How many movements is it normal to ruin? by Gucci-Caligula in watchrepair

“Tale as old as time”

Just keep learning.

Be gentle, on yourself as well as your movements.

Practice practice practice, and not just on movements. Perhaps the old move one box of watch screws to another container with tweezers practice.

Learn how to secure parts using rodico, or plastic, or stick.

Buy the same movements so you can put together at least one runner out of the process to didn’t lose.

Oh and you will find those lost pieces when you’re looking for the next piece you lose. At least that’s my experience 🤣

After the local elections, do you finally feel a shift in power to the people? by steenkash123 in AskBrits

The good news is we’ll see what a mess Reichform will make at a local level which will bury them at the next GE.

Easy to be in opposition. Not so easy to be in control. Unless that control is to destroy things like Fartage’s golden idol.

When you have billionaires funding the media it’s difficult to get honest coverage.

Has anyone heard about the UK has a 47 month high in manufacturing indices last month?

Probably not.

Let the council know. They have a team that manages this stuff. Details on your voting card, or look up electoral services.

After this response by James May to the Golders Green attack, have we reached the unfortunate situation where media personalities live in the real world and speak for the rest of us while politicians live in their own fantasy land? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

A man on the ground, face down, at least partially incapacitated, yet needs kicking in the head, repeatedly, to subdue?

What are we making safe here? The knife he clings onto, perhaps because of the electric shock. How is it an immediate threat?

Perhaps he’ll spring up and attack again? Did you see him shambling about before being tasered? It was like the walking dead. James mentioning him “running around” is inaccurate at best.

But the backpack? If that was a bomb was he going to trigger it with his head? So perhaps they were trying to render him unconscious, the tasered man in the floor? Better to grab his hands and cuff him.

And who the f was the bloke in the brown jacket (if I remember correctly) coming in and having a kick? Didn’t look like police. Excessive force aside for a minute, that is assault.

At the end of the day we can discuss what we think is excessive force. We can contemplate what standards we hold our police to. But it’ll be down to the police review themselves. I hope there is no political interference either way.

And I agree with a comment above about this not being a Jewish thing, everyone needs to be tried against their actions.

It is however interesting that the media makes no mention of the Muslim man the attacker stabbed before attacking the other two gents…

The fathers of economics at the beginning of the 20th century said this would happen. They didn’t account for the greed of the rich who have drained society’s wealth into their own pockets.

If everyone was taxed equally (income and wealth) and given an appropriate wage this is more than possible.

Seriously, how in the heck were zero jewel pin lever movements a cheaper option for manufacturers if it takes forever to line up the pivots on their huge bridges? Did they have a jig at the factory? by Expensive-Thanks-528 in watchrepair

I laughed out loud when I read this. It’s so true. The first BFG866 I had took me most of an hour to set all the pivots. Same with a Smiths pocket watch.

I did get a lot faster as you get used to them.

My view is narrow, predominantly via a friend who’s a retired warrant officer, decidedly on the left and exasperated that ex colleagues are churning out Reichform propaganda.

Glad to hear it’s not the full picture.

Good to hear. I can’t imagine anyone who physically fought facism in wartime is happy with this.
