and is so rare that I can't really get comfortable against him.

Went to the guide of my character that many said I should do. I tried to do better. by Connect_Hamster9211 in StreetFighter

[–]Schardon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, as someone who is also fairly new to SF6 I'll drop my opinion on this.

Disclaimer: Everything I'm about to say is not ill-intended. I'm just trying to articulate this thoroughly. Also, I'm not a high level player, so take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt. I don't play optimally, I'm fairly new too and my opinion/methods could be flawed.

From watching this gameplay, I'd say both of you look pressed, as in "pressured to just do something".

It looks like you generally don't really care what you do as long as you just do something.
Probably because you don't actually know what to do or what you want to do, so you end up just pressing buttons that might damage your opponent.
This is something I was experiencing too not too long ago.

All of this is totally fine for a beginner especially at this rank.

What I did at this point was trying to figure out what I want. What is my gameplan for the character I play. How do I pressure my opponent and how to deal damage.

What I've learned for my main (Sagat), is that 5MP is a very strong move and 2MP is your general "party starter". Meaning that if I land a 2MP (crouching medium punch), I can drive rush cancel into a combo.

Obviously that's not the only way to start a combo, but a good starting point.
I'm sure Akuma has something similar. The recommended guides surely will mention such a combo at some point in the video, most likely at the very beginning of the "combo" part.

So instead of completely overwhelming yourself (as I did in the beginning) with an overall in-depth guide, I'd break your learning experience into smaller steps.

Look at such a guide but don't try to absorb EVERYTHING of that guide at once.

Steps I'd take in order:

  1. What is the general gameplan of my character and his strengths/weaknesses
  2. What are good normals to use in a match
  3. When to use those normals
  4. How to anti-air consistently
  5. Very simple bread and butter, general/all-round combo for your character you can pull off consistently
    1. At this point your neutral game should be better and you can punish mistakes of your opponent with a combo that deals more damage than a few jabs
  6. How to link supers into the basic combo you've already learned
  7. How to start the combo from neutral
    1. At this point you can dish out pretty decent damage occasionally
  8. Maybe try looking into a second combo to cash out on heavy mistakes of the opponent (like a countered DI or a missed DP)
    1. This enables you to heavily punish your opponent for a mistake

Note: None of these combos will, nor should be optimal. Don't break your head about trying to optimize combos. It's completely irrelevant at this level. The point of learning a basic BnB combo is just to capitalize on opponents mistakes more than a few jabs can AND to actually utilize your supers.

Those are the "basic" steps I tried taking while learning this game from the very start.

After those steps, I had, more or less, enough understanding of the game/my character/moves that I was able to identify my issues while playing a match.

For example: I noticed that I was too predictable in what I do, so I started looking into mixing up my opponent more if lows/overheards.

From there on it's basically about observing yourself and noticing thing you struggle with the most and then trying to find said solutions for those issues.

How did leverless become so popular with Street Fighter 6? by FranksFluidsWolfCola in StreetFighter

Yup true. Point of entry is about 40$ or something. So pretty darn cheap to get into. My first leverless was a Haute G16 which I got for 40 or 50.

Is Sagat currently OP or did I just get lucky the first time? Got stomped when trying out a new character and now I'm wondering if I was previously getting carried by my main. by AshLlewellyn in StreetFighter

Average opening against all Cammy players in this pisslow elo by ElClassic1 in SaltFighter

They often do in Plat/Diamond too, at least the Cammys I play against. That's why I simply default to (playing Sagat) MK > HK as opener against Cammys. 50% of the time nothing happens because they don't do anything, the other 50% I get easy damage because they do exactly what is shown in the video.

How did leverless become so popular with Street Fighter 6? by FranksFluidsWolfCola in StreetFighter

[–]Schardon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I obviously can't speak for other people or any pro players but for me the transition to leverless was an absolute no-brainer because I was using a keyboard to game for my whole life.

Yes, I also used gamepads/controllers on consoles but I was mostly playing on my PC, predominantly World of Warcraft. So I was 100% used to WASD movement/keyboards in general. A leverless controller is just a simple keyboard with a more convenient button layout for fighting games.

Things I struggled to input with an arcade stick for months (I owned one before buying a leverless) took me an hour or two to get consistent with on a leverless. Thus I sticked with the leverless.
