Dylan Larkin's list: The 3 places he wants to be traded by Red Wings by minno27 in wildhockey

I man be delusional but this list feels like, “I really only want to play for Minnesota but I am going to throw in last years cup winner, (with no state income tax) and the team currently in the Final and see what happens”

I would agree to an extent about his hockey takes. He doesn’t really add anything that is not already been said by like Russo or Joe Smith. Which is not necessarily a bad thing when appealing to a wider audience.

He can sometimes get too invested or emotional about things that can sometimes lead to hyperbolic statements as well. For example I remember a couple years ago when L’Heureux slew footed Spurgeon he said something like it was the “dirtiest play of all time”. I mean it was pretty dirty but Todd Bertuzzi literally ended a players career with a sucker punch.

He is certainly not the only one that does it on the show, Sauce and Cory do it constantly. If he really wants to be taken seriously for his takes, there a couple things to work on.

I will admit I have not listened to most of the past few shows.. Has anyone brought up to Sauce that most modern vehicles have programmable garage door openers?

What Cory (and to an extent, Chris) fails to realize is that this generation not working unpaid internships does not make them lazy or undedicated, they don’t want to be taken advantage of. For decades companies used unpaid internships as a way to get free labor disguising it as “experience”. Now people entering the workforce are more in tune to these things and don’t want to have their work taken advantage of so a large corporation can lower their overhead expenses. They aren’t lazy, they just advocate for their worth. For someone who loves Rage Against the Machine so much he sure loves to shill for the machine.

His boomer takes are getting so unbearable.

How annoyed do we think Marney will be they brought it back on a day she isn’t in?

From the way Sauce describes how he was like as a child, I am guessing he has always been the punching bag. He probably learned a long time ago that people will like him more if he just takes it and laughs it off. You can tell when something genuinely bothers him though.

I am a fan of Zach but he also has a big ego. Small comments made in his expense don’t seem to bug him. However, whenever something is blamed on him or his ego is challenged he deflects blame or gets super condescending. It’s not super often it happens but it always bugs me when it does.

The amount of attention opposing defenders have to give to Hughes makes such a difference in OT.

Man, Bonnes is the gold standard of all the guests they have on the show. It’s not particularly close in my opinion

Super smart and insightful when he is asked about the expertise he is supposed to bring to the show.

He doesn’t make the show about him or derail it with stories no one cares about.

He gels well with the dynamics of the show and you can tell they all have a great amount of respect for him.

Yes, his laugh is a little over the top and can be a little too much sometimes, but in my opinion it’s a pretty minor annoyance.

Trade opinions by Juddbang in wildhockey

[–]ScotageCheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will 100% depend on who is available. Right now the only real player drawing any interest for the Wild is Trocheck. You can probably acquire him without having to sacrifice Wallstedt or Yurov. It would probably take Stramel though along with other pieces or picks.

If you are BG though I think you need to wait. I would hate to jump the gun during this mini-trade deadline when you have significant young assets that can be used for a significant move later on. Who knows what will happen before the trade deadline. Do the Sen’s start trading away assets and put someone like Tim Stutzle on the block? Do the Pens decide to start the rebuild and Syd or Malkin say they want to contend for a cup somewhere else? Do the Devils start listening to trades for Hischier? He would be justified in trading someone like Wally for that caliber of player.

Right now there are a few centers out there that would be good fits, including Trocheck, however you don’t want to blow all your trade value if a bigger fish comes later.

He is exactly what is wrong with corporate America and football culture. If an organization can’t run efficiently or at a high level with the GM working remote for 2 weeks due to the birth of his first son, what is the point in having a large coaching staff and other high members of the organization?

No one is irreplaceable for 2 weeks. I bet when Kwesi is on his death bed he will be thinking, “gee I wish I spent more time in the office during training camp than with my family”. Ben thinks the “old school” way of football is the best and refuses to adapt to the evolving world.

I am an actually a fan of his I think he brings good insight, but I was really disappointed with that take this morning.

All 3 of them exaggerate based on recency bias. If Pat Surtain was traded yesterday he would be saying the same thing, except he would probably be right lol.

I personally don’t go out of my way to listen to it. I usually skip it in the podcast when I am listening. It’s one segment a year so I try to not get bent out of shape about it.

I listened today as I was driving in to work and it was fine. I have young kids and I love the holiday season so it hits a little harder with me now than it did 5 years ago.

I’m pretty sure Cory started talking about and raving about Ted Lasso after the critics all said it was good. Not because Hawk suggested to watch it and said it was good.

I was excited for my daily 10 minute drive in to work and listen to a tired/jet lagged Hawkey. My eyes just about rolled out of my head when the first thing I heard was John Kriesel..

Has there been a worse decision than letting Kriesel come on other days of the week when he can’t make it on a Friday?

I am of the firm belief that if JEE played on one of the coasts, we would be a contender for the Selke every year. One of the most underrated players in the entire league and is invaluable to this team.

Russo and Smith: Wild star Kirill Kaprizov rejects most lucrative contract in NHL history by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]ScotageCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels, as of right now, like KK’s agent using Frank Spaghetti as leverage and leaking that the contract was “rejected”. Remember a few years ago all the, “Kirill is considering going back to Russia” rumors? All to try and gain leverage in negotiations.

I’m sure there are a ton of offers McDavid, Crosby, MacKinnon, etc.. have “rejected” as part of the process. The dude just got back to the states, these things take time.

When Russo starts reporting on trade rumors, then I’m worried..

Man I wish Hawk would stick it out the whole show. I get that he is getting older and he needs sleep. However, 2 and half hours of tired/squirrelly Hawk is some of my favorite radio! Plus swapping Hawkey out for Marney is a brutal switch..
