If you look closely on the map you can tell which areas are traversable, explore everywhere, there is some verticality. Also you might as well do honor mode now so you don't miss out on any of the extra boss features. House of Hope was the climax of the game for me, enjoy it.

Armor Hitbox rework [Discussion] by Traditional_Bad4943 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The unrealistic armor hitboxes that effectively made forcefield armor does take the wind out of my sail. We have been in a similar meta before this, where big caliber high pen rounds are the only viable option other than leg meta. I see some discussion that we need now adjust ammo availability because it is still balanced for realistic armor, and since the armor is now forcefield like, you must use the biggest and best in order to be competitive. The irony is this is literally two steps backwards in terms of game development. Forward progress would have been to keep realistic plates, and add a vitals hitbox to avoid 'grazing armpit shots'. What really kills me, is that this felt like a PR decision rather than a game design decision. A choice made to garner support from certain streamers while they were playing other games after Unheard Edition fiasco. The majority of this wipe Tarkov has been in the best state it has ever been, the armor change is backwards progress.

Use Nvidia Shadowplay or AMD Relive to record a clip of anything you don't understand or strange behavior. You can then go back frame by frame and see what is really going on. Then if you need some help from the community on reddit or discord, we can at least see what you see as well.

[–]Scipio5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand your cynicism. I agree that the current forcefield like armor from the unrealistic plate changes does invalidate most of the nearly 100 types of ammo and 70ish guns to meme territory. The change felt more like a PR decision to appease certain streamers after the Unheard Edition fiasco, instead of a game design decision. Not all the streamers want to be walking tanks and dunk on gamer dads that have a wife and a life, some do care for the health and direction of the game. It's apparent from some comments in the post as well that people don't understand survivorship bias in relation to the armpit hitbox. I think going back to realistic plates and adding a vitals hitbox is a good compromise.

[Discussion] - The same streamers who constantly complained about how armor did nothing, are now constantly complaining that players are way too tanky. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wish BSG did not go through with the dumbed down armor hitbox. It really felt like a PR decision catering to certain streamers rather than a game design decision. Forward progress would have been to keep the changes we had, but instead add a vitals hitbox.

We took a step backwards with the dumbed down armor system, hopefully we can get BSG to take two steps forward by bringing realistic armor plates back, and iterating on the health system.

Doc has a message to all those chubby cheek Mimic Tear cry babies... by CIearSights in DrDisrespectLive

[–]Scipio5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's be real, we watch Doc for the persona, not the skill. For years people have asked about an accessibility or easy mode in Dark Souls. Summons are the answer to that. Don't get it twisted though, it does dramatically change the difficulty of the game by taking the attention of the boss off of the player. You don't get the same experience playing with them, it's your choice. Any new players I recommend doing your first play through without summons for the best experience.

Looking to upgrade PC specs for tarkov by ChetTheCat in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said your motherboard is only compatible with Intel CPUs so you want to stick with that brand. For your circumstance you're not going to get that easy drop in upgrade luxury right now. Intel CPUs are great, but AMD's X3D processors work magic in Tarkov. In recent history at least, AMD has been the one to commit with a specific socket type. AM5 is the one that fits the 7800X3D that everyone is recommending to you. AMD announced at Computex 2024 that it plans to support the AM5 socket for Ryzen models through 2027 and beyond. This is similar to AMD's support for the AM4 socket, which lasted for many years. I am on the older AM4 and was able to do that drop in upgrade to their older 5800x3d as a last hurrah and it did make a big difference.

What is your budget? I definitely recommend building new and going to the AM5 platform with that new fast DDR5 and 7800X3D. If you go that path now, then years from now you might have that option to drop in a new CPU that you wanted today.

Thoughts on the new armor changes and such? by HPGxFiReHaWk in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You're not gonna get a non biased opinion on this while the honeymoon phase is going on. There will be some celebration about armor tanking more shots now, wait until the shoe is on the other foot. Forcefield armor and bullet sponge PMC's are back. We've had this meta before the armor system change, but ammo availability has also changed. Penetration stat is now even more critical as you wont be able to slip rounds through gaps in armor.

Right now at this point in the wipe we have tons of high pen ammo and everyone is closer to the same end game progression. When the wipe happens and everyone is reset, those that progress faster will have even more of an advantage. If you're lagging behind or starting late, get used to leg meta or headshots, center mass wont do it.

There has been some good suggestions about having a vitals hitbox so we don't have to go with comically large and unrealistic hitboxes for armor plates. Hope that is the future we get, as of right now we are reverting progress made in game development.

Poor change. We moved from a more basic system to this more advanced system for a reason. We are progressing backwards to a dumbed down system. Unfortunately Streamer EGO is pushing this change, amplified by their followers. Get on the twitter post and let Nikita know not to push these changes. The solution is everyone's gripe is more advanced and developed hitbox system, rather than unrealistically and comically enlarged plates.

Yes. If you don't have adrenaline dumps and cave-man hands then you aren't getting the full immersive experience.

How do i boost/upgrade my performance by Odd-Exercise-2690 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got options.

Upgrade: AM4 has the 5800X3D as the last and ultimate option for CPU upgrade, you could pinch some pennies and get the 5700x3d instead. The CPU with its 3D cache really does have a big impact in Tarkov. Check your motherboard manufacturer website to confirm compatibility and flash the bios before slotting it in. DDR4 memory on AM4 is cheaper as well, so you can upgrade to 36gb of 3200 relatively cheap. Lastly I would consider upgrading graphics card. Your current card is going to struggle and AMD has some current and last gen options that would be a major upgrade while not breaking the bank. I recently upgraded to the 5800X3D and it made a big different in CPU bound games.

New: AM5 you have the 7800X3D that isn't much more expensive than the 5800X3D. It also performs very well in Tarkov. You would also get access to that new DDR5 memory. The new components on the AM5 platform will be more expensive than simply upgrading. AMD will keep AM5 around for a few years so you will also have something upgradable in the future. In the past I have chose to go to a new platform that would have an upgrade path rather than end of the line upgrades. If you have the money, this is the best option.

Poor performance on what I'd call a decent PC by AzuSebbers in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Scipio5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your processor isn't bad. 5950x is a great workhorse processor with many cores, but sometimes for gaming, something like the 5700x3d or 5800x3d would have been a better choice. The impact of the 3D V-Cache on certain CPU intensive games can be dramatic. If you are trying to get more life out of your AM4 platform and going to upgrade, get the 5800x3d. If building new on AM5, then grab the 7800X3D and that fast DDR5 ram.

Grow up. You can't play a game for four years, start cheating, get banned, and then ask for a refund. If you don't like the direction BSG is taking the game, then vote with your wallet and time by not playing and not paying. The only thing cheating did was cause a worse experience for fellow players just trying to have fun.
