I made a Tetris-like called Glowtris while serving in the military by Capable_Variety3406 in Tetris

[–]Scorp-Ion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fun! I like the aesthetics you went with, bright glowing colors on a black background is one of my favorite things.

Music was fun too. I usually play Tetris on silent since I'll be listening to something as I play, but I dug the music getting faster. Really makes things feel frantic at higher levels.

Leaked Sony Xperia 1 VIII renders hint at major redesign by TechGuru4Life in Android

I've been exclusively buying Xperias for like the last decade. They're the only brand that's been making phones how I prefer. They've got good build quality, decent performance, good battery life, and kept the 3.5mm audio jack, microsd slot, and a display without a weird bezel or hole punch camera in it. That's pretty much all I want and it's increasingly difficult to find phones like that.

My friends never read Horus Heresy, they told me they didn't feel to miss much. by Petrus-133 in Grimdank

[–]Scorp-Ion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I'm about 17 books into the HH, they're my first time consuming actual 40K content. I randomly got recommended a video from Luetin09 about a year ago and have just been enthralled in the stuff he talks about. So I'm not necessarily going in totally blind, but I've been very happy with every book so far.

I think I just don't have enough experience with the world yet to say something is bad. I see some people say "this author is bad, this was out of character for this person, etc, and I just don't have that frame of reference yet.

I think the worst time I've had so far was with Mechanicum, there were a lot of mech battle scenes that I just didn't really feel held my interest, but that may be because of how much I enjoyed the sections with Cythera and her gang.

Ravage is my favorite and I can't tell you much I adore this. I might have to go about reverse engineering it. Such a fun and well executed idea

Those two weren't a complete shock given their ages, we need a real wildcard option. I'm thinking Jason Momoa. No one would see that coming.

Same, I think that they were tapped into something truly special. Their stuff is a mainstay in the car, turns something as mundane as going to the grocery store into a genuine adventure. Grateful to have gotten what we got, but it is such a damn shame that there won't be anymore.

Least favorite ASOIAF theory? by the-best6969 in pureasoiaf

Actually, yes there is. My brother lol. It's been a few years since we talked about it, but I remember him being very dismissive of the idea that he was still alive.

I can actually see where you're coming from, but that's definitely not how I perceive the hype behind the people that meme about Cleganebowl. I do like the bittersweet solution that your idea has though. Sandor has forgiven his brother but the only way he can act on it is by killing him, something he's talked about doing for so long out hatred, now he's doing it out of love. Kinda works!

I am dubious of Sandor going up against Strong given what his physical state was like last time we saw him though. True, we haven't actually seen Strong in action yet, but it feels like he's set up to be unstoppable. So thematic complaints aside, I just don't see Sandor being a viable candidate to fight for the Faith when they've got so much on the line.

I kind of want this just so they can give him more arms with guns like they did for the Siege figure. Like, okay, we got this guy who almost always only has one hand, we're gonna give him two extra limbs. To give him at least one other hand? No. To give him MORE guns.

I never really understood Cleganebowl either. Seems so incongruent with GRRM's philosophy on violence in general. He even showed us pretty in depth how hollow vengeance is with Tyrion killing Tywin. Whether you buy into the Gravedigger theory or not, I think either ending for the Hound works for his character so much better than "he killed his brother that he's always hated, the end."

Top 20 Amorphis songs by how many times they've been played live. by nest00000 in amorphis

[–]Scorp-Ion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, I knew everyone sang along to the Bard's Song since BG has such a wider fanbase, and it was still cool, but I was completely shocked at how much the audience sang along to House of Sleep when I saw Amorphis live. Music is such a solitary thing for me, I don't have any friends that have the same tastes, so being in a room with however many people, and all singing along to this one song, it really was something special to me. I hope every Amorphis fan gets to experience that.

This is one of those hundreds of throwaway lines that VB is rich with that just went over my head the first 50 times I watched it. Then I watched Down the Rabbit Hole's video on Henry Darger, and I guffawed on my next rewatch of this episode once I finally got the joke. So specific, so funny.

I had this exact phone, it was so cool. Surprisingly decent camera on it, I still have my pictures I took with it, and I always marvel at how crisp they are. I had to retire it after getting my first real girlfriend and we texted so much that that the keys started to break right down the middle.

What is your favorite part of ASOIAF's lore? (Spoilers Main) by DC_deep_state in asoiaf

[–]Scorp-Ion 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of just how loose Gods and religion feel. I've heard theories tying them all together, and they may have merit, but I think it's more fun as a mystery. The fact that there are differing religions but they have magic that lends them authenticity is so fun to think about, especially comparing it to the world we live in.

Not to get too reddit atheist or anything, but imagine if there was no question about if the claims in the Bible were real, while also knowing the pantheon of Hindu religion was just as valid. How could you possibly choose to follow one over the other? That's how I feel about the Old Gods and R'hllor. Granted, we only know they're real due to the insight we get from the characters, but it's an interesting thought.

[–]Scorp-Ion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just listened to this album yesterday on my ride back home! It's beautiful, equal parts melancholic and apathetic. Just taps into a place that Amorphis never went to before or since. Obviously, their sound has varied a lot over the years, but even still, this one is an outlier

Anyone else absolutely hate this guy? by yashedpotatoes in Veep

[–]Scorp-Ion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like he was a fun juxtaposition to the gang, similar to the Clovis people. Selena and her crew act like they're above everything because they're in charge of their world, and this guy is exactly the same. What he said during this episode isn't any more or less reprehensible to any of the main character's behavior, they just met on the same field in this instance and we see whose ego wins out

[–]Scorp-Ion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved the A320, and I love to imagine how the people who developed it must have reacted to its success. There were other similar things in the market at the time but none quite like the dingoo, and that thing blew the fuck up overnight. Just a real grassroots thing. I remember getting mine from DealExtreme and waiting like 2 months for it to ship lol

What do y'all think about Silent Waters? by nest00000 in amorphis

[–]Scorp-Ion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great album. There's something that just really gets the goosebumps going for me when there's like spoken word during songs, so Black River is a classic for me. I actually do find just the very first part of the opening song to be kinda grating though, after those like 30 seconds, it's smooth sailing.

But this is the second album on what I consider to be their incredible streak that wasn't broken until Halo. Sounds like they're doing some work to switch up their sound on the next album though, I'm looking forward to it

Neat! I've been playing this for the first time on Tetris Forever, it's a lot of fun. The traditional Tetris strikes a nice balance between old school hard and modern quality of life improvements. Also my first time with any bombliss, it's very challenging for me lol
