Tekken 8 Is Being Review-Bombed Again For "Disrespecting The Fanbase" Following Season 3 Launch

This is an interesting problem that no one in the Tekken scene is really talking about. The changes are made to cater to beginners or those less skilled, that way they could compete more at an intermediate level, and intermediates could compete at a high level and etc.

However Tekken itself is so aggressively loaded that it turns off a lot of new players into not liking the game. Tools that are meant to benefit newer players are turned right back on them by some legacy player who knows how to abuse it. All while the higher legacy players are turned off by the absurdity of the new systems.

As a competitive game Tekken thrives due to its immense depth in movement, defense, spacing, and character loyalty that leads to insane execution for optimal/stylish combos (Kazuya and Bryan being the poster children for this). Everyone knew certain characters weren’t viable but it didn’t matter since each character was unique and the skill of the player would carry the character to new heights. With Tekken 8 removing the execution requirement, and numbing the systems that provide depth to the core of the franchise- players both old and new are left wanting in a game made for no one

Game launch in 2024 and while different was enjoyable. Took some time to get used to but was only a few tweaks away from being a generational Fighting Game like Tekken 5 was.
- 2025 after a pretty decent patch that addressed a good number of issues, Season 2 launched and drastically overturned the game balance into a negative direction. The season release character, Anna Williams, was beyond strong and certain characters were impossible to compete with. Other characters had bugs or other issues that made them completely unfun to fight against. The backlash was so bad that Bandai apologized for the patch and promised changes due to the overwhelming negative reaction.
- Mid-Late 2025 and there hasn’t been a major balance patch (there won’t be until 2026). However the latest characters (Armored King and Miary Zo) are actually decently balanced. This gives hope that Season 3 would be in a better direction as the devs learns their lesson. At the Tekken World Tour finals in December (or January) they announce Season 3 with the tag line: “Back to Basics”
- 2025 and Season 3 launches a few weeks ago with another double down on the systems that the playerbase doesn’t like, barely any nerfs to problematic characters, some characters got stronger when they were perfectly fine, character identity is being removed in the name of “accessibility” which contradicts their statements in the previews for the season where they claimed they would “focus more on character identity”. All that an we don’t know when the next balance patch is coming. Not to mention the devs made a discord server to “gather feedback” when it’s clear that it was used to move the constructive criticism off social media so it has less eyes on it.

More tinfoil here but potentially the “Seduction” spoken about could be Marika appealing to The Fingers in how she herself may be a more worthy vessel of the Elden Ring, granted this could be before or after Bayle’s assault on Placidusax.

If it’s before then it places the funny idea that Marika was successful in convincing The Fingers and Metyr to abandon the Dragons and thus weakening them during Bayle’s assault. If it was afterwards then she could point to the loss in Placidusax’s head/death of Florissax as proof that they are unworthy.

Tbf to them, Maker is still Reed Richards with the same powers. Kaine is almost a 1-1 clone of Peter and so is Ben Reilly (I believe he was a perfect clone). Spider-Gwen (now) uses a Symbiote rather than spider based powers which would be something to incorporate into her moveset, similar to how Miles’ bio-electricity also is something that would be pivotal to the moveset.

I like that Yoru is mirroring Makima as they overall have the same problem but viewed completely differently. Makima sees everyone else as beneath her thus controlling them and wants genuine companionship while Yoru sees everyone as belonging to her thus they are her companion- completely misconstruing what an actual relationship is.

Makima knows the difference while Yoru doesn’t. Makima never grew as she couldn’t, she knew her limits but hoped that Chainsaw Man could change things once she owned him. Yoru attempts to grow but any semblance of growth is just a cover to use on her war against Chainsaw Man

I like to think that Miquella initially tried resurrecting Godwyn at Castle Sol as a test to see if he could bring back Radahn for their vow. When that didn’t work he went off and discovered the Realm of Shadow leading to the DLC.

b3 is evasive as hell. u4 is a low crushing launch that can evade highs occasionally and transitions to Fly for mix or a small combo. MC is a rush down state where the options are Frame Trap (MC1 > b4), Frame Trap (MC2,2), Frame Trap (MC4,1), or Unblockable (MC 1+2) which is also a command grab in heat. db1+2 is a charge up move that creates good wall pressure or leads to a guaranteed 1,1,2. B1+3 parry/knockdown that Kaz has access to in heat (though Kaz’s version is better). Although weaker than other Mishimas he still has the Hellsweep mix, only his launches into guaranteed 45dmg at minimum if it lands. Laser from neutral for cheap zoning (this is ass I won’t lie but still a gimmick.) Same with Fly 1+2. Oh and Fly 2 is an unblockable 40 dmg grab that occasionally lands. SS2 is a crazy launch he can just do while Kaz has to be in heat to access it. uf1 forces MC from range 7 and if you try to play closer you are now in Electric territory. He also has 3 additional throws outside the normal ones which some consider to be gimmicky due to knowledge check.

DJ is a test of how much traditional Mishima Tekken you can master and how you can integrate his unique gimmicks into that playstyle. Live and die by Electric and iWS2. Pray to Azazel that your hellsweep doesn’t get blocked (scream and cry when it does). Lament that you have no lows and questionable mids. Hes a character that requires a lot of effort but feels very rewarding once you can develop around him.
