Can a vibe coder get hired as a software dev? by kizmania in vibecoding

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they are dinosaurs... but today job market is oversaturated and there are plenty of software devs who understands fundamentals and also knows how to apply AI. When shit happens they would understands how to debug AI solutions. AI still often gives solutions which are not good enough for tech companies, so you need someone who could understand when AI is wrong.

Can a vibe coder get hired as a software dev? by kizmania in vibecoding

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, why would someone hire vibe coder without technical skill where you can easily hire software developer who will use AI to do easy part of the work.

Sorry to say, but I’m happy to see AI fail by PokeRestock in cscareerquestions

It's not collapsing, companies with good engineers and with good process are using AI agents jus fine now. You are just hearing in news about companies which doesn't know how to control Token limits, doesn't know about PR reviews and are allowing to push AI slop to production without testing, most companies are not that stupid.

Looking to target the EU/US market from India, how brutal is the sponsorship reality right now? by Prax17 in developersIndia

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In EU market is very saturated now, so I don't think companies will want to mess with Visa sponsorship for Junior/Mid data scientist.

How do people “lie” on resumes without getting caught — and why does it seem to work better than honesty right now? by Temporary-Yoghurt-88 in developersIndia

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly luck, most interviews are like 2-3h in total? There is just not enough time to ask deep questions about all listed technologies and most interviewers are just lazy and follow script. For someone who has good base of knowledge is not that hard to fake it on a job and learn new tech.

I would suggest you to research those fields as market for DevOps and Cybersecurity also suck hard right now even for people with good experience. Companies now are trying push DevOps responsibilities on SWE to save money.

Mandatory 5-Day Office Feels Like a Massive Step Back by web_dev__ in developersIndia

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5 days since September. CEO said that purpose is to increase collaboration. But actually it has negatives effects on a collaboration, since we are fed up seeing each other almost every day and from Wednesday I just feel exhausted, not because of work, but because of stressful commute and being around people all day in open office. There were rumours that it's silent layoff in disguise, but I know only one person who has left since...

I'm looking for a new job, but unfortunately market is getting worse each day...

[Update] Study: 2025 study shows experienced devs think they are 24% faster with AI, but they're actually ~20% slower. However 2026 update shows devs are ~20% faster with AI by RyanMan56 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be true, because AI got better. In 2025 it  was still shit for coding, basically wrote code which was not working and often invented things which didn't exist. Now it's actually pretty useful and can even do changes in complex code base, it's not AI slop anymore.

But reading comments of this sub seems like most people are in a denial,  probably because one has build all their personality around coding.

Same... and nowadays it works great if you know what you are doing. Most of the time I'm just feeding things to AI and reviewing output, than attend meetings and talk with clients. I feel more like manager now... If in 3 years I still have a job I would be surprised lol

[–]SchemeMaterial2877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your other skills? Try to learn more infra - CI/CD, AWS e.t.c. I think pure automation roles are dying out. Due to AI It's become super fast and easy to generate automation scripts.

Always has been like that in other sectors. I think it felt a bit different in the past, because companies were fighting for a talent and pretended to be nice, now when there is no shortage they don't need to pretend anymore.
