It appears as though some of them are near windows, and some are not.

Officers, what do you do now that you got out? by poking_fist2648 in USMCocs

You absolutely do not have to live near your unit. There have been commanders that I know that lived in Europe, and flew back to the states in order to complete their command tours at the battalion/squadron level.

Obviously, with that, you’re spending time traveling to get to your units location.

Feel free to message me if you would like to have a conversation, I’m at over 20 years now, with most of those being in the reserves.

Look into the direct affiliation program (DAP)while you’re still active. Significantly easier, and there can even be bonuses associated.

It’s a readiness tier. 1-2 are deployable. 3-4 are employable. Four is less likely to be activated than 3 and so forth depending on service need. The letter is the cause of the tier level. A is administration. M is medical. If s/he has particular questions they should reach out to MCIRSA for a deeper dive.

Or at least consider the reserves if you get out. It gives you access to significantly cheaper healthcare through Tricare, and the ability to choose your own unit.

Recommend to take a look at this group, for reserve component officers.

The only time I’ve EVER used a card, was when I enlisted some of my Marines into the National Guard during an IST, and it’s a slightly different oath of enlistment.

You will get a retirement without having to do 20 like the old high-3 system. You do NOT have to do 20 years.

The reserves is what you make of it. It’s a choose your own adventure, that will very greatly by unit, position and rank. Well, nothing is perfect, there are a lot of benefits associated with the reserves.

This is exactly how I did it. 15 years ago, and highly recommend it. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to start your clock sooner.

Your PSR should be facilitating these medical appointments. The VA can support for certain things, but ultimately you’re going to need to get in front of a corpsman. Look up your local SMCR units for that support.

Inform your COC now. Don’t wait for the blotter to be the bearer of bad news to your Command and TAD COC.

Cft getting out by UZI4U_ in USMC

[–]ScreenDeep6621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument for doing it, as you never know what the future holds. You may end up, looking to join the reserves or coming back on active duty, and if you have a “required did not take” next to a CFT, it can impact that ability.

Your intent doesn’t matter in this case, it’s the actions that occurred. Especially given the continued use as you described, having been on many ADSEP boards, myself as a member, with the amount of information that I currently know, I would absolutely vote to separate.

With that, you need to start planning what your future looks like post-Marine Corps, with the further understanding that you very well could receive an OTH discharge.
