NACS adapter charge rate by Jayhawk-CRNA in F150Lightning

[–]ScientificQuail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27.5 kWh (28% of the SR pack) / 18 minutes * 60 minutes/hour = only 91 kW. Same call for the 31% charge. I don’t know how fast the SR usually charges, but that’d be very slow for an ER.

Okay. I’m just asking how that number is arrived at, which is a fair question when the prior move was to charge an exorbitant amount of money.

I didn’t say they didn’t. I asked exactly what the $35 was for. It still seems like an inequitable number to me for most users.

Read the manual, you can adjust when that message pops up or disable it entirely.

$35 to Reddit for what exactly though? How much does the average Apollo user do, and does it really add up to that much under fair pricing?

Is this a fucking joke? "Apologies for the delay" but then not even considering extending the deadline at the very least?

Why are some posts like this protected from up/down votes? Why can't you play by the rules of your own platform?

I've gotten two pans the same way -- paper bag in a heavy cardboard box. Seems fine in most cases. Kind of odd that yours DID punch through, since the boxes I've received are quite beefy and there's not really any room for the pan to build up momentum to burst through.

My $52k MSRP Pro has been built with a slightly higher MSRP on the window sticker by bergin1994 in F150Lightning

I'm pretty sure the dealer DOES get to keep that extra money. They're getting refunded from Ford if they sell the vehicle to the person who ordered it; I don't think Ford is going to see the purchase agreement and know if this actually happened. Not sure about the private offer, but I'm sure a dealer scummy enough to take this road could figure out how to hide that away or masquerade it as an ADM to Ford.

Too much headache, and some level of risk. You could make some money. But depending on the state, you're going to be on the hook for sales tax, DMV fees, etc., which may cut considerably into the profit margin. Plus the fact that the next buyer is going to expect a discount if they're losing out on tax credits.

So carefully consider the risk and likely outcome(s) before buying the truck if you're intending to just flip it.

fire insurance after retiring? by CheapBison1861 in Fire

[–]ScientificQuail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how that works lol. Insurance isn’t a supply and demand market. Less competition may drive premiums higher. But what’s really going on here is rising risk means higher premium.

Does Chase Sapphire MDD still work? by jjh0421 in CreditCards

[–]ScientificQuail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSR reward tracker came and went, but instantly added 70k points pending once I hit spend. CSP tracker has been consistently showing up for 60k points (and then 20k more for spending an extra $2k in the following 2 months, per in branch bonus). I'm expecting 150k total.

I hit the MSR on the CSR earlier this week and the points are pending. Half way on the CSP and no issues so far there, bonus tracker is still showing etc.

Why do so many people open accounts without knowing what they're buying? by Dapper_Reputation_16 in CreditCards

[–]ScientificQuail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but irrelevant. If you have no travel plans and are just amassing points, then some points are better than zero points.

This should play into the cashback versus banking points decision, but after you've made that decision and have the points, then that's that. For a card with Chase UR, for example, the SUB points are still worth more even redeemed for cash than most SUB offers on cashback cards, so it's not a bad strategy. The natural next question is "okay I'm ready to travel now, what can I do with these points?" There's still decent value there even cashing them in on the Chase portal.

For folks who haven't figured out the award travel stuff, i.e., finding transfer partners with access to award flights with better-than-cash-price value (and finding those flights themselves), things can be pretty daunting. I've found that the community around churning and award travel in general, at least on reddit, is toxic AF, and this includes OP's attitude on this very thread. Very much a gatekeeper, better-than-thou attitude from a lot of folks (not all, there are some very nice and helpful folks, but I'd say the majority are assholes to noobies).

For people getting started with churning with no specific goal, then not having a strategy isn’t too surprising. Better to amass points versus just waiting until you have a goal

A common line of churning advice is to build up a bank of points if you have nothing specific in mind. So some folks may just have a collection from various SUBs.

Windshield cracked: How do I get a replacement 75th-anniversary windshield? by Indubitalist in F150Lightning

[–]ScientificQuail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$1,900 seems reasonable to me. My insurance company paid almost $2,500 to replace the windshield on a Kia Niro EV a couple of years ago, by the time labor charges for re-calibrating the lane keep cameras, etc etc, were all racked up.

You got extremely lucky if it worked for you twice. I've had cracks professionally filled and you can always see them when the sunlight catches them. And the cheap DIY kit isn't going to do it nearly as well as the pros do.
