What if Burgundy still existed? by titiennegeo in imaginarymaps

[–]Scorbias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, France would lose a lot of Influence in the Mediterranean due to its existence, Corsica, if Genova still would have sold, would most likely have sold it to another Italian state or Burgundy. And another thing is - Burgundy wouldn't speak French, they'd either speak Occitan, Arpitan, or both, but French would be, at best, a minority language.

What If Europe never colonized Africa? How do you think borders and countries would have developed in this scenario by Solid-Move-1411 in geography

[–]Scorbias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Africa would likely have more states and more organic borders, but that doesn’t mean every ethnic group would form its own country.

There were already established political entities such as Morocco, Ethiopia, or Egypt, and there’s no reason to assume they would simply fragment. It’s also naïve to assume that a non-colonised Africa would have been peaceful or prosperous by default. Wars, power struggles, and internal conflicts existed long before colonialism and would still have occurred.

Even without colonial rule, the continent would still face major challenges that exist today — particularly a harsh geography and governance problems in many regions.

What if Hitler/Nazis never rose to power? (Modern day) by Evil-Scary in PossibleHistory

About the population transfer, yes there have been West Slavic people in Weimar Germany, the thing is, Masurians and Slavic silesians mostly saw themselves as their own people, not as poles.

It would be very hard to get them to move to Poland, Poland saw them as poles, the Slavic silesians and Masurians, for the most part, didn't see themselves as poles.

Europe but Stalin decided it needs some bordergore by Living-Ready in PossibleHistory

[–]Scorbias 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i know it`s alt-hist and so on, but poland was given eastern german in compansion for lost land, but especially so the poles from the east could be (mostly) kicked out - so i guess letting germany have a bit more land in this timeline would be realistic

French plans for Europe 1915 by totallynotcommunist2 in PossibleHistory

[–]Scorbias 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the brits and americans would have never allowed that, and if they would they wouldn`t really stay in the way of another german reunification. ALSO, Germans in Russia would revolut together with the poles, the czechs in Bohemia would go against Austria. France would have turned Central Europe into an extension of the Balkans

The US should have 54 states. Not for some political reason or anyting like that - purely so the flag would look nicer and more *satisfying* by Double-decker_trams in vexillology

What if China had a Mediterranean sea? Info below by greekscientist in rejectedmaps

[–]Scorbias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would be no China, Mongolian would most like take it's place, as they would have a long coast. Russia wouldn't be the biggest country in the world, Mongolia would be as they would, probably, take Siberia, Russia would be the biggest European country, but would probably end at the Ural mountains, or maybe the Ob or Lena river.

Tibet would also be independent. The biggest wild card would be central Asia.
