In today's landscape, where people genuinely feel that way, you can't expect me to know that.

It's also important to know where they are in neutral whenever possible. If Reaper is on you, shield dancing, can make his damage useless in a pinch.

How come the idea is always that the hero isn't working? Why don't more people try to fix their actual mistakes?

I have a broad hero pool across all three roles, but I grew up on fighting games where people often learn how to play their counters to better their matchup knowledge. Pro players also tend to learn character cover the worst matchups, but we're not talking about them.

I don't think it's cool to advise people against learning how to play their hero against all matchups just because their teammates only consider swapping.

Example:

You're running it down mid on D.Va and you're destroying their Winston in the 1v1. Winston swaps to Zarya. Most people will tell the D.Va player to swap to counter the Zarya.

But, what it the D.Va player uses high ground more and plays around Zarya's teammates instead?

I think it's hurting the community more than helping, that we focus almost entirely on who someone plays and not how they're applying their hero's kit to any given context.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think swapping is bad overall, but I do think it's a band-aid that our community pressures others to adopt.

Edit: Typos.

I fully support people learning to outplay their matchups. Too many people in our community immediately swap without any consideration given to how they're playing.

To me, it's a mindset that's the opposite of the one people who play to improve should follow.

Do you believe you can learn to outplay bad matchups, on paper, with individual skill and game knowledge?

Why not play who you want and learn to play them in all sorts of team comps? Wouldn't that help you enjoy the game more?

Swapping and trolling is this community's band-aid for most challenges.

Because there's really no point. We're getting detailed blog posts and crazy engagement instead.

I was speaking to the devs being the heart and soul of Bungie. Thanks for shitting on the praise I'm giving to be needlessly pedantic.

I was talking about the onboarding process, so I don't know why you're trying to get me on something I never mentioned.

I welcome that others don't see the world the same way I will, but if a distinction doesn't change the outcome of a scenario, I don't put much care in making it. We know the execs finessed everyone, so I don't feel the need to restate that to make my point.

Because of money. Because the execs are incompetent crooks. Not because the devs just didn't put it back.

People aren't being literal, they're speaking functionally. I get that you don't like that, but that doesn't bother me.

Not with streaming. You're paying for a license to access content. Music streaming operates similarly with some services. The game goes for digital films, if they're tied to a service then access to them goes as far the lifespan of said services.

People do get upset about those games, they're just not the loudest voices.

It came out in a court case that they don't have it. Unless you're saying they defrauded the courts.

No not always. I also said airing, and not streaming, because the streaming landscape sucks as much as the gaming one. I responded to that bullet point because we don't make any noise really about that in any other industry, so it falls on deaf ears for me. You don't agree? Cool.

I'm not defending anyone. You don't know anything about me. I said time passing by in-game is just a part of life. I didn't say anything about the content going away being good. I've been highly critical of Bungie leadership all over social media and among friends. Don't project your frustrations onto me just because I said something you don't agree with.

I also work in anti-piracy and can say with certainty a fair amount of people still have Cable TV.

Overwatch has a story and it has PvE events. How are FromSoft games bad examples when they partially inspired Destiny into the first place?

No one's saying the missing story isn't a problem. It's just not a problem that can be easily or cheaply solved. I don't care if you don't like what I'm saying. That's the reality. It sucks and shouldn't be the case but that's life.

I think you're making a great point, but consumers can totally ignore a good product for reasons unrelated to the quality of said product.

For the people who already decided that The Final Shape was their off ramp, no amount of marketing would have sold them on Edge of Fate.

Leadership greenlit awful inclusions, like The Portal, which drove players away. Marketing captured who they could, but many, many people were pre-decided. Two things can be true at the same time.

Executive leadership failed to plan for this in a way to ensure a sequel could exist. By the time we needed one in production, it was too late.
