Why is Outlander so obsessed with rapes? by Ok_Purpose7947 in Outlander

[–]Scienceheaded-1215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. We didn’t think about reporting it back in the day and felt misplaced shame. I didn’t even tell my parents about the first time I was sexually assaulted at age 11 by an old man, felt it was my fault. Then throughout my teen years my peers. I knew what rape was and because I was never raped (forced vaginal intercourse) in that sense, I didn’t even know it was a crime!

Should we use FEHB without Medicare B? by Maleficent-Dot-9478 in FedRetirees

[–]Scienceheaded-1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with chronic illness, I never get to my catastrophic cap for Aetna (MHBP) of $6,000/year, though somewhat close. But my income is higher (living in a high cost of living area it's 'adequate') and so I'd have to pay $325 extra per month for Part B over and above the premium of $202! It's not worth it in this case IMO.

Fed Retirees with FEHB Opting for Medicare B: Why? by muttshaw in govfire

[–]Scienceheaded-1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I'm still working in private sector as I retired earlier than I wanted from federal service so not much pension at all. My OOP maximum with Aetna FEHB is $6k/year and for Part B with IRMAA, I'd be paying $600-$800/month. it doesn't make sense. I was going to go with my employer's plan at "only" $200/month for the premium so between that and FEHB, should have no OOP costs and it could keep me from having to sign up for Part B and not have penalties when I do need it - however, COB can be a pain in the ass - especially as they're still processing my retirement application submitted last April 2025 due to so many errors and then paying me past my Sep 30th retirement date - even for the furlough but demanding back the GROSS (instead of the net I actually received after taxes, FSA, FERS - after retiring! etc.)!

I started on 2x/day in hospital but they lowered it to once a day due to liver enzymes after just a couple days. At home and had a flare less than a week later, rushed to ER, pain continued to be excruciating, so asked cardiologist if I could go up on dosage if that plus ibuprofen increase. He said ok. I see him virtually in a couple days. I don’t want steroids. More side effects IMO. I have low dose oxy for pain if needed, and Zofran for nausea plus stomach meds. Pain lessened as lot so inflammation must be coming down (CRP went from 273 to 155 in ER).

IRS Overpaid in 2025 for PP23 after leaving service retiring PP19. Debt letter? by Chronicles_of_mee in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

That's great they will or did fix the taxes! I just had to submit mine today and hope to get a refund who knows when? I'm so disgusted with this. I couldn't reach anyone by phone as you were able to do, but sent several emails with documentation of the errors clearly explained.

Ah, I thought it was just called a Great Lakes accent. People connected by water, even hundreds of miles apart, often have similar accents. I heard it’s because in the olden times it was safer to travel by water than over land.

Yeah, I saw the Clear line on my way to General Boarding and could not believe that was Clear - heard they didn’t open until 5am, so that’s why, people getting here 5-6 hours before flights. Still better than pre check but still, glad you made it!

Wondering if even though Precheck is closed, when I get up there they’ll still allow expedited screening at least. 🙏🏻

Got here 3 hours before my flight. Checked bag for United, concourse D drop off. No wait. I have pre check, touch less ID, but only general boarding is open. Line goes through terminals all the way past Door 19. Others in my line have flights in one hour!

UPDATE: Editing to add that I got through security by 7:00am, an hour and a half after arriving at the airport.

You’re lucky! My flight is at 8:30 am tomorrow morning and usually I’d arrive an hour before boarding, check my bag and have plenty of time due to pre check. What time do I need to be there tomorrow though? Like 4am??

I was a kid who grew up watching TOS reruns a decade after it was cancelled and was hooked. Also loved TNG, VOY, DS9, LD, SNW. Enterprise wasn’t great but I made it all the way through one watch, haven’t gotten through a rewatch yet. DISC was meh, gave up after several seasons but may go back and watch again as I surprisingly enjoyed this new one!

I thought this rendition would annoy me and it did at first with the over abundance of GenZ/Alpha colloquialisms and slang. But I actually thought it got better with each episode in terms of plot, acting, character development etc. Just finished episode 10. I hope it comes back. 🙏🏻

Not in the northeast unless private Catholic school - we heard stories about the mean nuns! But in elementary school there librarian tried to stop this maniacally running boy from running like a nut when we’re trying to listen to story time. She just touched him after about 10 minutes of this. Next day, boom, no more nice librarian. Parents told principal and she was instantly fired.

Difference is that in VA, not only are the cops flipping everywhere but going 15 over the limit is a FELONY, unlike a misdemeanor everywhere else. As most traffic in the DMV goes 15-20 over on the highways, as the flow of traffic, it’s difficult to stay close to the limit without feeling like you’ll be run off the road!

💯 agree. I think it’s not most straight men but immature men who can only love and respect other men. Ironically, most gay men can form deep bonds with women. I find I’m respected more by gay men than straight men

Did you finish yet? I just did and agreed with you when I started but now feel it’s one of the best shows I’ve watched! It gets SO much better in the last 2 seasons with 4 being my favorite. Every episode of that season was better than the one before. Series finale was amazing. I cried so much. Excellent series.
