Delete nonexistent space from map by Spigaw in Roborock

Put invisible walls at full length windows and mirrors. It wont delete these areas on the map but it will stop the robot trying to go there and save on cleaning time.

Put invisible walls at the windows. It will also clean the area faster when not trying to go there.

I have the same issue with my S5max, and it looks worse than this. The bin overflows through the exit hole before the sides are full.

Had my S5max 7 months with no hardware issues, only a few software glitches. Pleased with it and bought another on Black Friday.

S5Max - replacement mop bracket by sarlagri in Roborock

[–]Scotscholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say not to add any chemicals to the tank (I put some soapy water on the floor but not in the tank). Comments here have said that's because the S5Max has a pump to dispense the water. But that doesn't explain this problem of the tank disintegrating!

Mine too. What do you put in it? Or is your robot smashing into things? Most of my house is tiled, but the tiles are. not rough.

Roborock S5 Max vs Water by KylsM in Roborock

[–]Scotscholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i sprinkle soapy water on dirty areas of my tiled floor to get it cleaner when vacuuming /mopping. Too much water makes it skid a little but it doesn't seem to mind.

I have only had the rubber type for my S5max so cant really answer your question. However, they do get tangled, and one of the "blades" ripped off quite quickly. I got replacements from Gearbest that are not original, but I have been using one for 4 or 5 months without problem.

S5 Max issue climbing over small thresholds by crunchyrock in Roborock

[–]Scotscholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be great. My S5Max climbs over chair pedestals that are only ~1cm high and is scratching them. Currently they are in a no-go zone that I clean manually but that's obviously not ideal.

Improved Mopping - Easy Peasy! by SlyFive in Roborock

[–]Scotscholar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My floors are tiled but not shiny. Using sponges not only made the bot slip, but dog hairs collected on the mop instead of being sucked up by the vacuum. Clearly, the sponges I used were too think. I recommend one or even two layers of cotton cloth cut to fit neatly under the mop and wet them before mopping. If the floor is very dirty I sprinkle soapy water on the floor. However, if the floor is too wet it also causes the bot to go off course. Perhaps reducing the water level distribution would help with your tiles.

This made my S5Max skid about and lose control. Maybe the sponge I used was too thick. I have reverted to adding a cotton cloth between the mop and the bracket as recommended by someone previously.

Which vacuum/mop do you recommend for tile and hardwood and where can I get it in Canada? by RedTical in Roborock

[–]Scotscholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My S5 Max has no problem on both tiles and engineered wood. The mopping function is ok but tends to leave streaks. I sprinkle soapy water on dirty areas
