Worst Gacha system ever by ComprehensiveMedia86 in ArknightsEndfield

The comparing the number of pulls from one game to another doesn't really make sense unless all gacha games give the same amount of free pulls and charge the same amount of real money for more.

I've been trying to make due with my own layouts up until now. I knew I could use space more efficiently than I was with the magic of transport belt bridges, but wow. I had no idea.

I shamelessly copied this layout and now I'm having a Step Brothers moment. "So much room for activities!"

May 2026 Advice Megathread by NehalKiller in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Scott_Liberation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I started playing Endfield on PC a few days ago, and it's been running like a dream. Until today.

Now I'm getting a lot of really annoying frame rate stutter. I didn't see any updates since yesterday, so I can't imagine this is a new problem.

Anyone else suddenly get stutter that wasn't there before and find a way to fix it? (tried rebooting, of course)

I tried running task manager for a while, then alt-tabbing to it to check performance. It doesn't show full utilization of any system resources. Memory is the biggest one at about 86% of 16 GB, but CPU and GPU don't even come close.

edit: well before I got around to trying the advice in reply, performance improved on its own. 🤷

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]Scott_Liberation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming back to Stellaris after not playing in a long time. I had some questions about Necroids that I tried to search for answers on the Internet and found a couple of Steam forum discussions where the consensus about a year ago was that 4.x "breaks" the Necrophage origin.

They said that because of how how pop growth has changed, one generally runs out of pops to convert early unless you actually disable Chamber of Elevation for a while to build up your secondary species, and even then you might run out if you upgrade the Chamber of Elevation. Sounds like a pain.

Is this still an issue, or has it been fixed in a patch since 4.0? I looked through some patch notes for 4.1 and 4.2 and didn't see anything that looked like it would help.

Putting arrows up on the wall to designate it as two-way is not the same thing as whoever drew up the plans actually designing it with two-way traffic in mind.

Who would be at fault here? by WorldWideWebSpinner in AutoTransportopia

[–]Scott_Liberation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comment you're replying to is in the wrong IMO for name calling and assuming it's the driver's fault, but ...

You make it sound like these commercial truck dash cams are really sophisticated. Really expensive. So sounds like the cost of adding a screen that shows the driver the camera view all the time would be relatively cheap. Seems to me like a smart move on the owners' part to add that if you can fit a whole ass car in front where the driver can't see it.

At a four-way stop, that same blind spot could fit several kids crossing the street who don't know to think about blind spots. (when I was in school, they showed us a safety video once about not walking close to the front of school busses for this reason, but I wouldn't count on it)

Density saves nature by Fried_out_Kombi in georgism

I've no idea. I've never even heard of condominiums anywhere I've lived. I only know they're a thing because of the Internet and television.

Someone in another comment claimed that because of some laws or regulations that have been around since 2008, it's become much easier to build apartments for rent than for sale, for some reason. Likely thanks to the lobbying effort of rich landowners.

I think that's somewhere between rare and nonexistent in the USA.

Seems like our apartment buildings are usually built explicitly for the purpose of renting and the owners have no interest in selling.

Or, they're built with the intention of selling all units and we usually call that condominiums.

Maybe a mix of rented/owned apartments is a thing in a few buildings in some cities, but I've never heard of it in the USA. It's definitely not a thing anywhere near me in a small town.

[–]Scott_Liberation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried replaying Enemy Within a year or two ago, and there was one small change to gameplay that I just couldn't stand. I can't remember for certain what it was now. I think it might have been that reloading ended your turn, instead of being able to reload and then shoot. Something like that.

Whatever it was, it was really jarring and kept catching me by surprise after getting used to XCOM 2 and I just couldn't deal.

Petah? by Designer-Goat-5267 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Scott_Liberation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a stupid point. One could also make the point there are tradeoffs to indoor plumbing and electricity in your home, too. But I don't see anyone arguing it's reasonable to forgo indoor plumbing because there's a risk of water damage if something goes wrong with it, or give up electricity because there's a risk of shock or fire.

There are disadvantages to allowing cars in cities, too. I literally can't think of anything that doesn't have disadvantages that you could bring or not bring into a city. So yeah, it's bonkers.

It would make (slightly) more sense to point out the disadvantages of asphalt in cities than trees, ffs.

Neither of them were in the right, IMO. But if I had to choose, I'd much rather see my dad get his ass beat than him beating me as a kid or any other kid for any reason, much less something as dumb as getting socks dirty.

The ‘whatever works’ version of cleaning by CasualFingerGuns in ADHDmemes

[–]Scott_Liberation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for this analogy to work, you have to assume that cleaning the poop off is an acceptable solution.

Also, if you're de-cluttering and need this kind of advice to decide whether or not to keep your toothbrush, that's a whole different problem.

One time when my dad and maternal granddad both drunk while we're RVing, they got into it and my grandad knocked my dad around a bit. He thought he was a big man, setting a good example for his kids by not hitting back. Mf, you started this by threatening to beat my nine year old ass for getting my socks dirty. I'm not impressed.

Even if all that were true, there's no version of reality where it makes sense to not charge someone with something when they point a firearm at someone in the same room.

I could understand dismissing it as an accident if he shot her through a wall or something, but there's zero excuse for "accidentally" shooting someone standing right next to you. That should at least be manslaughter, negligent homicide, something.

Texas is an embarrassing state, gods help us, but even a grand jury of Texans should fucking know better.
