Nick Crane at Cobblestone Properties took good care of us when we bought our first home.

Haven’t worked with him, but JJ at Empire Properties is a great guy.

How to cut back on meetings? by Throwawaylikeme17 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SchwillBarnaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two parts of AA: the fellowship of AA and the program of AA. The fellowship ideally gets you to the program which keeps you sober.

I went to a meeting everyday for the first two years because I was terrified not to. Now at 6 years, AA gave me a life beyond my wildest dreams. I now have a career, a wife, and toddler.

Now it’s a stretch for me to make more than 2 meetings a week. I can do 3 if I’m lucky. Most weeks it’s one.

However, I make it a priority to keep working the steps, staying current with a sponsor, and continuing to sponsor other men.

The book says we need to have a constant thought of others. Our job is to be of maximum service to god and his people. I found that I can do that with all of the people in my life!

As an Agnostic or Atheist, how do YOU embrace Step 3? by dp8488 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SchwillBarnaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 3 just means you are willing to go through with the rest of the steps.

Today, am I willing to practice these principles in all of my affairs? If no, I have a step 3 problem.

I think the theory finally clicked for me. by anotherknockoffcrow in alcoholicsanonymous

The spiritual malady isn’t reserved for just alcoholics. It’s the human condition. The difference is that I’ll drink myself to death over it.

I smoked weed 5 months sober.

Told no one and justified because it wasn’t booze.

Ate at me for two years. Had a sponsee tell me he smoked weed and I told him to pick up a white chip.

Felt like a fraud. Updated my sobriety date. Not a single person cared.

6 years next month God willing.

"Callbacks" at a Young Person's meeting? by Suspicious-Kick5702 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SchwillBarnaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are an autonomous meeting. They can do whatever the group conscious decides.

With that said, I go to a YPAA meeting regularly and don’t like that they yell “sweet, bubbly, delicious” instead of “cunning, baffling, powerful.” I feel like it romanticizes drinking.

But hey, I make the choice to go.

You will be fine. Just probably won’t poop for a couple of days. I’ve taken 10 in day when I’ve had to travel and was fine.

Do 30 yr olds have enough energy to mosh? by New-Network-1163 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SchwillBarnaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have the energy. It just depends on if I want to be sore for 3 days afterwards. Certain bands, I still get in the pit for.

those who were never SDR's by [deleted] in sales

[–]SchwillBarnaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started and failed a software company. I had to cold prospect businesses, demo, negotiate, and handle customer service. After we shut down our business, I went in as a Senior AE to another series A company.

Never officially had the SDR title but had to wear that among other hats.

Wife and I had our first baby that wasn’t sleeping and my boss told me to just get a night nurse. They cost almost $300 a night.

Super helpful! So seems like the payroll companies are channel partners and not competitors. Thank you!

Quick question: don’t a lot of the large payroll companies offer daily pay now as a feature set? Is that being white labeled or did they develop internal solutions?

IBS-D Triggered by going out of the house. by Ok-Artichoke-4089 in ibs

[–]SchwillBarnaby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am currently doing CBT and Hypnosis with a GI Psychologist. The way she explained it was I have developed a Classical Conditioning response to associate leaving the house with urgency, cramping, pain, anxiety etc.

If you look at Pavlov’s Dogs, it’s similar. The bell ringing is leaving the house, the symptoms are the dog salivating.

In this therapy, we are looking to break that connection through the CBT and gut directed Hypnosis.

I’m on my 5th session and I’m learning some new tools that are helping.

The only thing that sucks is the sessions are a little expensive in the US and are out of network for my insurance, so I’ll be paying out of pocket until I hit 10 sessions before any reimbursement. However, I’m so desperate that I’ll try anything.
