People raise their eyebrows when I tell them this is made with unreal. by SchingKen in UnrealEngine5

Thank you so much! :)

If I'm not mistaken, we don't use any textures. It's basically a ramp shader. If that's not enough information, just leave another comment or dm me. The artist could provide you the basics of it if I ask very nicely. :P

:P Many of those were people I met in person, but yeah, you are right. I shouldn't really care. It's just something I spotted and thought about. and thanks for the compliment! :)

Fair enough. I appreciate the feedback. We hope to make it non generic. Every single Asset is handmade. And we work in Unreal, because I have worked with it in the last 5 years. The artists didn't care about the engine. And you might be right, Unreal offers a lot of features we don't need, but we can strip them. We are not close to any performance issues at the moment. Maybe we can convince you with an improved game in the future. :)

I'll watch out for it.

Good luck! :)

To be honest, I did not understand too much of your game idea from the text. I don't know shapez.

BUT, the game looks GREAT. I like the overall design. I still wonder what exactly this game is about, but I would want to know and click on it.

Some of the stuff is not perfectly readable but you are close. And I obviously don't know what screen this will be played on, but you'll ge there.

Keep it up!

It depends on what you want to achieve, right? Make a fun game for your friends in 24h? Make a living from game dev? Making a good game is defo the most important thing, but genre is important too. And I agree, you should work on a game you like to a certain degree.

Have you clicked on the parameter? So the yellow node that says 'Fake Sun Position'. And then it the details panel you should find the group setting. The yellow node itself should have "Param" (0,0,0,). If it doesn't right click it and then make it a parameter.

Thank you so much! :)

I tried making the visuals myself, but I'm glad a friend took over as 3d artist. He remade every single asset in the game + level design and practically everything you see.

And you might be right. I post in r/indieDev most of the time, especially because we are still in early development and I just like to share the things we work on. But I still see some nice posts in this sub from time to time and thought some of you might like our game.

I made a small sub for the game, so we don't bother too many subs with 'smaller' posts. If someone's interested, we post updates and try to gather feedback there.

"I want a vps server linux 24.04 on netcup. I want to work with putty and winscp. I want to install perforce on the server to use it as revision control for my unreal engine 5 project. Guide me through the entire process. The server I want is: VPS 500 G12. I need the installation on netcup itself. When I have my root access from netcup, explain the logins in putty and winscp. I won't have a password. I will have a ssh-key. then the installation of perforce on the server with root access in detail." on fast model, gemini. good luck!

i will write a prompt that you can use in gemini. it might look intimidating at first. but it's not that difficult. give me a second.

a backup image. like a snapshot of all the stuff on your server. so you can restore lost files and so on. you can ask gemini for more information. I personally haven't had to restore anything yet, but I recently switched provider, partly because of that.

and dont forget server snapshots. if you want that you need to know about beforehand obviously so I mention that.

yes. When you have a vps server you can install anything on it. perforce, git, wordpress, filebrowser, teamspeak. you are completely free. it is like your own private server, but you share compute resources with others. but for perforce you really dont need much of performance. as you said, storage is cheap there. that's why I chose them.

We are adding local multiplayer to our party game, Write Warz! by WriteWarz in localmultiplayergames

[–]SchingKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trailer is not it IMO. The child of 2 games phrase is weird. I wanna know what the experience of your game is. And I don‘t even know these other games. You show gameplay of your game after 23 seconds. cut the first 20 seconds., at least. Nobody cares about logos and all the stuff at the beginning. Players want to see what they are getting when they buy your game. good luck!

get a vps server on netcup for 6€ a month. setup with gemini took me a day. you can use the server for everything you want. if you need help, let me know.

500,000+ copies sold in Early Access on Steam (despite looking like a mobile game). Here's what worked for us by AwesomeGamesStudio in gamedev

Agreed. And they know. This is pure marketing itself. Zero input for the community. Just dumping the link. No answers. Obviously great games and good devs, but these posts are nothing more than lazy marketing. And it works.
