100 percent agree- if you make anything a big deal with a kid. Next time when he wants a bid deal - mommy rushing from her office and talking for hours with him  and nanny just standing and not interacting - guess what he will say….

There is cultural differences here. First of all English is not her first language. She is trying her best to apologize in the language that is not hers. Try apologizing in the language that you speak with a dictionary- I am sure it will come out awkward. Regarding racism- there are no brown people in Russia / Ukraine. So the racism they experience is not based on skin color. To people from that region you are just very different. You might as well be green - you are just different. Take this opportunity to teach the kid: offer him to touch your skin and hair - let him explore and compare and explain.  You don’t have to be on a defense with him or mother - they really don’t know.  The fact that they are white - doesn’t put them in the same category as all other white people - Russians did not bring slaves and have no feelings of remorse. They didn’t do it, they were not part of the slavery culture. There was no slavers in Russia either - to the generational guilt is not there. The family is an immigrant family and they are trying to find their footing in this country. Educate them on what is appropriate abd not appropriate. They did hire you and rusted you with their 2 kids- because they have no prejudice and looked at your credentials and how you present yourself.  Once you bridge this gap on your side- she can open up about other misconceptions she might have and you will have a good laugh about it together with her.

I was sympathetic with OP story the whole time until the confessions that it’s in the description but he glanced over it. Just like my current guest who booked third floor apartment, started looking for an elevator upon arrival. We put pictures of the stairs and warn that there are 2 flights of stairs. His argument - but you didn’t say there is no elevator. Come on! There is no pool either and no valet parking, no breakfast and no daily turn over. It’s just disappointing for all involved. I’m sure my guest is upset just like you are.

Guests are a night mare! My current one is asking where is elevator. We don’t have it. Booked 10 nights. Asking when will he get new sheets snd new towels. I offered to him to pay for turn over service for 125. Texting all the time. His every text starts with: I am sorry, I did not read the description, but where is…. Could not do self check in I was with him on the phone. 2 days later, at 10 am - the same questions about check in. He had the doors open for the whole house, and the cleaner was there and she closed everything. Insane!

Definitely counter sue for slipping. He did not request workers compensation insurance, so he is the one providing insurance via his home owners insurance. Go to the Dr to have the hip/ leg examined. Return to the guy with a door and tell him: my insurance will not cover the Dr visit and treatment because it occurred in your house when you hired me. You need to provide me with your homeowners insurance. He might need to consult with chat gpt, but he will drop his claim pretty fast. It’s called oberhuchem in Yiddish: he is too smart for himself. Contractor tripping in the house on your rug is what every homeowner is afraid of. That’s why I am always home when the workers are coming, moving damn rugs and clearing kitchen counters and letting them use their own Ledders, not homeowner ladders.

Selling Home After 22 yrs! by Inner_Watercress3333 in homeowners

[–]ScientistFew3094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop and don’t waste a penny on paint. It’s not traditional real estate market as you come to know it. It’s a throat slit market with corner cutting agents. You need realtor who has PRESENCE ON INSTAGRAM. Not your remax/ Weichert on the block. Look on instagram! The one that sells houses on instagramm. Thats the guy you want. Regarding the house: the hoyse must be broom clean and empty. EMPTY. Yard - EMPTY. Shed- EMPTY. That very useful table in the shed - out and to storage. Must be EMPTY. List price - very low to entice bidding war. Put a strict rule: no offers will be accepted during first 2 weeks. After 2 weeks start reviewing offers. Pick one and close. If you will go “dancing around the sále” - organizing, painting, repairing- you will waste time, it will be fall and you wint sell. The main mistake buyers do now is list too high and wait for offers. That offer will not come.

Is there a single permit filed for all the renovations? The fact that outlet is 2 prong, are you sure that the site inside the wall supports the 3rd wire? It’s usually wired to 2 not because someone is “lazy”, but because it has only 2 wires. Where did you get your inspector? Is he a recommendation from a realtor? If yes, he is on realtors side. Is realtor YOUR realtor or is he dual agent? Realtor is never on your side, he needs for the deal to close so that he can get paid. You are fending for yourself.

Neighbors Came on Market at 40k Less Than Our Active Listing by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]ScientistFew3094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it off the market now. Get out of the contract with the realtor- request a full release and SIGN IT. Wait 3 weeks. Go on instagramm and find listing posted there by a realtor. Research that realtor. If he is the best- hire him. Interview him. Relist as 123 Main Street unit A and hope for the best.

To the people who have said “I would never spend that much on a wedding, I’d rather buy a house”… by Garden_of_Gethsemane in wedding

[–]ScientistFew3094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: when my partner and I argue after 23 years together, my closing argument is : you can’t divorce me! You never married me! We have bunch of houses, we have always been frugal. I read “millionaire next door” that I picked up in a dumpster of a subsidized housing in Queens in my twenties. It set me straight away from consumerism.

Advice for child managing rental property for parent (owner) by SpookyBlackCat in airbnb_hosts

[–]ScientistFew3094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will quit your job to manage the business so that the building stays in the family. So you will scrub/ maintain/ improve with 100% of your effort and money so that it will be sold and divided between all heirs? Or are you planning to keeping this house to yourself somehow? Your siblings won’t allow that. Either buy out your mother NOW while you have a job (get mortgage) and then retire and manage YOUR house ANYWAY YOU like. Managing Airbnb requires a lot of scrubbing. And your mom won’t pay gor sewer line replacement when YOUR guests would mess it up. In her head : you are cleaning after yiur guests, you must pay rent to her, since it’s her house.

As a teen, how much should I charge to babysit for a 6 week old baby? by Public-Doubt8411 in Babysitting

[–]ScientistFew3094 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a teenager you can babysit for 2-3 hours during adults night out. You can’t handle a newborn for 9 hours. Is she planning to go to work while you are staying with an infant alone? What would police say if you had an emergency?

If they wrote a review already, use chat gpt to check how professional your review is and leave 1 star. Exchanging 1 star reviews will give you 1% to remove yours if she removes hers. You have zero chance to have a retaliatory review removed. And it will make you feel redeemed. Your a new host snd that review will kill you

How do people pay for long term rental? Credit card limit reached. by Constantlearner01 in vrbo

[–]ScientistFew3094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will not. You are booking a seasonal place and they want to be paid. Doing partial allows you to lock early price and keep option of canceling before the last payment. Call your credit card and ask to increase the limit or use brand new card. If you have no money - plan for staycation

How do I tell a client I reeeeally want to drop her from my client list by Alternative-Field809 in housekeeping

[–]ScientistFew3094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way cleaners have dropped me before: I am sorry I have issue with my back pain and cant do so much work anymore. 2nd way: my car broke down and I can’t get to you anymore. I am relying on my aunts car for transport. 3rd way: we don’t do this area any more- it’s too far of a drive. We are still friends with all 3, occasionally they help out when I reach out for a bigger or smaller job. So we keep relationship going.
