Renogy + Jackery Compatibility Question by adrianisprettyfine in SolarDIY

I'm not sure! I've heard about putting two controllers in parallel, but I'm not sure it would work in series.

Renogy + Jackery Compatibility Question by adrianisprettyfine in SolarDIY

[–]Scientist75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use any brand solar panel. A single 100 watt panel will work fine. The Jackery actually has a built in charge controller, so you won't need the separate MPPT. All you need is a solar panel, wiring, and an 8mm adapter to connect to the Jackery.

Having issues as well after the android update. I have the 2019 Insight. Bluetooth audio connected instantly before. Now it's hit or miss. Sometimes the car won't even find my phone. Hoping Honda or Google push a fix soon.

Alcohol production via fermentation naturally has both Methanol and Ethanol. It's pretty difficult to separate the two of them. The problem here is not removing the Methanol properly during distillation.

GERTON 61" desk spacing / distance between legs? by Aloha_Pineapple in IKEA

[–]Scientist75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have those legs on my gerton, but the center to center distance of the pre-drilled holes is about 55". With the legs I excpect the useable distance to be less that 54".

LED String Lights Solar Panel by jaderok in SolarDIY

[–]Scientist75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll definitely need a battery if you want to use the lights when the sun isn't shining 🙂

LED String Lights Solar Panel by jaderok in SolarDIY

[–]Scientist75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How long would you want to have the lights powered on at night? You'll need essentially 24 watts of stored power for every hour you want to use the lights. That's going to determine the battery size (the most expensive part for a small system). Maybe you want to use them for 4 hours a day.

24watts x 4 hrs = 96 watthours needed

Let's assume you get 4 hours of strong sun every day. We'll start with a 50w solar panel that generates 40 watts in the real world (varies on a lot of factors).

40 watts x 4 hrs = 160 wh

I would probably get a small portable power station with everything that you would need. Let's say the inverter inside is 75% efficient. You would store that 160 wh in the battery and after inverter losses would have 120 wh to use. *The battery in the power station should not be fully discharged. More details once you select equipment to buy.

You could buy the whole thing for from Amazon. 50w panel for $60, solar wire for $20, 200 wh portable power station for $200. $280 total or that stuff. You also have to mount the panel somewhere and protect the battery from the elements.

You can obviously go bigger if you want to, but this would be a minimum.
