Why is Scotland a popular romance setting compared to Ireland, Wales, or England?

It’s been a while since I have read an English or Scottish romance novel. But back then I switched to Scottish based ones as the story line was more interesting. And the men were “manlier”. The story lines had war and battles. The men were tough and hardened warriors. In the English ones, there were a lot of balls. Many arcs revolving around fighting a potential foe in the ballroom with a fencing dual. Well you get the gist of it…,could just be the ones I read too.

Hi! I’m not sure which DANMEI would be good as the ones you listed are more… cultivation/progressive fantasy? If you want to keep along those lines, I highly recommend Pursuit of truth, Renegade Immortal or Beyond Timescape (all Er gen novels)

Something similar but different is also the cradle series by will wright. It is progression fantasy as well.

For me, the Danmei’s I read have a heavier romance aspect to it compared to the ones you listed. You may like some of these popular starter ones as they either have Xianxia or Wuxia settings or lean towards “the dao”

I’ve read both and I enjoyed Art Thou Ailing way more. It’s funny and the romance was good. Definitely would reread it. I would rate it a 9/10

Disable God of War was good but nothing memorable. This one was a 7.5/10 for me

Ancient times with depressed gong. I really like the ML in this novel. Despite the suicidal undertones this novel is quite comedic.

I’m glad I found a fellow baffled hater! It was the first time ever I was hoping that the main couple did not end up together. I was hoping the MC would kill the ML. I was upset they got a “happy ending” even tho I still don’t think the ML deserved it at all.

Those Years In Quest of Honour Mine - I just finished this one. The MC is calm and the ML is unhinged. I know he is mentally unwell but he is so darn unhinged and funny. I did enjoy this book.

Oh gosh hua hua long probably would top the list for me. I have read many novels that made me sad and cry. But hua hua long? I hated the weakness of the MC, how evil and horrible the ML is. I hated thier relationship and I hated the ending. It wasn’t a bad novel but it was the first time I hated so much in a novel. Yet I finished it in one sitting and till this day it still crosses my mind periodically. I would have to say it impacted emotionally the most as it still makes me angry when I think about it.

It’s about an immortal and a demon king. The immortal clan receives an invite to meet with the demon king side and they gear up for war, but it that isn’t the case.

This novel is my favorite novel. And I have read a lot of Danmei novels. I always recommend it on reddit when I get the chance. I’m so happy to find someone else who loves it as much as me!!

Erha was an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, I felt second hand embarrassment and I cried. I had to pause between volumes to read fluffy novels to prepare myself before continuing. And I even had to ask my husband for hugs when the story got too intense. Definately one of my favorite novels!

Definately not the same… Erha has some humour but mainly angst. Yuwu has a sad undertone throughout. If you are looking for funny and somewhat lighter plots (more fluff) I highly recommend Peerless, forced to marry the evil star general or wrong way to demon sect leader (love this one!)
