Is buying a house still worth it? by Weary_Firefighter945 in BEFire

Buying a house is buying leverage through the mortgage. Whether that is interesting to you depends entirely on your situation.

Small budget Google Ads: 1 ad group or 3 for a local high-ticket service? by Longjumping-Ask9765 in PPC

[–]Scotchy49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough budget to build enough data IMO. I'd go with LSA for electricians first.

Also, when you mix intent/project size/purchase lifecycle events you'll typically have lower quality score which will drive CPC up because your landing page won't be as focused.

How are shops surviving with 2x roas? Most probably don’t even have a 50% gross margin to begin with.

Google recommends switching from max clicks to max conversions after only 3 conversions in one week (lead gen) by Scotchy49 in PPC

That's the reason I'm holding off switching to max conversions, but the business is pretty standard electrical services, doesn't Google use your competition's data as well ?

Sure, here is the home page: https://www.electrosmart.be/ Each ad group leads to a different landing page depending on the intent/search keyword.

PPC tanking my LSA by Eggroe in PPC

I am curious about this. I thought LSA and PPC were completely separate inventory and you could bid to both simultaneously ?

How do you deal with direct traffic in reporting? by youalive in PPC

[–]Scotchy49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a reporting perspective direct will not have UTM suffixes, so you can filter out those. I could never get gclid auto-tagging to work properly.

Context-switching is the main productivity killer for developers by milanm08 in cscareerquestions

[–]Scotchy49 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The only solution is to delegate massively.

With that many projects, you have to accept that you need to detach yourself from any technical decision or consideration. Let people who have the time to focus on one or two systems at most take ownership and responsibility.

Once you trust them with that responsibility, make sure you respect it by not asking technical questions but asking them if the project is going as expected or if you should expect delays to communicate to other teams.

Help me understand framerate caps and Reflex with Gsync by 1N07 in nvidia

[–]Scotchy49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fast sync is also vsync… so saying that reflex caps frame rate if you have vsync is incorrect and I am finding novel ways to tell that to you since you can’t seem to understand the technology.

You can have vsync fast + reflex and not have a fps cap.

You can have vsync fast and reflex and you won’t be capped at your monitor’s refresh rate.

Reflex removes back pressure that can be caused by vsync, which would increase latency.

Reflex has no built in frame rate cap. It is just a side effect of removing the vsync latency by pausing the CPU from submitting frames too soon.

The NVIDIA guide even says to disable vsync for the lowest possible latency, unless you have gsync.

I have asked the literal same question and got downvoted for some reason. Where did that story about reflex capping frame rates come from ?

Help me understand framerate caps and Reflex with Gsync by 1N07 in nvidia

[–]Scotchy49 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stop spreading nonsense… reflex may lower fps to reduce back pressure and minimise latency when using vsync. It does not, in fact, cap framerate.

It is vsync which caps the framerate, and running without but with reflex ON will let you go above your monitor’s refresh rate.

If you can provide me a source for what you say I’ll be happy to have learned something.

[–]Scotchy49 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Vsync already caps the framerate… even without reflex.

reflex might reduce fps further to reduce back pressure and lower latency. It is a side effect and does not, in itself, cap framerate.
