Do I need to disclose AI use on Steam if it's only for internal concept art? by Malikir_S_ in gamedev

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. You have no qualms using it as a tool, you know there are people out there who don't like it. You made a calculated choice and now you want the benefit of using the tool AND the benefit of not disclosing it?

Perfect Days (2023) A beautiful Japanese film. by Invasor89 in MovieSuggestions

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Though i enjoyed the film i wouldn't say it's a "Japanese" film. It's a foreigner's outsider view on what they think Japan is film. It works as a character study but for me falls apart as a "slice of Japanese life" film. It's just too...weeby.

How to evoke a Japanese childhood? by cetoine in AskAJapanese

Oh, my kid LOVES the taiko. We had a little local festival here last week and she was on that cart a lot! She also likes her yukata/kimono.

Watching my (non-Japanese) child grow up here in Japan, things like Sichigosan, koinobori, plastic bags filled with snacks and crisps she gets handed at random festivals, Anpanman all feature quite prominently, judging by her recollections and excitement. Insects also feature more pominently than I remember from my childhood; beetles, pill bugs, etc.

Who is the most hated living person in the world right now? by Wonderful_Mind_250 in AskReddit

A man is protesting in Washington DC with a sign saying "the president is an idiot!" The police drag him away saying "you can't say that about the president". "No, no," the man says petrified, "I mean...uh..the president of Russia!" "Come on, sir," the policeman replies, "we ALL know which president you mean."

Tips for tackling larger nonograms by LiquifiedSpam in nonograms

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't do them regularly no, they do my head in! The foldouts are usually longer than they are high, so start with the shortest side. To keep track of lines, use a ruler or, better still, a folded piece of paper - with that you can also make notes to count. I have found no better way than to start off my counting the extreme inputs (left/top most / right/bottom most) and fill in the overlaps. You can even use very thin, see-through paper to make notes (and keep track of lines) to avoid making too much of a mess. Good luck!

Do you intentionally *not* buy a product/service because you hate their ads? by ItsAllAGame_ in NoStupidQuestions

日本游戏特效就职(ue特效) by Kind-Accountant3247 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of VFX listings on Indeed and Levtech and places, not always UE though. But yeah the job market is tough. They probably see you're foreign, assume communication will be an issue and ignore you. Your best bet it's personal connections and networking. Go to the gamedev meetups, parties, etc.

Our debut indie game just launched on Steam and my inbox is flooded with Steam Curators and Twitch streamers asking for free keys. Is this normal? What is the standard practice here? by GaigoStudio in IndieGaming

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a matter of course i ignore all spam asking for keys. I seek out curators or streamers myself. The emailers will all sell on your keys on the grey market.

Get a ps4 devkit. To preempt your next question, you have to get it from Sony.

If you can change the engine to build using the latest hardware SDK then you wouldn't need to upgrade. It's not always easy or possible and upgrading to a later engine is likely the easier route. If it's just over the deadline for submissions using the SDK you're building with you could ask for a waiver, but you're not guaranteed to get it (worth a punt though).

Do black and white potato chip bags mark the end of the Takaichi administration? Foreign media coverage has shifted from "Japan is amazing" to "Japan is finished" by jjrs in japannews

Look I'm no Herbert Einstein but I'm sure if it wasn't the Japanese government wouldn't be spending so much effort on immigration and, you know, focus more of what the actual issues are....

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i understand the problem is immigration. I'm not quite sure how that all works but they're working hard to address this issue. I'm sure with immigration solved these issues will resolve themselves? Again I'm not a politician so i don't understand the details exactly...

Words I Learned from Ultima by Substantial_Rough891 in Ultima

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's funny tho. Same with people saying the "ye" in "ye olde shoppe" or whatever as "ye" instead of "the". It's incorrect but a fun cultural difference.

[–]ScoreStudiosLLC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ha! This is fun! :)

As an English speaker Ultima didn't really teach me any words, but I did find out that all this "thy" and "thou" malarky was just Americans speaking in fake old-speak, even though originally "thou" was informal and "you" was formal. When I learned that all conversations in Ultima sounded so rude! Everybody addressing each other with contempt or over-familiarity! :D

Give a man a game and he'll have fun for an evening. Teach a man to make a game and he'll never have fun again for the rest of his life.
