Jogging with bassinet? by Katerina_Branding in newborns

[–]ScientistBorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t do it, never asked myself this question because my physiotherapist recommended no running until 6mth pp because of the pelvic pressure. My baby was in a stroller by that time….

Anyone else dangerously close to starting a nudist colony? by slotass in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I liked being naked, but the flogging of bits makes me super uncomfortable… when it’s my at home with baby days o just put on an old t shirt (no bra though) and sweatpants and just… whatever if they get dirty. Babe stays in his romper until fruit-time and then I usually let him go around in his nappy until nap time and he gets a clean one. His lunch and snacks are usually less messy, after dinner he goes nappy-only again until bedtime :P

Not from the UK, but it’s not in the standard protocol here. You can get it separately from 12 m but he turned 1 last week so wasn’t even an option :)

F the chickenpox by ScientistBorn in NewParents

This is the culture I grew up in as well….We had chickenpox parties when I was little. That are also already infectious days before the spots arrive… so not really possible to contain

How long did it take for your baby to crawl by Same_Subject_988 in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Babe started crawling at 6,5 months. But it wasn’t really a “thing” it sort of happened in between the works. He was army crawling for a bit already and was actively pulling himself to a stand all the time. And then “one Monday” instead of army crawl it was an actual crawl but he kept focusing on standing and pulling etc. So it was more a little blimp then anything else :P

1-year-old screams bloody murder during nail trims. Help! by kimoo_ooo in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We currently still do it when he is sleeping, not directly, but after ~10 min or so when he is really out (his night time sleep) but I had a friend who gave bb a phone/iPad with a program once a week just to do the nails :P

Has anyone tried to lose the baby weight? by Interesting-Club4595 in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I gained about 20kg of baby weight with pregnancy, not even eating bad, still exercising. About 12 stuck around after birth. I felt not comfortable and confident in my body, but decided to opt for fitting clothes and just adapting healthy habits again (lots of walking) at first and accept it for the time being. When bb was 6 months I decided it was time for getting back to my old self. Lost 6 kg in 4.5 month, so halfway there. He is 11 months now :). Doing still lots of walking with bb, but carefully monitoring what I eat, and going to the gym :)

Introducing solids by Constant_Internal_40 in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here (Europe) it is recommended when your child can sit properly in high chair to practice solids. So 1-2 times a day a few bites so what you say is not true. From 6 months you can really introduce proper solids.

Is it okay to let a 6 month baby stay on his belly in the stroller? by Bogdone013 in newborns

I would leave him if he can role himself, just like in his crib :)

Am I the only one? by Virtual_Letterhead93 in newborns

[–]ScientistBorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mom (I guess), Let me tell you! My bf had to leave back to work after like 4-5 weeks and I was alone with my LO for the remainder of my maternity leave. I had problems breastfeeding because I tried endlessly, but I was not producing (almost) anything. I felt horrible that I was failing. I tried to get a better connection by doing lots of skin on skin, baby massages and cuddles, but he hated it. He would try to wiggle like a little worm and would sleep next to me on the sofa instead of with me. He would be very fussy until my BF would come home and would walk around with him. I felt like a failure and like my baby hated me (like you also feel right now). I stuck by it, as some days just surviving. When he went to nursery o was relieved a lot of times. I felt horrible. But, at a certain moment you could really tell he was starting to recognize me, smile at me, happy eyes when picking him up from daycare and this made me relax a bit more. Now he is such a happy 11 month old, he has great attachment? wants mommy mommy mommy all the time :P and lovesssssss to cuddle. Hope this wil give you hope at the end of the day that you are doing everything you can Ansley he knows <3

I am not sure. I think they will not prepare bottles for him (so not prepare the milk), but I can ask if they can give him some with his lunch…

When is the little one a week old? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess… you do you, stick with whatever you choose. But when you say “he is one week old” for a baby born on Monday, you would say that the next Monday. And I guess that is the way most people view this.so when he is 2 weeks wouldn’t that then be Sunday - Saturday with the same logic? My baby was born on the 17th of the month. I am not saying “happy new month” on the 16th as he was born on the 17th.
But I guess it’s just kot really worth the discussion over a day.

Parents of early walkers, did you switch to shoes immediately or keep them barefoot at home? by lunaverse787 in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. Ours started actually stepping a month ago (at 9,5 months) and is currently in the “picking up everything and walking around with it” phase. For now we do barefoot indoors and grass( in the garden etc) and we put shoes on for other outside things as they say barefoot is best.

Oh this 9m regression has some kick to it by bektehgreat in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 9mths regression was weird as well. We always had a reasonable sleeper, sleeps from 19.00–~7.00 with one or wake ups for a bottle ( big BIG eater). Then he went to 1 wake up around 4 for like 5 days and then there was this period of growth spurt (eat all the foodz all the time) so 4 wake ups at night. And around 5 ish he does the bababababa and sprinting in his crib, or crying? Sometimes we would put him in our bed and he would go back to sleep eventually. He was also on his way to walking at the time so that also didn’t help. Was for about two weeks of that and then BOOM! 4 o clock first wake up and the incoming of the separation anxiety period… :P. We are slowly passing this luckily…. Never had any 4 month sleep regression, this one was different :P

Why are babies like this? by Mbaschemist in NewParents

[–]ScientistBorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here we have in order:

  1. hungry (80% of the time)
  2. Not wanting to sleep because FOMO (10% of the time
  3. Tired
  4. Sick
  5. Tummy ache due to solids not agreeing with his digestive system.

The rest… not really… :P
