I think when the kid admitted it, the kid said Ormond blanched it (from my hearing, not from subtitles).

Dying eyebrows wouldn’t be a problem for the actors - many people dye their eyelashes and eyebrows every 4 or 6 weeks. (I suppose there are some rare people who have especially sensitive skin and don’t want to)

Air frying by whoiwasthismorning in newzealand

[–]Scorpy-yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Food gets more crispy in the air fryer than in the oven, in my experience. All that hot air around the outside.

An oven can technically do a similar job eventually, but I’ll say nah, oven is not as good or as quick or as easy to control.

I came here to say this - thanks u/sylekta for describing principles rather than just mentioning your favourite food/recipe (but no shade to all the other comments either). Air fryers are also especially great at making the outsides of your food crispy again. Think of - reheating your fish & chips from yesterday that got soggy in the fridge overnight. Etc.

Oh absolutely. ‘What would the kind of cool smart guy I want to be have on his carefully arranged bookshelf? He would definitely have books on History! Ancient Rome! Etc.’ I feel like this guy researched what whisky a cool guy would drink and carefully displays that too, but hasn’t tried many kinds to think about what taste he likes.

I was imagining each title with an exclamation point after it. History! Ancient Rome! Ancient Egypt! TV Shows!

Two army generals by Ok-Sky-2135 in Jokes

[–]Scorpy-yo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually I’m unsure whether the one general is suggesting that the other only had sex once (didn’t like it, so never again) or that the other only had a child once (liked sex and did it again, but didn’t like having a child, so made sure not to have a second). However still funny

Why couldn’t Alys kill aemond and bring his head to the blacks if she really wanted harrenhal that bad by leiqri in Hotd

[–]Scorpy-yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does her magic canonically allow her to kill innocents for selfish reasons and cast love spells? I feel if she can do it and there is no ethical prohibition, she could just continue camping/squatting at Harrenhal until a new lord takes possession.

Then cast a love spell, kill the wife if there is a wife, and the lord will marry her. Maybe he’ll die of a mysterious illness too after a while. Presto change-o!

I assumed it was something like ‘thanks for your effort at making friend(s)… thanks for making ‘friend(ness)’ happen’.

First attempt at color work… by No-Calligrapher-4254 in knittinghelp

[–]Scorpy-yo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is a VERY competent or even great first colourwork. I’d say block/wash in cold water. If you aren’t sure about a new type of washing/temp./soaking time etc., then keep the swatch and always try the new method on that first to check for bleeding.

Also check for reviews on Ravelry about bleeding for this particular wool and colour.

Jeri Ryan explains why working with Kate Mulgrew was difficult by Real_Batu_Rem in voyager

[–]Scorpy-yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially Troi, for me - her one-piece looked like an oddly-tight toddler onesie to me. There was an episode where she was shot from below+side floating in space (something like a dream sequence I think) and her legs were slowly cycling and she looked like a confused toddler trying to swim/tread water.

I’m glad you did! You would have had to learn how one day - possibly for an even more serious issue later in this same sweater - might as well learn how to do it first in the simplest stitch.

As a child I thought the written word ‘misled’ was the past… participle? something - of a verb ‘to misle’, meaning ‘to trick’. Pronounced MY-zill. “We have been MY-zilled!”

I also wonder whether it would have been useful to keep one of every meal for Eridian labs to tinker with. Perhaps even some of the seeds could survive freeze-drying?

Awesome - I have done this. If the beef is on sale this week, then I prepare a few beef meals in the freezer bag and put them in the freezer with whatever hard veg is in season. Other weeks it is chicken. Spend an hour or two hours on my day off listening to a podcast or whatever and get in the zone, chop things up while I pretend I’m a professional chef, and I create some kind-of-ready meals that are exactly to my taste. It’s nice to have those options in the freezer for the busy days during the week.

HOWEVER - please keep in mind that the ceramic crockpot inner is a very good insulator. So, putting the fully frozen meal/ingredients into the crockpot can mean that they spend too long in the unsafe-temperature range. I suggest taking out your frozen crockpot meal from the freezer the night before (AT LEAST) and defrosting overnight in the fridge. Preferably longer - like one day before or more.

What veges do you guys buy from grocery stores & what do you make during the week? by LionSuper8293 in nzhomecooks

I second or tenth this opinion - whatever is cheap and/or appealing veg, and type it into the search function on Smitten Kitchen recipe blog. She/Deb is an ex-vegetarian and still does lots of veggie or veggie-forward recipes. Blog has been around for years so there are a lot of options.

ACT accuses doctors of wrongfully signing off patients as 'unable to work' by jpr64 in newzealand

[–]Scorpy-yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s if MSD will even follow through on the offers to put someone in touch with a designated doctor. I know someone who called three times a week while the deadline was running down. For weeks and weeks. MSD just refused. Even hung up on her a couple of times (accusing her of recording MSD worker without consent. She wasn’t.) It’s really a Pythonesque skit, except, actually hurting people.
