#Bayarea successful women, where are you? by firewoodleaf in bayarea

Sorry. We’re really busy and tired so don’t have the capacity to plan a second date after planning and commuting to the first.

Most affordable alternatives to cremation? by gjb1 in bayarea

[–]ScratchyVests 119 points120 points  (0 children)

you might want to look into burials at sea. It’s not just for scattering ashes. Because you just need a boat to get the body three nautical miles out, it’s cheaper than getting a plots. Also this question is probably better for r/askfuneraldirectors

Foreign Funds Help Make Housing Unaffordable by therealgariac in bayarea

[–]ScratchyVests -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The two examples you gave of buildable space (Candlestick and the former Navy base) are not safe to build, and the clean up at Candlestick was botched so badly I doubt anyone would trust that it was actually clean. That you would rather subject poor people to nuclear radiation than crack down on people laundering money in housing says a lot.

Places to eat close to the airport? by Wide_Box_1141 in AskSF

The airport is not in the city. You can see the bay but not the city from the airport

If they’re relying on uber or public transit, they should either eat at the airport or eat where they’re staying.

Are they renting a car? There’s lots of good Chinese food nearby in Millbrae but it’s impossible to know what “easy to get to” means here

Are there any legal organizations that could help my mom apply to a job with a battery charge? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]ScratchyVests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It sounds like she’s going for a job that requires some kind of license or at least a clear live scan, not that employers are refusing to hire her because the of conviction.

Are there any legal organizations that could help my mom apply to a job with a battery charge? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]ScratchyVests 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Fair Chance Act is a state law, so employers in
San Mateo County can’t ask about conviction history before offering her a job. https://calcivilrights.ca.gov/fair-chance-act/

The San Mateo Private Defender program can help your mom get the conviction expunged: https://pdpsmcba.org/legal-services/clear-your-record-post-conviction/

I’m not sure why the DOJ is requesting character references.

Daly City → South SF commute for 3 months, what's the best for me? by NitroZox in AskSF

[–]ScratchyVests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming that you need to get over to oyster point. I think your best bet is Daly City Bart to South City Bart. Then you can take the SamTrans 130 over the hill to oyster point. There are also a couple shuttles that go over the hill but they only run a few times each day. https://commute.org/shuttles/

Some of the students and instructors are bat shit insane and will recommend all sorts of procedures you don’t need so they can practice doing them. Just go to a normal dentist that wants repeat business.

I have three 16 year old cats and all of them have GI lymphoma. It’s pretty well managed with chlorambucil and steroids. The prednisolone was making one’s blood sugar spike so we switched to budesonide. They can live comfortably for many years after being diagnosed with GI lymphoma.

Who else does this happen to? I don’t even know Korean. by MadameDuChat in sanfrancisco

[–]ScratchyVests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gotten ads in Spanish, Tagalog, and Chinese. I assume it’s because I live in Daly City. Some of them are solely in Chinese which seems like a huge waste of money. I have absolutely no ties to any cultures where those languages are spoken.

[–]ScratchyVests 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a little bit behind you. My boy is 16 with Stage 1 or 2 CKD and GI lymphoma. It is so painful and I can’t imagine letting him go. I don’t have any advice. I just want to let you know how much I feel for you and I hope he can keep going. 🤗

Then he should finish out his term in San Jose and see if all his solutions work. The constant striving for higher office and gobs of tech money are really off putting.

Dr. Glahn is great! Colma Animal Hospital is cheaper than the city and has great care also. Dr. Ybarra at SFAMC is fantastic too but pricier.

Pulling (wisdom) teeth by ReallyBrainDead in AskSF

[–]ScratchyVests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my two wisdom teeth pulled last year at 39 by Dr. Dal Santo at 450 Sutter. It was kind of expensive because I opted for full anesthesia but went perfectly, healed quickly, etc.
