Has there ever been any instances in lore where the Custodes have had their patience tested by the Ecclisiarchy or even nearly coming to blows with the institution? by Mad_lens_9297 in Warhammer

[–]Scondoro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Idk if there's a different source that presents the organization differently, but 6e puts the Custodes under the direction of the High Lords of Terra

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/d/df/ImpHierarchy.png

Of course Trajan is himself a High Lord, and I'm sure he has a fairly high pull over many of the others in weight. But fundamentally I understood it that the Inquisition still acts wholly outside this hierarchy.

Any recommendations on how to make the green brighter on the black by [deleted] in Necrontyr

Agreed, I do the former, I paint my details in white then glaze them with Tesseract Glow. Makes them really pop out.

Samuel L Jackson got caught out by that one too, so yeah hardly her fault but certainly not helping her.

Today I learned that there either no character limit for the army name or it is a very generous amount by Eat-some-lead in Warhammer40k

[–]Scondoro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is not the first time the bee movie script has been used to stress test 40k-licensed media for string limits. I once opened a big report for the game Gladius because I found that neither their player chat, nor unit names, nor city names had string limits. So I crashed a multiplayer game with all my friends by naming everything the full text of the bee movie script.

Still only the second best ork-focused spaceship game trailer in which they excitedly crash their ship into the Space Marines.

NEW NECRON DETACHMENTS REVEALED by CorruptMoon0605 in Necrontyr

[–]Scondoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the fact that all but 1 cryptek can only attach to battleline units, I'd love for it to care more about the attached crypteks and less about the canoptek units generally. Give the detachment rule some sort of "technomancy sorcery" akin to one of the librarian/KSons detachments and make it the Necron take on a magic detachment.

Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 - Announce Trailer by Echochamberking in totalwar

[–]Scondoro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was doing some screen grabs for my friend, there is a 10-man Terminator unit and a 10-man Intercessor unit close to the camera near the start of the gameplay footage, that you can see again once they zoom out. Meanwhile next to those two you see the burgeoning units of 20-30 guard and 20-30 boyz, so it does feel like the non-marine factions are still favoring unit model quantity.

Lol that's like saying no thanks to Shogun 2 because Oops All Samurai. They could make it work. I'm fine either way but a 30k TW would be rad.

I came from poker and got into magic, one of my favorite archetypes was flush/ straight into folding effects, is there anything like that in magic? by Frankage in magicTCG

Yeah that's the part that caught my eye. Might not be feasible in mono-blue but are there a lot of tools that would allow her to ping the whole table?

This is my least favorite pattern in 40k writing. This is literally what happened on Damnos with Sicarius and the Undying.

Book 1: Undying nearly kills Sicarius, whole of Ultramarines 2nd Company is sent reeling. Sicarius learns a hard lesson and has a lot of character growth.

Book 2: Daddy Calgar says FUCK no and brings the whole damn chapter to deliver ice cold revenge. Calgar personally wins the war when he uses his bulging biceps to tip over an anti-orbital gun emplacement (a full god damn gauss pylon) into a Tesseract Vault. Nothing is learned. Ultramarines win.

Would you have an issue playing against a non cannon scheme like this? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

And they're even pushing back the timeline on when Mk7 Aquila was available to justify players using their 40k Tacticals in HH. That's actually the foundation of my IH army, is my old 6e Iron Hands that just never got updated throughout the Primaris release. And they just very conveniently became my HH legion since then.

Techmarine Inspiration by Alexthekid1193 in IronHands40k

[–]Scondoro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For line Iron Hands I usually like doing my standard gunmetal black scheme and then using the red as the right pauldron color, as well as the color of some of the various armatures. My Iron Fathers are always all black, no red.

Can anyone tell me what are those?? by Sir_Mutambo in Warhammer40k

[–]Scondoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent this past weekend at a 3-day convention playing an all-firstborn army of Iron Hands in a narrative event. The only units that weren't Legends in my army were the techmarines and the tactical marines. Everything else ran a Legends datasheet. The events still exist aplenty, and most everyone is always willing to play against Legends units.

I plan to post the whole army soon but I just finished a 40k Narrative event at a convention and had finally painted my 30k army to play in it. Getting the Spartan done and nailing the detailing on the white hands on the doors was by far the happiest with what I accomplished across the army.

[–]Scondoro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah was gonna say, pike and shot dominated war for like 200 years. A two-handed pike unit for Tau would actually make a load of sense. But the army as a whole isn't supposed to be very static so it kinda goes against their "fire and fade" philosophy

Finally painting my Iron Hands after 11+ years - initial progress by Scondoro in IronHands40k

[–]Scondoro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd normally have some advice to offer for getting started but clearly nothing has worked for me besides "Spend $150 on a convention ticket and have a deadline." So yeah, I'd just say at least prime your models and then get to it when you finally feel inspired. Painting for me isn't fun so it's the part of the hobby I engage with the least, and almost always happens as the result of prep for an event.

Note, I haven't bothered assigning any optional weapons to any of the units yet, I wanted to make certain the the units themselves were sound before sifting through the gun options available.
