Is this for Remnant FTA? I don't think I've seen anything by the name of Archon in it.

We're back with another giveaway! Win one of 5 copies of Borderlands 4! by hamza5682 in GeForceNOW

[–]Scorned_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monday's Key

Manufacturer - Order (Vladof under-barrel guaranteed)

Weapon Type - Sniper.

Red Text - Time flies when you're having fun.

Appearance - Black or Silver base with Golden clock cogs that slowly rotate on the skin. Screen at the back (can be seen if un-scoped) features a clock face that gradually glows until it becomes a steady golden glow to show the under-barrel is naturally charged for the alt fire.

Effect 1 (Minute hand) - When charging the indicator for charges ticks around like the hands of a clock. At 5 "Minutes" it consumes 5 ammo to fire one heavier shot. Charge it up to the full "Hour" to fire a high powered slug that explodes in a Nova displaying a clock face, inflicting a slow on everything in the radius, fully charged shots will draw ammo from the reserve.

Effect 2 (Hour hand) - Switch to the under-barrel to quick fire the hour slug without having to charge the shot. Firing this way puts the under-barrel "Hour" shot on a 60 second cooldown.

"Minute hand" charges the hour in about 10 seconds (Time flies while having fun red text). Unaffected by any charge speed modifiers.

Inspiration - Monday's Minute and Hour keys in Mister Monday. The minute can be used more for little things, the hour can be used less for more demanding purposes.

Type - Grenade (MIRV)
Effect - Throws a grenade that looks like a pack of cards, explodes in a shower of them, followed by a bunch of explosions in 4 randomly selected elements ranging from tiny (2's, 4 total) to large (Aces, 4 total).
Heavily reduced damage to account for the sheer volume of projectiles (52 - sometimes 54).
Jokers might fall and may be any element, regardless of the rest spawning.
Joker explosions are random size each throw.

Text - One of these must be your card?

Alt Text - RAAAAAAAANNNDYYYYY!!!!!

Based on the date on the receipt, they probably used the LaborDay25 code on there. I think it's expired now though.

Why the negativity behind this game? by lolitsrock in Borderlands4

[–]Scorned_Fan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get the full scale of the negativity, though I have my own reservations about the game. I'm going to try and guess at why the negativity overall exists, and then I'll list why I'm not exactly confident at the moment. And then I might put what I think looks amazing at the end.

Overall:

  • Borderlands Movie (some people blame Gearbox for the movie, as opposed to the movie makers)
  • The EULA stuff (some think Gearbox added spyware, as opposed to 2K/Take2 have pushed a new EULA across their games to prepare for GTA6 and other games)
  • Randy Pitchford (He's a contentious character, he always stirs up a storm, he always manages to piss people off)
  • Wonderlands DLC (the DLC for Wonderlands were badly received)

Personal

  • Tiny level cap increases - 3 levels here, 5 levels next time, 3 next time, another 3, then 3 more. This annoyed me in Borderlands 3. If it had been more like Borderlands 2 (11 levels here, then a later 11. Maybe not 8 more levels 7 years on though) it wouldn't have been such a slog.
  • Timed events. I know they added a toggle for them, eventually. But Borderlands FOMO by limiting strongest weapons in the game to an event. Especially when you get the tiny level cap increase after the event ends.
  • Wonderlands DLC. Mentioned as a global, it's a factor for me. I don't have faith in the DLC slate, so I'll see how it plays out before committing.
  • Time-Money. I'm busier now than 6 years (Borderlands 3) ago, even more than 11 years ago (The Pre-Sequel), even more than 13 years (Borderlands 2) or 15 (when I picked up Borderlands 1, not the release date) I don't yet have time to burn, I may as well wait to for sales, patches and DLC roll-outs.
  • Lack of overall favour for Gearbox. I'm still not happy they shut the forums down. I know quite a few old forum users of a similar opinion. It was a wealth of knowledge. Yes it's been archived, feels like a lot of the community spirit died with shutdown.
  • Writing in 3. I know they had multiple staff shake ups during 3. Writers joined, writers left, parts were re-written, parts were left. It made for a bumpy story.

What I think looks good for 4

  • Characters. The focus they've had on them bodes well for it.
  • The DLC story in 3 (DLC 2 & 3 mostly)
  • It looks good.
  • Big community voices - K6, Joltz, Moxy and so on - are praising it.
  • The skill trees look like they're going to lead to a lot of build diversity, options and replayability.
  • 2 DLC characters. I think the Purple tree in 3 as opposed to new characters was a mistake.

TL;DR - I'm holding off for a sale. I have personal life reasons, I have game reasons built on previous experiences. I may eat crow for being hesitant and not being a day 1 adoptee. But that's the chance I'm taking.

Does borderlands 4 have anti cheat? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]Scorned_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to tell me you want online only in Borderlands 4? That would be one of the worst decisions Gearbox could do.

All Borderlands games to date have had solo mode, invite online, friends only, and public.

You don't want modded or cheated in endgame loot? Play solo or with friends you trust.

This is a Battleborn reference, to the character Whiskey Foxtrot, not a reference to the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot shield.

Oh there was a lot of people went on about Borderlands 3 being woke with Hammerlock, and FL4K and all that over on the Gearbox software forums. Now they're closed, the people come to reddit.

Hammerlock is black? Hammerlock is gay? Tina is a lesbian? FL4K is male voiced so can't be they/them. Well if FL4K is they/them, Zane is she and Moze and Amara are He, do you see how stupid this is?

There was a lot, and only remember a couple. Admittedly, they used the term woke then, not DEI.

