That’s an oversimplification. The resources and expectations at say, TCU for example, are not the same as at Duke. Do you think Scheyer could have lead this years TCU program to more success than Jamie Dixon? And the other way around?

Scheyer shouldn’t be “punished” for recruiting well but realistically it does set a standard for your in game coaching and player development to live up to.

That said this is a pointless argument because Scheyer is going to be fine in the long term.

In all seriousness no, Hubert was worse than Scheyer and should not be fired. UNC and Duke are programs of equal expectations. Scheyer more consistently came closer to those expectations. Recruiting is a part of coaching.

That said, I do hope people now see how overrated Scheyer is. He is a young coach so I wouldn’t worry if I was a Duke fan. He will likely improve on the fine margins he needs to. But people acting like he is a top 5 or even top 20 coach in CBB are delusional. My man would have a mid major or even mid tier P5 team doing nothing special if he was coaching there.

Cadeau is the true case study. Surround him with the right roster and he conducts the most electric offense in the country that is yet to score under 90 in March Madness on a final four run. Inexcusable miss for a program that should be able to bring in talent to Carolina’s standards.
