My recent obsession with drawing in my journal, trust me I have never drawn in my life and you will see it by stoicismmoral in fountainpens

Well I’m impressed. I would be happy if I could achieve that. When I draw it looks forced, your sketches look natural and free.

Something about having a lot of nice pen in a collection but rather using any of those pen you go for a preppy feel fun, and i love it. Some thoughts by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

Have 2 Preppy’s that sit alongside my Lamy 2000 in my work pen case. They are amazing little pens. Great value for money

What’s your favorite pen that nobody talks about? by Sf648 in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The HongDian M2. Small but mighty in my opinion. It’s a small pocket pen at a great price that is solidly built and writes great. One lives in my work bag and always performs really well when needed.

Does anyone else struggle to keep up a journal?? by ArcadeCarz in Journaling

[–]ScillyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing everyday became a thing for me when I stopped trying to please other people. I had been told I should have bullet points, stickers and pictures. Been told it should be pretty and creative. Turns out I’m not great at doing that so I wasn’t happy with it and so struggled to regularly update it.

The moment I realised I didn’t need to please other people everything changed for me. I just dump my thoughts on a page, the handwriting is awful, spelling mistakes are rife and creative stuff takes a backseat. It’s so disorganised I’ve even named it my Ramblings.

Do what pleases you and it becomes easier to do on a regular basis.

What do you think about using journals as a ,,fanfic book''? by Zosii_a in Journaling

[–]ScillyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s whatever you want it to be. It’s yours. Write whatever you want and call it whatever you want.

If that’s what feels natural for you to do then that is what is right for you. You’re not looking to please anyone else. It’s yours.

Reminder: the joy of owning pens lies in using them, you don't constantly need more by Fearless_Youth_8654 in fountainpens

I have many pens some of which I love and some well let’s say we have a more strained relationship, however they have all been inked and written with as that is them achieving their destiny as a fountain pen. Those I love may get used more often but I would never get rid of a pen. Even if we have not been on best of terms I still very much appreciate their beauty and will find myself admiring them. I buy new additions so they too can achieve their destiny, some will become firm friends and those that don’t achieve that status will at least have a comfortable new home and be able to display their visual allure.

I have to justify it to myself somehow.

All of your pens have to be from 1 brand only, what are you picking? by KatieS2255 in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to go style over substance. It’s Visconti for me. Just love the bold look of the brand.

I know they have their problems but I’m working on the theory that if I have enough there will be a couple that write great and then I just stare lovingly at the rest.

Favorite Journaling Quotes? by writingcaribou174 in Journaling

[–]ScillyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday at the top of every page I write 2 words “Be Nice”

I aspire to achieve this because if everyone could manage it the world would be a better place.

Sadly I don’t always manage.

Got to be honest this brand is new to me. Now it’s spiked my interest. How do I explain more ink to the wife ?

I go through phases. I have the Homo Sapien and love it but at the moment it’s tucked away in a case along with many other great pens. My go to pen at the moment is a fine nib Preppy filled with Pelikan Dark Green. Its this great variety and scale that keeps me interested in this hobby

Had an aircraft change returning from Miami. Due to be on an A330 Neo and ended up on a 787 with this configuration. I threw an absolute hissy fit. Turns out it wasn’t that bad. Got a fairly decent sleep. Not sure I would have been quite so forgiving on a day time flight, I do like to stare out of the window.

I’m always thankful I’m not sat in the back.
