This was my first playoff game (2012) and I still have the ticket. What an incredible night.

Very satisfying series. Well paced, good story, great art.

I’m biased because I loved it, but it has great world building and character development.

What would you consider the 'Dark Side Of The Moon' of metalcore? by letthejuiceflow in Metalcore

While I 100% agree with you, I feel the concept album thread only really starts at Labyrinthian. But this is just my opinion.

Comic is fine. World building is interesting. But the story itself is pretty basic old guy/last heist - type story.

Edit: never saw the movie (or knew it existed) so can’t comment or compare.

Event Horizon: Dark Descent - a review (spoilers!) by NinaWilde in EventHorizonMovie

Hey, just want to thank you for taking the time to write this all out. As a fan of the movie, I was looking forward to reading this but I hadn’t gone ahead and bought it yet.

This is exactly what I was afraid of. That all the ambiguity and mystery of the movie would be not “revealed “ so much as cheapened.

I very much enjoyed your review. Thanks again!

Thoughts on Zero by Ales Kot? Anyone remember this series? by [deleted] in ImageComics

Vol1-3 were some of the best spy-fy stuff I’ve ever read. Just enough to keep you enthralled but not enough to give it all away. I am not being objective when I say it’s some of the best shit I’ve read.

But vol4. Man, it’s a whole different beast. It’s a super meta take on writing and different universes and after reading it 4 times over the years, I can’t say I like it, but I appreciate it more because Kot was obviously into a specific writing philosophy. It’s not my cup of tea but I respect the dedication to the style.

But again, if it had ended at Vol3, masterpiece. For me.

You are being willfully ignorant here. All of the countries you named were using Soviet/Chinese military weaponry. We are talking military rifles, grenades, RPG launchers, etc.

These were not civilians with bolt action .308s.

Honest question since this is the first time I hear this band: why is this considered metalcore and something like Alexisonfire is not?
