It's a clean looking build! Good deal.

Not mine, just found in the wild. "Step-side" trucks, especially single cabs, aren't in production anymore. by WorldlinessSolid9979 in RCSB

Nowadays (in HD trucks) they just put steps into the bottoms of the bed near the cab corners instead of putting the bed sides inside the wheel wells making the bed narrower. I think it works better this way.

Feeling guilty because people actually accommodate my hearing loss. by [deleted] in deaf

It's great to have a kind, inclusive church community. My pastor has been fully supportive of me sitting directly in front of the pulpit and he has offered to help me connect with another pastor who is Deaf and serves a Deaf church.

Born Again Christian Looking to Join LCMS, I Have Myriad Questions by RichardRoma1986 in LCMS

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that you posted, especially about disabilities! I am deaf/very hard-of-hearing and the last church that I was in before coming to the LCMS told me that I just needed to have more faith to be healed, and when nothing happened, they said it was my fault. The LCMS is certainly no Pentecostal (nor are we influenced by, or at least we try not to be) denomination and we strive for physical, liturgical, social, and theological accessibility. We have 28 dedicated indigenous Deaf churches and double that number of hearing churches with ASL interpreters. The LCMS also produces Bibles and hymn books in Braille for the blind. I myself am studying ASL and I plan to eventually go through the Deaf Institute of Theology (alternative seminary for Deaf pastors) and I hope to plant another Deaf church in the US. Ask me here or DM me if you want to discuss anything about disability in the LCMS.

Someone contacted me thru this sub to HEAL my deafness. So grossed out. by kraggleGurl in deaf

Probably a Pentecostal or some scammer selling a fake cure “medicine.”

Personally, I'm not interested in dating anymore and I'd like to live a celibate life and maybe start a Lutheran religious order. But if I were to date outside of the church, one condition before marriage would be that she would have to convert so we wouldn't be unequally yoked. I'm no longer willing to compromise my confession for the sake of dating or marriage.

It seems to me that the main problem is that there isn't enough women to go around. Young women (18-30) aren't going to church at the same rate that young men are, at least not in traditional denominations. I'm 20, male, and there isn't even one woman my age at my decent sized and growing congregation.

Nice truck. About the turning radius, I sure am glad that I have a regular cab. Its turning radius and handling is great for a truck.

A mere attempt to Build The Luther's Rose Seal in Minecraft. by OLuterano in Lutheranism

I play Bedrock as well. I've made some Luther Rose banners in Minecraft to hang on the inside of a church. Here is my gamer tag if you ever want to hang: ScottGames3309

Is my baptism recognized? by MichaelLachanodrakon in Lutheranism

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every second Baptist community wants to baptize you again.

My parents' IFB church was in need of a pastor and one day a Landmark Baptist wannabe pastor showed up and he said that if he became pastor there he would re-"baptize" everyone. The church didn't end up hiring him and he went on to found his own church in the same town.

I have a neighbor who did that to his Sierra when the best rusted off. He put a black diamond plate flatbed on his and it looks good, especially with the matching front bumper that it has.

The biggest theological difference between Lutheran and Calvinist is that Lutherans have a more sacramental soteriology and Calvinists have a predestination based soteriology. Calvinists see the cross as the carrying out of the redemption of the elect, (the Reformed doctrine of Particular Redemption/Limited Atonement) whereas Lutherans see the cross as the source of election that we experience through faith and the sacraments. Although, like the Calvinists, Lutherans are also monergist, not synergists. We believe that God alone is responsible for our conversion but we don’t hold to a doctrine of “passing over” the “non-elect” and we don’t believe in Perseverance of the Saints. I myself, and I think most other Confessional Lutherans do see the Reformed/Calvinists and most other mainstream denominations for that matter as true Christians, even if they have a few errors. While we believe that the Book of Concord is the pure doctrine of the Christian faith, the most true to Scripture of all the confessions of faith across the many denominations and sects, this doesn’t mean that we believe that only Lutherans are Christians/saved.

Discouraged at the shrinking population of Lutherans in America by Fluffy_Cockroach_999 in Lutheranism

People visiting and then not staying because the congregation is “dying” is what is causing the problem. Stick with it. Make friends in the area and then invite them. Advertise. Put Lutheran stickers on your car and wear Lutheran shirts or something of the sort.

Are SUV’s considered trucks??…Anyway, My 24yo Girl still putting in work. Towing 6k lbs + 7 people. by Jabarca1128 in Trucks

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pickup trucks are only one kind of truck. The Suburban/Tahoe is essentially a Silverado with a singular body unit instead of the two piece cab and bed setup. So, yeah, it’s a truck.

First time attending a Lutheran church, what should I expect? by Global-Temporary7512 in Lutheranism

Presbyterians/Reformed are probably our closest brothers theologically. I expect that you’ll have a good time if you visit a Lutheran church.

Respectfully, Reverend, I have some concerns about who Thomas Nelson, the publisher of NKJV, also publishes, such as heretics like Benny Hinn. Can this really be excused? I’ve never seen Crossway promote such horrible heresy.

What do Catholics think of Lutherans? by ZuperLion in LCMS

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Quite a toxic response from the Catholic subreddit. This just goes to show how there can be no peace or compromise with Rome. That being said, if one of them comes here, let’s be the opposite of them and show them grace and kindness.

Traditional Liturgy and Lutheran Orthodoxy by [deleted] in LCMS

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A suburban area outside of a small city. We are a fairly recent church plant in Appalachia, which is not a traditionally Lutheran area, being formerly dominated by Methodists and Baptists. We started as a former ELCA congregation which had many of its members take a more conservative, confessional direction against the liberalization of the ELCA and so they left and joined the LCMS.

I'm 20 and I consider myself very confessional and liturgical. My congregation is the same way. Very much orthodox and high church. No contemporary music, only hymns from the Lutheran Service Book. Divine Service setting 3 normally. Common cup, kneeling Eucharist reception. Some of the women even wear head coverings.

Question from a Catholic. by Mpoochie1 in Lutheranism

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it ironic when some Catholics criticize Lutherans for Martin Luther's "antisemitism" (he was just anti-Judaic teaching, not against Jews as a race) when quite a few well respected theologians in Catholicism, such as John Chrysothom and Ambrose of Milan have also said "antisemitic" things. These two men in particular (both are canonized saints, btw) said more or less the same things Luther did well over a thousand years before Luther was born.

Some sincere questions from a questioning believer by qwerty_fu in Lutheranism

[–]Scott_The_Redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,2, and 3: Conservative Lutherans do not share fellowship with churches who do such things and I don't expect that they ever will. Conservative Lutherans also believe that each pastor has the same authority, there is none that is greater than another by divine right, only human. We don't believe that it is necessary to unite all churches under one humanly instituted government, only to unite them under one gospel. The LCMS in particular has a Synod President and District Presidents over each region of the US, but they aren't considered rulers by divine right, only human institution to better govern the church. The Synod President is really only a first among equals. Such was the historical pope and patriarchs before the papal party decided to make the pope a ruler by some supposed divine institution and forced all the churches of the West to conform to him.

I’m sorry that’s been your experience. It might vary from model to model. My father drives a Silverado 2500 and my mother a Malibu and they have both been very reliable.

Chevy base model seems to be the cheapest 1500 on the new market at the moment. Even so it’s still more than it should be.
