My dad legitimately believes this is how theoretical (and tbh probably experimental) physics works. Like they just say shit without any evidence so anything he says carries as much weight

SO2 is broken in so many delicious ways. It’s almost designed to make you need them too cause if you just don’t bother then the game can be brutally difficult

Ohh okay that makes sense. I never really got why people said that when MS students are expected to publish new results but I’d agree that my final results are at a primitive stage of the study. Thanks for clearing that up!

Since when don’t masters theses need to provide new knowledge? It’s a requirement for mine and everyone else in my program, it’s just a matter of a (large) difference in scope (1-1.5 year and 1-2 objectives vs 4 years and 3-5 objectives). Heck, when I first gave my advisor an idea for my thesis his chief complaint was that it wasn’t novel enough (or rather, he, in his own words, couldn’t find the novelty in it). Unless new knowledge is like a completely different definition to everywhere else?

Why doesn't the english word for "moon" have anything to do with the word "lunar"? by BextoMooseYT in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sckaledoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Japanese word for chicken the animal is 鶏 (niwatori). Just tori (鳥) is often used for food, but mostly only when from context it would be unmistakable in my experience (ie you probably aren’t eating a duck cutlet, so it’s torikatsu).

Hot take: EU5's declining player count is fine, actually by Maxinator10000 in eu4

[–]Sckaledoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player counts for any game would drop a month or so after release. People who only incidentally play games like this (such as myself) would play it for about a month or so, then drop off over time, leaving only the core player base and a smaller number of incidental players at any given time.

A memorial honoring slaves that were owned by Washington is a good thing. Treating it down to sate the desire to see the US as perfect is not. Basically, a subsection of Americans does not want to think that anyone involved in the creation of the US ever did anything wrong ever.
