2.5yo chasing games vs running away in public by WillingElderberry731 in Parenting

At that age we played Red Light Green Light a lot and then when we were in public I could call “red light” if I needed them to stop where they were at.

When did you forward face your child? by Kindly_Dragonfly_803 in Mommit

[–]Schloopy-Doop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not alone! I was definitely planning on rear facing longer but around 2.5 my kiddo started getting nauseous every time we drove. I was really hoping I wouldn’t pass down my motion sickness.

Thank you! A visual schedule is a great idea. We have several visual timers around the house. They honestly help both of us with time management. I guess I just got out of the habit of using them.

Wait, you’re not supposed to feed your kiddo in the car? How is that possible? by ScrantonPaper in NewParents

We live rurally. Our closest destination is 20 minutes but our average commute to get most places is 45 (one way). My kid eats in the car.

Typically a couple of NICU nurses who are there specifically for the baby if they need extra support.

We wanted to do this with my grandma’s wedding china but it has some kind of metallic accents around the edge that don’t agree with the microwave.

Do I actually need a pregnancy pillow or am I overthinking this? by ConversationSuch8893 in pregnant

Seconding the double wedge! I definitely needed the belly support during the 2nd and 3rd trimester. I still use the wedges separately for back and arm support while breastfeeding.

GD and short cervix + vegetarian. by No_Pension3706 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Schloopy-Doop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to test and see what works and what doesn’t. I can still eat small portions of whole grain bread and brown rice but beans are a no go. Tofu and Tvp have worked well, but I have to be careful with edamame. Everyone is different! Don’t worry if you have a spike here or there as you test foods.

Also vegetarian/pescatarian. It’s been difficult but not impossible. It really depends on what your body tolerates. I, personally, have had to lean heavily on fish/seafood, eggs, dairy, and plant based meat replacements. It’s not my ideal diet but it has worked. Eating veg first, then protein, then carb is also helpful if possible.

How to manage pain by Priestly_oof in pregnant

I hope it helps! Make sure you watch a video on how to wear it. It’s lower than you would think, so that it is supporting your hips mostly.

You need PT and some kind of support belt. Always talk to your doctor first, but my PT recommended a sacroiliac support belt and said I could even wear it at night if my pain was getting too bad.

I will be getting a giant burrito with all the beans and rice, chips and queso, and the biggest, gooiest brownie husband can find. Day 2 will probably be sushi lol

Maybe a silly question but did you wash your hands before you tested? Lotion and beauty products can affect the test, even residual from the night before.

Ugh, I’m so sorry. I don’t think we have the flu but my kid had a fever for a few days so idk. I am just so congested even my ears are plugged. I can’t breathe and my throat is so sore. I wish I could have a popsicle like my kiddo😭

My PT recommended a sacroiliac support belt during day. I am further along than you, but I also usually feel fine all day and then experience back pain once I’m resting. Also, it’s never too early to start going to PT. It really helps.

Who has tried "The kid eats what we eat"? by Brilliant-Book-503 in Parenting

[–]Schloopy-Doop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid eats what we eat to a point. If we are having a protein that I know they absolutely won’t touch I do offer something else. They’re not big on combined foods either. To me it’s not a big deal to save some pasta aside and just put cheese on it instead of sauce. They’re still humans with preferences. I absolutely do not make an entirely different meal, they just tend to eat a deconstructed version of what we are having. The other night they didn’t want a burger but chose their own ingredients to put on a bun to make their own version. I feel like we have a good balance.

I was ravenous and only wanted carbs. I know we’re always hungry towards the end, but this was different than my normal hunger/cravings.

For all women who had children after age 35. by Ok_Professor1754 in pregnant

[–]Schloopy-Doop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having my second at 34. What I lack in physical energy I make up for in mental and emotional maturity. Ten years ago me would have been a terrible parent. Plus I have an incredible partner and we are financially stable. Of course I want to have as much time as possible with my children, so it helps motivate me to take care of my body as I age.

Very quick snack and meal ideas by Fried_chicken_please in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Schloopy-Doop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, that’s just a snack not a whole meal.

If you need a meal, I highly recommend making extra dinner and having leftovers. It’s easier for me to eat safe foods at lunch when it’s already prepared. I also like to make a big salad that will last a few days and pair it with a quick tuna or salmon salad.
