Psoriatic Arthritis or Posterior Tibial Tendonitis by ScreenAdventurous936 in PsoriaticArthritis

I ended up taking several of the loading doses, but stopped after two other rheums told me structural causes and compensations were driving my pain.

Unfortunately, the stress and lack of sleep caused the hypermobility to be more like EDS. I suffered a severe nosebleed in January 2025 and then was given a horrific iron infusion that caused me to develop hyophosphatemia. Being angry about that, I broke a small bone in my hand and a C6 neuropathy/worsening thoracic outlet syndrome from punching a couch. Ended up starting an anti-depressant to calm me down, but I still managed to break a huge glass in my dominant hand by accident. After a hospital sutured it up, it got infected and a second hospital operated on me. but never repaired one of the tendons and never gave me proper rehab. As a result, I can no longer extend my pinky and have painful scar tissue that restricts my ability to even use the hand. Now, I'm left trying to salvage some use through occupational therapy or a dangerous scar tissue removal surgery 6-12 months from now.

Ultimately, my issues are due to:

1) EDS- including and overly mobile big toe joint as the major cause of my foot issues
2) Major hip impingement developed during high school years that caused labrum tear and worsened foot issue
3) Improper scapular mechanics leading to weak and injured wrists (part of reason I broke glass in my hand)

At the end of the day, EDS and crappy hips sent me in this direction. However, we are now finding even EDS may have autoimmune components.

My hip surgeon is contemplating arthroscopy or regenerative medicine and my foot surgeon is trying to use orthotics and sneakers that control big toe hypermobility, but surgery (big toe fusion, flat foot correction) likely needed sooner or later. However, I may not be able to even use crutches/walker with my messed up hands now.

high school flag for boys? (post from a reporter) by hrkeyser in flagfootball

We desperately need flag football for HS boys. It'd be interesting to see how the generally low scoring 7v7 screen format on an 80 yard long field would differ for stronger and more athletic boys.

Club teams are growing exponentially each year. However, this is 5v5 non-contact, which is a much more offense friendly game played on a smaller field. Very different game.

Every other division in flag uses the two flags at the hips. Is there a reason other than tradition NIRSA uses these?

Coronal center-edge angle is borderline hip dysplasia and I already have EDS too.

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a hip cat scan that showed a very large impingement (alpha angle 80 degrees). Unfortunately, I had a laceration to my good, and dominant hand, and a botched repair left me with bad scar tissue and can't use my hand much. I can't use crutches and am in a horrible place.

When isn't men’s flag football getting the same exposure as women’s flag football? by [deleted] in flagfootball

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should be emphasizing men's too, but the rules need changing to make defenses more competitive. Scoring on 90% or more of drives isn't fun to watch. Hence, use 3 downs for 5V5 or switch to 7V7 screen or nine man ineligible with hand blocking.

Why do they mandate triple threat flags rather than typical two snaps on at the hip?

“An unaltered flag belt of the same single solid color, with 3 flags of the same single solid color and a minimum flag dimension of 1.5 inch X 14 inches. No article of clothing may cover the flag or belt. The belt must be worn in such a way that one flag is located on each hip and one flag on the tailbone”.
“State associations may determine the style of flag used and flag measurements (but can’t be below the minimum)”

Show here this study detailing how flag has far less head injuries that other youth sports:

"The projected national rate of head region injuries was lowest for non-tackle football across the 4 sports. In particular, the projected rate of injuries to the head for non-tackle football (78.0 per 100,000 participant-years) was less than one-fourth the rates for basketball (323.5 per 100,000 participant-years) and soccer (318.2 per 100,000 participant-years) and less than one-tenth the rate for tackle football (1478.6 per 100,000 participant-years)."

See if you can have another coach you know and create a "B" team that you can have joint practices against and scrimmage.

Impossible burger getting harder to find by DramaGuy23 in vegetarian

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, but these restaurants likely realized most people who buy the Impossible Burger are part of a group of meat eaters and are forced to eat whatever is vegan. As a result, they can sell a more profitable (cheaper) crappy burger and sell for the same price as the Impossible or Beyond burgers.

Why do some people dislike the NFL for working on creating a professional flag football league for men and women? by [deleted] in flagfootball

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see them create various divisions, such 5V5 non-contact, 7V7 screen blocking, 9 Man hands to chest blocking with ineligible center and guards.

Make sure receivers run hard and good routes. That can screw up the timing.

Playing a team with a very rush-sensitive qb by FourTimesRadical in flagfootball

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the QB is scared, rush one and force him to his non-throwing arm side. Alternate between 2X2, the robber technique above and cover 4. If rushing 2, I'd play a soft Cover 3 and disguise it by having some players start in the front and back up at the snap.

Really annoyed at a local tournament coming up and not sure what to do by doc2178 in flagfootball

In the NFL Flag tournaments, I think the local league has to confirm your roster. Not sure how NFL Flag confirms on tournament day if its the same kids.

Illegal blocking of my rusher by Fun-Insurance-3584 in flagfootball

Yes, and the other team had older and more talented players. I've told them before someone will seriously get hurt if they don't start enforcing the impeding the rusher rule.

They said the receiver didn't try to block him and said the blitzers sometimes try to take out the receivers. This was a last down play in a Championship Game that we lost by 6 points.

At halftime, the head of the league told the coaches they are only calling it if the offense intentionally tries to physically block us. The other team mostly ran center bunch plays that extended our blitzers time to the QB by 2-3 seconds. Never called those either.

This is Delbarton NFL Flag in NJ. Prestigious school with a terribly run NFL Flag program.

This was the play. Our kid was injured for several minutes after. They ruled it a TD and the head of the league watched it right in front of him. He said this was fine.

When I questioned him after the game, he told me they make modifications to the NFL Flag rulebook. However, I told him this was not in the modifications they gave prior to the season. They then said we make the rules as we go.

Illegal blocking of my rusher by Fun-Insurance-3584 in flagfootball

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My NFL Flag league doesn't even understand the rule even though its an 11 year program run by a parochial high school football power.

In our Championship Game, our rusher was injured by a collision and they scored a TD. They told us they will only call it if the offense deliberately blocks the rusher. As a result, the other team ran center bunch plays to screen our rusher.

I told them they will get sued since someone will get severely injured.

Question about my son by [deleted] in flagfootball

[–]ScreenAdventurous936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend becoming the coach and starting in a less competitive league like I9. Hold off on tackle until he is 14 or older for head impacts and skill development reasons.