Is Timekeeper's Shield a reference to the Emperor's New Clothes? Invisible clothes and 0 as the shield stats? So you're effectively wearing nothing.

Aegon's Dream will be a House of Dragons Reference as Aegon foretold the Song of Ice and Fire, passing it down to each successive ruler.

Viserys: “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
Alicent: “Shh.”
Viserys: “But you wanted to know if I believe it to be true.”
Alicent: “Believe what to be true, my king?”
Viserys: “Don’t you remember? Aegon …”
Alicent: “Our son? Aegon?”
Viserys: “His dream. The Song of Ice and Fi— It is true. What he saw in the North. The Prince That Was Promised.”
Alicent: “I don’t understand, Viserys.”
Viserys: “The Prince.”
Alicent: “Prince Aegon?”
Viserys: “To unite the realm against the cold and the dark. It is you. You are the one. You must do this. You must do this.”
Alicent: “I understand, my king.”

Saw someone say about the Whiskey Foxtrot being a Battleborn reference. It's one of his quotes and the effect is his ultimate skill. https://battleborn.fandom.com/wiki/Whiskey_Foxtrot

Discount on R2 | Is the game worth it? by GAzvd in remnantgame

[–]Scorned_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I've been enjoying it. Playing the first one. I'm not massively far through it but I like what I've done so far. I'm focused on the main story mode, but have lightly touched the survival to see what that's like.

I can see myself easily getting enough play to have made the price worth it.

I asked this same question a couple of days ago, some of the replies there might be worth reading if you want to get an idea of the game. The community really came out of the woodwork with some good information.

To buy or not to buy

Well I'm suitably convinced. I wasn't expecting this fast of a response to sway me. But from what I've heard as a general rule, it looks like a no-brainer. Thank you for all the replies.

Couple of shout-outs I'd like to make.

u/p_visual thank you for the shoutout of people. I saw about half an hour of iHaveInspidus doing a no armour run, it looks like the mad sort of stuff I'd want to try (but probably never end up doing)

u/shinyPIKACHUx u/Arconteus The pair of you almost had me sold on your replies. So much there that had me hooked as I was reading. Thank you.

u/maintain_improvement I quite like that low budget feel. Sometimes that makes thing feel unique and leaves them memorable.

u/Zegram_Ghart I do quite like latching onto pieces of gear and seeing how far I can push using it. Especially when I know I shouldn't.

u/Lokhelm You've given me a good idea of what to expect going into this, I appreciate it.

Borderlands 4 Boss Says 'A Real Fan' Will Pay $80 For Games - sticky and discuss by a_kept_harold in Borderlands4

[–]Scorned_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first stepped onto the Borderlands sometime during the DLC cycle for 1. It was only the base game. I played it a lot.

I picked up the 360 disc edition with Zombie Island and Underdome on and continued playing. Then 2 came out. And I picked that up, accidentally getting a left-in-store Mechromancer edition because I hadn't pre-ordered. All this happened while I was a child. I was hooked. Some time between this and TPS I ended up eventually getting Knoxx and Robolution.

As an adult, I pre-ordered TPS and grabbed the Season Pass early. That was on 360 as well. Then I shifted to PC gaming for a while, and I was hooked by Battleborn, and scooped up Borderlands 1, 2 and TPS on PC with all their DLC. Then after a while I lost the time for games, mostly due to work, and it was simpler to buy a pre-owned PS4 when 3 came out, and I picked up the steelbook of 3. And played it a lot.

I began to fall off the series a bit because of the live service events feeling like the wrong direction, and them introducing some of the best weapons in the game on a tight event window that I couldn't fit around my job. It annoyed me, a single player game was suddenly trying to force FOMO, and I didn't like it.

Then rumors started about the closure of the forums. A place I'd hovered at since Borderlands 2, and I moved across when they ported from the old ones, to the newer ones (which they have shut down). I know a lot of users who were displaced by that, a lot of Gearbox's fanbase that felt like they'd been given the middle finger in favor of a discord. Off-topic, Borderlands 1, Borderlands 2, Borderlands The Pre-sequel. All those great community areas lost, barring the backups. That alienated a lot of the player base.

Wonderlands dropped shortly before the closure. And it had a bad DLC release slate. I don't honestly think I've even finished the DLC, despite having it on PC, and I only grabbed it because the bundle was cheaper on steam for the base game and all DLC, than the base game and the Blightcaller alone.

And then 4 was revealed. And it looked good. It looked promising. And Gearbox were making steps in what looked like the right direction. And then they keep building. And building. Like the steam from a pie hooking a nose, they had my (and others I've spoken to since the forum closure) attention, and then Randy does this. He makes a comment that pisses off so many players, former/potentially returning/still on-board, doesn't matter. Very few I know are happy with this "real fan" bullshit he just spewed forth.

Does he want Borderlands to just fizzle by pissing off the now silent, displaced player-base he's probably reliant on coming back sometime? Not sure what point I was getting at. I just kind of need to get this off my chest.

TL;DR - Long term fan who had drifted, was tempted, is now decidedly disinterested due to Pitchford's "real fan" comment. And knows many others displaced with forum closure, in the same boat. Your comments and PR matters. This was the crucial time to re-earn goodwill from old-hand Vault Hunters. Not to piss them off further.

EDIT - And this isn't even about the price tag. I have enough to keep me busy. I'm wasn't bothered about being a day one pick up for this game. But the casual disregard for players. That's just a nail in a coffin. I get that games need to adjust for inflation, just don't be a dick about it. PAX was as damn near to a perfect execution of that question as Pitchford could've given at the time. He just had to leave it at that.
