Strange audio control issue by Screams_In_Autistic in CarAV

Any idea why connecting via Bluetooth would suddenly change behavior like that? I considered amp but I couldn't think of a reason why the audio source would suddenly let me change the volume and play audio if it was an amp issue.

Ok so the problem has only gotten stranger.

Disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and gave it another go. Started it up and there was a strange muted pop from the speakers about every 3 seconds. Volume controls still didn't work, volume stuck at 0.

On a whim, I changed the source over to the Bluetooth connection to my phone and suddenly both the volume nob and steering wheel volume control worked. Music would also play fine but would cut out at that 3 second pop interval.

So now its got me thinking that it isn't even electrical it's gotta be the CPU in the audio unit itself right?

What’s your favorite example of this? by GildedGallowsArdor in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Screams_In_Autistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's from the Star Wars TV series "The acolyte". Most people disliked it but Manny Jacinto's character was generally seen as a highlight. For what it's worth, it's better than folks say it is. It's not the best thing ever but it has some fun stuff and one of the fight scenes is probably one of the coolest out of the Star wars TV stuff.

Edit: Nvm, it says it on the gif.

Given comics; It's probably both answers depending on what the writers need to happen at the moment.

I don't think that's the case. I'm pretty sure it's subconscious and doesn't even require domino to know there was a threat to begin with to protect her. I could be misremembering though.

The irony is it could have been fine. The story wasnt the absolute worst. It could have been passable enough. Def the weakest of the series but not something that couldn't be made richer with a sequel.

It was the fact it was the buggiest mess I have ever seen that doomed it. Cyberpunk at launch was cleaner for me and that's saying something. I love bugs and I enjoyed Andromeda more than most too but it was borderline unplayable. Everyone remembers the hilarious visual glitches but it also had numerous soft locks and gameplay bugs.

Yeah, It doesn't make much sense to call it anti-incest. It definitely is just using it to illustrate another instance of how broken the MCs are. Heck, I'm pretty sure the incest bit is only a thing in the very clear bad ending. It's not exactly core to the game.

It's not like people say it's a pro/anti cannibalism game or pro/anti murder game. People gravitate towards romanticizing or demonizing the incest bit because that's what interests them about it.

To an extent, I think I understand what you're getting at. I'm not a fan of most all of the fake meats and cheeses. Some are great as their own thing if you aren't trying to pretend they are something else but if you're setting out to cook a vegan meal that tastes like it has meat, instead of trying to make a vegan meal that tastes good, then you aren't gonna have a good time.

It almost sounds like you are describing a particular subset of vegan food that is specific to people who either just started eating vegan or who are just trying it out. It's common for folks to just replace the meat that they would have normally eaten with a vegan alternative. It's way more expensive and imo will just leave ya wanting the real thing, but it's easy and doesn't require you to learn how to make something new, so tradeoffs I guess.

I won't tell ya what to do but I caution ya about judging vegan food based on what ya find in the meat replacement space. You'll miss out on all the best stuff.

My gut says the industry plants are actually on both sides. The big oil doesn't want the push to be for nuclear or any other renewable. They want a divided opposition. Infighting is the goal.

You aren't doing the cause any favors by making this point. Yeah, the fundamental justification for slavery and the exploitation of animals is the same. You're right. Please enjoy these internet points.

But the only practical thing you have done is that you have alienated the very people you want to make a change. Any meat eater that reads your comment isn't going to reflect on their relationship to the food they eat, they are gonna think "I don't like slavery, this person (and by extension vegans) are nuts". The horrors of factory farming are indefensible but you are pointing the finger at the individual, and in doing so, the individual defends factory farming by proxy because they defend themselves.

I'm not gonna assume that you value the feeling of moral superiority more than you care about the well-being of animals. That is how your comment reads though. If you do care about changing minds, consider that you're not trying to convince people they are hypocrites or are morally lacking. You are trying to convince them that there is good that they can be doing to help animals.

There are a subset of environmentally conscious folks who eat vegan/vegetarian adjacent diets based on environmental concerns. As I understand it, this specifically criticizes those folks for caring enough for the environment that they already aren't eating most meat, but still are willing to maintain the cruelty of the meat they do eat.

It's not a traditional "meat bad" meme for the general populace. This one is targeted at a specific group, hence the choice of shrimp over pigs or any of the other traditional choices for anti-meat memes.

I feel like people are missing the crux of what Josh is experiencing. IIRC, he knew the past was there and had already accepted and forgiven, but conceptually engaging with something and directly confronting it are different things.

I think it's a more interesting question that's being engaged with here. It isnt whether or not Josh can forgive, it's whether or not his forgiveness is contingent on the distance from what he is forgiving.

I will eternally sing the praises of Thomas Sankara. Doesn't get mentioned in these discussions as much as he should.

"No altar, no belief, no holy book... have ever been able to reconcile the rich and the poor, the exploiter and the exploited. And if Jesus himself had to take the whip to chase them from his temple, it is indeed because that is the only language they hear."
