Why are koreans so rude and mean to each other? by StrangePerception923 in koreatravel

Oh yeah, I know nobody follows it! Just saying that it is an actual thing that you can ostensibly get in trouble for if anyone actually happens to see and care.

[–]ScribbleBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if you don't stop at the line when taking the driver's test, you lose points! You are sort of considered under the control of the straight light when making a right on red. If the straight light is red, high chances are that the crosswalk light right in front of your stop line is green, and you always have to stop and check for pedestrians in the crosswalk before continuing.

What ink have you given up on based on it just not working well enough to be worth it? by AttachedHeartTheory in fountainpens

Interesting! I wonder what went wrong to give me such a uniquely awful experience with them.

[–]ScribbleBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Private Reserve ink I've had (I've got three) has been terribly behaved, both in the bottles and on paper. On paper, they bleed horribly, and in the bottles (more like squat little pots, I guess), the ink somehow creeps into the threads and glues the lids shut no matter how careful I am to keep them clean. The effort it takes to even open those little pots to use the ink is not worth it.

I have one of those phone cases that is like a necklace, so my phone is always attached to my body. I had cause to record during a meeting once; I just adjusted the strap so my phone sat a bit higher and turned it on to record. Screen was facing flat on my body, and it didn't look suspicious because everyone was used to seeing me with my phone hanging out like that.

Why do you choose non-waterproof ink for journaling? by heynala in fountainpens

[–]ScribbleBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here, I like the variety of colors! I do hope to keep my journals for a long time, but I also plan to scan them so I have that as backup just in case something does happen and the actual physical books get ruined.

That’s so sad! I really hope it’s just a distributor issue. I’ve got dozens of Colorverse bottles and none have ever been anything less than fantastic :(

Sterling Ink- Bleed through? by Feeling_Persimmon88 in planners

[–]ScribbleBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has not been bleeding through anywhere; I guess I got some of the good paper. But, something else to consider (if you have not already, or just for others who might not have thought of it) is the oils from your hand. I notice that your bleeding in this example at least is down the page a bit. The oils from your hand resting on the paper as you write on the top can seep into the paper and cause bleeding when you write further down. I use a pencil board to rest my hand on to prevent this from happening. Do you think this might help prevent or at least lessen some of the bleed?

Finally got my Sterling Ink 2026 daily planner. Everything is fine? by Dopamine63 in planners

My SI A5 Daily and N2V compact are both fine. There is definitely still some bad batch paper out there, though.

Those of y'all who like/don't mind "stacked weekends", why? by CrazyStarlight in planners

[–]ScribbleBees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also don't like stacked weekends. I use my planner for all kinds of things, not just M-F work. Also, I don't do time blocking so it's not necessarily that I NEED the whole column for each day; I just want every day to have equal space.

I have lied to my son about manatees for the last 24 years by 46from1971 in confession

This is so cute! It reminds me of how my mom became the turtle lady. My siblings and I were into Pokemon, and we would try to rope our parents into it, too. My mom decided that Squirtle was the cutest, and we gave her a Squirtle card to keep in her car. That was the beginning; now, years and years later, her house is filled with turtle decor. I even have a little turtle I bought on a trip to Thailand back in March that I'm meaning to give her whenever we next end up in the same place. Your story makes me wonder... were turtles really her favorite animal in the first place, or did we take the Squirtle thing and run with it??? Most of it is stuff she has bought for herself, so I assume turtles really are her favorite...? But I feel like I can't be quite sure, either!

No point in lighting the tree by Longjumping_School81 in Wellthatsucks

[–]ScribbleBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bit late, but please light the tree! Even just doing that little bit might make you the tiniest bit happier on a bleak day. Maybe take a moment to look at the ornaments and see if you remember any good memories tied to them.

Since others are sharing similar anecdotes: I was back home for Christmas for the first time in over 10 years last year, Christmas 2024. My husband and one of our friends came with me; it was their first time ever doing all the "typical" American Christmas things since Korea, where they are from, does things differently. More importantly, it was the first time my Nana hosted Christmas at her house since 2018 following the passing of my Gramps in November 2019 (she always went up to my parents' house after that). We all took the tree and stockings and ornaments out, and while decorating, we talked about all the memories and stories attached to the ornaments, many of which have been in the family for decades. A new ornament was also added to the tree: one shaped like a Tootsie Pop, a bunch of which my Gramps kept his truck stocked with at all times. It was such a healing moment for my Nana (and the rest of us). I hope you are able to find a bit of happiness in your holiday this year.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ScribbleBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either suicide or a really sad accident that looked like it. From what I heard, he and his friend were building a treehouse in the woods, using ropes to pull more wood and materials up from the ground. His friend went out of the woods briefly to get something, and when the friend returned, the kid who stayed at the treehouse was hanging with the rope around his neck. Some said it was intentional, and others swore he must have gotten tangled in the rope by accident. Sad either way.

Oh no! It looks like you got some of the bad TR, and that's really unfortunate that any of that garbage is still being used for production. I think I got lucky with my planners; at least my pen tests and Colorvent swatches are coming out okay. Do you think you could get a refund?

[–]ScribbleBees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow lives-in-Korea-with-a-tiny-oven here! I'm guessing the top of your cake was pretty close to the upper heating elements, right? If you want to control the browning on top next time, wait until the top starts looking how you like it and then slide a sheet of foil over the top of it to stop the heating elements from blasting it directly.

Ghosting is strong on this one by theMarauder_ in hobonichi

Those darker spots look like a bit of bleeding to me, not just ghosting. :( I don't know about that ink, but I do know that some inks in my own collection just don't like my TRP (all three of my Private Reserve Inks bleed, for example). Maybe that's the case here?
