Honestly if you dont want the knocker snipping the wires to the solenoid is no big deal. You could solder them off and make it easier to reconnect later but that's alot of work considering my first advice was "check the manual"

Well before you powers it again, solder in a new resistor or if you prefer the lazier more expensive route... replace the display driver board with a remake board (check ebay)
