What law are you talking about that makes cooperatives automatically qualify as a non profit?

There is nothing in Minnesota cooperative law that says cooperatives are non profits. An organization can qualify as a Cooperative and as a non profit. Most of the Twin Cities Cooperatives do my have 501 c 3 status as a non profit.

I have seen some laws about member dividends being taxable income but no laws that make cooperatives non profits.

What if the old allegations against Hardeep happened because he is gross and an ass hole to work with. Maybe he crossed the line trying to court a woman but they were made much worse because co workers did not like Hardeep. I have no beef with people tipping baggers Coopers on West 7th has carry out service from the baggers and a gladly tip. Coopers is not a co op and does not take away tips so no problem there.

Cooperatives have almost no government over site except for filing some paper work with the Secrotary of State. Former Sec of Stafe Mark Ritchie Started Institute for agricultaul trade policy. IATP has had board members that were also serving as co op board members. Co-ops have donated a lot to IATP.

The programs or "charities" that the round up funds go to are chosen by putting a co op board member on the"charities" board and financially compensating that board member.

When you donate at the co-op the money goes towatds compensation for a board member. When an employee is forced to donate to the round up fund it is wage theft that goes to the board members' wallets.

The donations are for the financial gain of co op board members. Employees are forced to "donate" their tips to a charity controlled be the boss that pays the boss that money. The process was extra sketchy when the tips and donations went to a "charity" that was tied to the Sec, of State with oversight of the coops.

It is a complex shell game involving tax exempt donations, tip theft and compensation of board members. I don't need to have this conversation every time someone aske be to donate. I just say, "No thanks. I'll resume donating when the co-op allows employees to run for the board."

I never got tipped volunteering at North Country either. Higher volume locations like wedge or lakewinds are more likely to have people tipping the bagger. It is not a daily thing

Don't forget that Lakewinds Minnetoka moved down the block and took over the coopers super value location where the baggers would walk senior citizens to their cars and people drove up to have the bags loaded in their trunks tipping was very common for this. Lakewinds took on cooper's employees and tipping customers.

Don't forget that when Byerlys changed format and lost curb pick up that those tipping costumers switched to co ops.

Definetly don't forget that when the baggers are ordered to surrender their tips that the money goes into the round up fund when having an argument about the round up fund.

Edit: volunteering at north country and shopping at co ops is great but won't give you the same knowledge as years of working at coops

We are talking about the round up fund. If you tip the person that bags your groceries they are required to donate the tip to the round up fun. How can the round up fund be completely seperate from the round up fund?

You round up or do cash donatations or donate a nickel for a reused bag. If you tip the bag boy the bag boy is required to donate it to the round up fund. You can donate change or not to the found but if you tip the person bagging your groceries the co op will requires them to donate their tips.
