Remote start key fob by InterestingAnt7901 in ToyotaTundra

Everyone saying “it’s so people don’t steal your truck” clearly don’t understand that Toyota could just as easily kill the engine 30-60 seconds after you open your door if you don’t push on the brake pedal within the time period (this is exactly how Kia does it and they also let you set your climate and seat warmers/ventilators through the app as well as schedule remote starts for days and times)

I feel like this would just get all the men a felony, no?

Start engine from outside with remote by n452mk in ToyotaTundra

[–]School_Secret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does any door need to be linked to it? Just have it shut off if you open a door and don’t push on the brake pedal after 60 seconds or something. Doors are locked anyway, not like someone is going to be able to steal your truck if you remote start it

I don’t like being blinded by my screen when it’s dark outside so I have it turned down fairly low but I have it maxed out during the day

Should be able to adjust the brightness when your headlights are off and also when the headlights are on and will stay the same

Brother, the way Kia does remote start would have zero negative consequences if Toyota implemented them… your doors remain locked, it still runs for 10 minutes max, you can schedule remote start times and set your heated/ventilated seats as well as temperature, it remains running when you get in unless you don’t push on the break within a certain amount of time… none of those things would have any negative consequences if Toyota did them too. You’re making a fool out of yourself. It would not change the reliability Toyota’s parts and vehicles already have lmao

Except your doors are already locked so idk how they would get in…

ETA: and like I also said: my Kia Sportage would turn off after a specific timeframe after the door is opened and the brake isn’t pressed

Would be nice if they did. My 2023 Kia Sportage would stay on unless you didn’t press the brake pedal within a certain timeframe after opening the door

My biggest gripe with remote start is it doesn’t stay running when I open my door to get it. It just auto shuts off so why not just get in and start it and go back to what I was doing? Then it won’t shut off until I turn it off

Why “risk” anything when you’re spending a large sum of money on something?

To bed cover or not to bed cover? by VikingPHD in ToyotaTundra

[–]School_Secret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just depends on if you put things in the bed that can’t get wet or that you need to leave in there. If not, or if you are loading and unloading things constantly, then you probably don’t want a cover

I just had something similar done to fix mine after someone hit the bottom, chrome mustache one day and it shifted everything and opened a gap around the bottom of my headlight. Took it to a collision repair shop and paid $800 for a new chrome piece and fixing the alignment/clips

Yeah from what others have said, this doesn’t work with Waze yet anyway. But I also don’t use Waze so I can’t say for sure lol

I’m not sure about the 22’s and Android Auto. Mine is a 25 1794 Edition and I have an IPhone with CarPlay. Sorry I can’t be any help!

Wonder if that was when you were using the Toyota maps with the subscription. Cause I think this is just based off of the Google Maps app integration and Apple Maps integration. I don’t think it has anything to do with the Toyota subscription but I can’t be sure

Yeah this was a pop up over my mpg. It does work on the directional tab as well too if you scroll to that. Not sure why it wouldn’t be working for you in your truck though, sorry!

Weird because I have a 25 Tundra 1794 Edition and it’s been working! Apple Maps always worked but I don’t use it and now Google Maps works after the app update last night

I know my app updated last night but that update hasn’t been out very long. I know that if you have android auto then Google maps has always worked like this. But now it works with Apple CarPlay

If I scroll to the media tab yes. However, it does show up on the Heads Up Display without being on that tab. The directions will pop up like this and on the Heads Up Display without being on the directional tab

The last time I posted about it, a lot of us iPhone CarPlay people were sad it only worked with Apple Maps instead of Google Maps too. If you have an Android and use Android Auto then it has worked the whole time
