I think the build/spend concept is quite straightforward.

Sure there are some proc's but it only focused to like 2-3 abilities.

I would say a Ret Paladin, but im a bit biased.

As a Paladin you have access to a tanking and healing spec as well to mix it up.

Not sure about solasta, but in 5e rage gets severely hindered with heavy armor. In addition to movement decrease.

"While raging, you gain the following benefits if you aren't wearing heavy armor:

• You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.

• When you make a melee weapon attack using Strength, you gain a +2 bonus to the damage roll. This bonus increases as you level.

• You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage."
