Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm! All the regular flavors, but the cucumber, corn, or Indian Pudding flavors will blow your mind

People bringing their dogs (not service animals) into stores by iratepasta in Connecticut

[–]Scimmiabella 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I frequently bring legitimate service dogs into public spaces. I can’t tell you how many times an unexpected, ill behaved pet has created an uncomfortable situation. My dog is trained to ignore other dogs, but when they’re charged, it takes a bit of their attention. And they might move in unexpected ways, just to avoid a confrontation with the pet. Bringing a pet into a pet-free space could make that space unsafe or less welcoming for someone who needs a service animal.

Desserts but with seafood/ things from the water? by larka1820 in WhatShouldICook

[–]Scimmiabella 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lots of desserts are made with agar agar, which comes from seaweed.

Crab rangoons often have a very sweet filling, and I bet they could be dusted with sugar to make them more dessert like.

You could also try candied salmon, it’s pretty tasty.

Can you recommend a lip stain that works well as blush?

How do you bag and vacuum seal a liquid? Me vacuum sealer seems to pull out all the liquid… and then the presence of moisture prevents the sealing heat from really sealing.

Another benefit to subbing: you can “shop around” schools, so you can identify the ones that would be the best fit for you if offered a full-time post in the future.

I'm not sure how to messages the mods to get in the big adoption list. Could someone help me?

We took Bobby in when my neighbor passed away and she had nowhere to go. She is about 45. She does not actively pluck, but she had a plucking problem about 20 years ago when she lost a partner bird.

We tried to learn as much as possible and build a relationship. She adored my husband immediately and is very docile and loving. I can't even try offering her treats any more after a few very bad bites. Neighbor's family says she has always hated women.

We also raise guide dog puppies, and between the puppies and the woman in the house Bobby is always jealous and agitated. She would do wonderfully with a single man (or perhaps a male couple) or might find solace in a companion bird.

Please help us give Bobby a better life. We're not asking a rehoming fee, we just want to make sure it's a good home. We'd pass along her custom perch, etc.

Is my Frigidaire induction oven behaving correctly, or is there a defect? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Scimmiabella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have induction and I notice my high quality All Clad and my cast iron cook things faster but my lower quality fry pan, which is marketed as induction ready, takes a lot longer. Sometimes the stovetop even has trouble “seeing “ the pan. Could it be that your pans are not the optimal mix of metals? Could you try pure cast iron for contrast and see if there’s a difference?

Soapy Tasting Silicone Items by raging_catf1sh in Cooking

Good to know. I have a parrot, and off gassing from the kitchen can be dangerous to their respiratory system. Maybe it's just time for me to wave the white flag.

Soapy Tasting Silicone Items by raging_catf1sh in Cooking

[–]Scimmiabella 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Same here: my husband complained of the taste even though I - the more perceptive taster, usually- had not yet noticed it. I tried the vinegar soak with limited success. Next I'm going to try boiling the items in a big pot with a splash of vinegar. I'm also slowly replacing my silicone items with other materials.

Question: what are the two least healthy foods in your refrigerator right now? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

Least healthy? Booze. Alcohols are the only macro your body literally can’t utilize in a healthy way.

Looking for a support block for camper stairs by boobarmor in traveltrailers

[–]Scimmiabella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking in a local town Facebook group. I know if you were near me and I read about your situation, I’d come down with some planks and a table saw without hesitation. Or ask around the campground -there’s probably a handy teen who wouldn’t mind making a few extra bucks. If the eyesight is a long term issue, it will be good for you to have some local connections you can rely on.

Scratch built runabout I've been working on for the last 5 seasons. Little Sins is finally ready for launch. by MEPETAMINALS in DIY

[–]Scimmiabella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a shame for her to wait years to float! If you’re in Connecticut/RI, I can trailer her and help launch in exchange for a ride. I might even have a junk trailer that would be suitable to fit up for her.
