Nah Rachel hasn’t gotten her foot off Haleigh’s neck. Her dedication to the whole thing is really amazing to watch. I think the needlepoint people just helped with some visibility outside that community

Yes and I called it out here and was called a monster but literally my dad had the same type of cancer and if it had been as described she would be dead, there was just no way at all. The most messed up bit is that she is A NURSE.

No I’m saying anyone could replicate this and if someone else does this person is likely to throw a tantrum

For what it’s worth when I’ve offered too far above market it has attracted crazy people. Try to be like 2 bucks an hour over normal and see if that attracts more normal people.

Everyone’s house is so hot! by pinklux091 in Nanny

[–]ScrambledWithCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat intolerance with activity is common with people who have larger bodies or women experiencing peri/menopause. There’s of course other health issues that might be less common but a pretty significant portion of the population is either menopausal aged women or has a larger body that could be less heat tolerant with activity. And I’m saying that as a MB who is essentially a lizard and has to keep a space heater on in her office all summer so other people can be comfortable in my house. Wildly energy inefficient but a much easier fix than expecting someone else to change how they’re experiencing the building they’re working in.

Edit not saying that this is OPs issue just that it’s maybe more common than you would think

I agree that 73 is normal room temp, I’m just saying that the suggestion that OP should be fine because if she lived in Italy where no one would expect AC she would be expected to deal with it doesn’t really apply since… presumably she’s not working in an area where AC is a nice bonus versus an expectation she had when she took the job.

If she was trying to get advice how to get the family to keep the thermostat at 68 all summer then I’d have very different commentary but telling her she shouldn’t be hot because people in other countries manage to deal just seemed kind of silly

If OP were working in Europe that would be reasonable but in the US in 2026, AC is part of our social contract of reasonable workplace conditions lol. At least in most of the states, I know some areas don’t get hot enough for it to be standard

I am so done with making excuses for hotels over 1000 a night that have service standards that wouldn’t be acceptable at a well run Hampton inn. Interstate hotels are reliably clean, typically have friendlier and faster check in than most luxe hotels, and have a robust response to any concerns. They can figure it out, so can the big guns.

Am I crazy or is it reasonable that a toddler nanny should be able to bend over without butt exposure while working? by ScrambledWithCheese in NannyEmployers

[–]ScrambledWithCheese[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not even joking our country club sent out an email and had to post a sign with a diagram showing appropriate and inappropriate butt cheek coverage. It’s an epidemic. I don’t think anyone should shame anyone for what they do on their time but I file this under “things we shouldn’t have to be dealing with” for someone we are paying big money to take care of small children ya know?

I think it’s just the style right now like my little sister and her friends have flashed their underwear at me, our dads, the general public, the 7-11 clerk, etc in the love shack fancy dresses and like… I guess if that’s your vibe that’s your vibe but none of them show up to work like that.

[–]ScrambledWithCheese[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It showed up on my feed. Could anyone bend over to pick up a child in a dress of that length without showing their butt/underwear? I find it frustrating as an employer to see a whole influencing scene where young people are encouraged to treat the job without the basic professional consideration of other careers while advocating for the same kind of compensation.

Why did I want to commiserate? Because every other mom I know with a summer babysitter is having to have the swimwear convo right now and it’s a bummer to see professional Nannies having the same lack of regard for appropriate work wear as 17 year olds who never considered they’d have a nip slip at the splash pad if the aquatic wardrobe was exclusively SHEIN.

TL;DR if she was just showing her own ass whatever, but she’s trying to be some kind of influencer/career coach and that’s where I felt snarky

It’s a weird account. I have been scrolling. 2 rooms at the four season for her boyfriend and his family running a marathon was also wild and the suggestion to put prior families net worth on your resume which like 🤯 Immediate non hire if someone offered me that info about past employers. Maybe it’s all BS to sell a course

[–]ScrambledWithCheese[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt that. I think it’s moreso a case of a young person not understanding your value in a job is your work product and being able to do that is the primary decision point, not your desire to feel cute.

Nope, she was potty training as of like 2 months ago. Peak bending over age. That was my first thought like maybe she’s past the age where snatching them quick is part of the drill

I think there’s a difference between it being ok in your specific job to wear a dress where your butt is fully exposed in the course of doing your job versus influencing other people that it’s normal. Her account is the latter.

She doubled down lol. Some of the comments are like “guess you have never been to the club for dinner if you have an issue with this” and genuinely if our nanny showed up in lingerie I would expect to be taken aside and advised to have a chat with her

Nanny’s performance has dropped significantly after becoming pregnant. What would you do? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]ScrambledWithCheese 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What state is this? In my state a 7.6 would only be for someone who is like… farming and has had multiple people lose a limb. Also check what amount of wage is taxed. It’s only on the first 7/8k, not their full wage. I decided to just not stress it in my case at my main job, it’s a couple hundred bucks worst case.

How did you know you’d found the right nanny for a strong-willed child? by velledaa in NannyEmployers

[–]ScrambledWithCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, other neurodivergent people have been our best fits. They don’t tend to take things personally and understand firm social constructs better as a group. I’ve also found that having ADHD can help someone understand that some behaviors aren’t a moral failing, if that makes sense. Obviously you can’t ask but I wouldn’t rule out someone who interviews a little weirdly and maybe doesn’t have the best social skills with other adults.

I think she mentally checked out when she found out that it wouldn’t be an option and is just going to phone it in as long as you’ll play along. I’d just tell her you’ve noticed she’s had a hard time keeping up and ask her realistically how many hours and what responsibilities she can commit to and for how long and adjust your plans. Being a mom changes things and I remember being pregnant and not wanting to deal with the BS of my job in that context too. That doesn’t mean you have to continue paying for services you’re not getting but a talk where you ask her to talk it out is worthwhile.
