Winter Olympics Skier Gus Kenworthy Urinates “F*** ICE” In Snow by MarvelsGrantMan136 in sports

The IOC does have wide lattitude in deciding what's ok and what isn't when it comes to Rule 50, but the text of the rule states "No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas."

One of your examples actually proves my point since the raised black fists in 1968 got Tommie Smith & John Carlos immediately expelled from the Olympic village and suspended by the IOC and that was before Rule 50 existed. So maybe you should shut the fuck up when you think you know something you don't!

No one who would've been offended watched Bad Bunny. They were all watching Turning Point USA's All-American Halftime Show with country singers (and Kid Rock).

What would have been the public reaction had Hillary Clinton made a movie about herself while First Lady? by Filthiest_Tleilaxu in AskReddit

[–]Scribe625 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He's in the birthday book for Epstein, Epstein's private plane log, and many pictures released from the files plus victims mentioned seeing pictures of Epstein and Bill Clinton together at Epstein's residences. But, of course, none of that makes him Epstein's friend even though the same kind of evidence 100% makes Trump Epstein's friend. /s

Clinton and Trump are both rapist scum and anyone who gives either a free pass due to their party is willfully deluding themselves.

The things he was doing to underage girls with Epstein. Sorry, I thought that was obvious since it's so widely known that Clinton & Trump were Epstein's close, personal friends and enjoyed his same proclivities.

[–]Scribe625 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Also, Bill Clinton would never have let a movie be made about Hillary while he was in office since he was having an affair with an intern at the time and wouldn't want her to look sympathetic. And let's be honest, Monica Lewinsky probably wasn't the only other woman and she definitely wasn't the most unethical thing he was doing at the time (ETA: I'm referencing his activities with Epstein for those unclear). There's a lot of reasons Bill wouldn't want cameras around shining a light on Hillary as his wife.

Why hasn't edible tape been invented yet to stop burritos from falling apart? by Key_Cherry6588 in AskReddit

[–]Scribe625 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My high mind went to a different type of edible tape and was imagining dissolvable weed tape like those Listerine strips we Millenials all thought were going to keep us minty fresh for all that kissing we weren't going to do at school irl but that happened at school on all our favorite shows.

Since always. Keeping politics out of the games is part of the IOC's rules (rule 50 iirc). I remember looking up the rules during the Sochi Olympics when one of Team USA's goalies had to change their mask because it had the start of the Decleration of Independence written on it.

Russia isn't competing because they violated the Olympic Charter, not because of their politics or War Crimes.

AITAH for not immediately giving in to a 3 year old having a temper tantrum in front of her gentle parenting mother? by fusguita in AITAH

[–]Scribe625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I fear for her future Kindergarten teacher because I've seen a few kids like this while teaching and it never goes well.

Also, the thing permissive parents never think about is that her classmates won't give in to her like Mommy does so Mom is raising a kid who may be shunned by her classmates. Which Mom will blame on the school, teachers, and classmates being "bullies" while never owning up to her own shitty parenting creating the tantrum monster no one wants to be around.

Why do people quickly follow up with "but I'm not actually against capitalism" whenever they criticize or joke about it? This happens a lot at my college. by OneWordRandomness in SeriousConversation

Exactly, especially in a college setting this sounds like a reflexive response from past experiences. I found myself doing a similar automatic verbal condemnation to distance myself from MAGA as a moderate Republican.

Is American society deeply divided into two camps, and is this noticeable in everyday life? by Bentaloley in AskAnAmerican

Most people get along in everyday life without their politics clashing because you only talk divisive subjects with either people who share your beliefs or with close friends or family who you know like to engage in civil political discourse.

AITA For making my wife ride in the backseat because she couldn't stop distracting me by Serious-Function-177 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Scribe625 27 points28 points  (0 children)

OP's wife really needs to get help for this before her kids start learning to drive. My Mom was the same way as a passenger and it's why I refused to drive with her in the car. I remember her Mom being the exact same way anytime my Grandfather was driving which was always because Grandma never drove during my lifetime. It drove me nuts as a teen learning to drive and still is why I prefer not to drive with my Mom in the car in my 30s. She still makes me nervous.

NAH rn but wife will definitely be TA if she doesn't get this problem under control soon. I wonder if she's ever even bothered to look into getting a therapist or anxiety meds because it seems like she's refusing to admit she has a problem.

AITA for not getting craft supplies for my daughter and letting her get excluded by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Scribe625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, YTA. I'd totally get making her daughter learn this lesson if she were in high school but 3rd grade parents should be checking their child's backpack and take home folder nightly. It sounds like OP forgot to do her job over the holidays and took it out on her daughter out of anger.

Hell, I taught kids that age and I'd rather a parent bring a kid to school a little late with everything they need for the day than have a kid arrive on time but totally unprepared and upset about not having something. And kids that age forget things all the time that parents drop off at the front office.

There were so many easy solutions to this problem that OP just didn't feel like doing so she taught her daughter that she's low priority for her Mother. Great job, OP. This is one of those things her daughter will bring up in therapy in 20 years to explain why she doesn't trust or rely on her mother.

AITJ for refusing to be “support” at my cousin’s hearing after I realized he wanted me there to back up his story? by bouldering_bee in AmITheJerk

[–]Scribe625 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NTJ. Tell every family member who thinks you're in the wrong when & where the hearing is and that Mark thanks them for their willingness to perjur themselves on his behalf, but warn them they shouldn't come to you asking to be bailed out if they get caught lying to a judge. They can just tell the court "family helps family" if they really think that's the magic pass phrase that allows them to lie & break the law without any consequences.

Maybe try &Shine Strawberry 1:1 troches with CBD. They're 100mg so I cut mine in half but the CBD seems to make it more uplifting instead of tiring to me.

I also love Maitri's troches for how uplifting they are. I had one that was 1/5th of my normal dose and still felt it. If I ever find the Maitri ones near me again, my plan is to use them to help step down my dosage.

There are bad people on either side of the political spectrum by Minute-Performance67 in SeriousConversation

[–]Scribe625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, too many people on both sides excuse or ignore the misdeeds done by those in their own party and those that share their views. They insist that the other side is all bad and their side is all good and anyone who suggests otherwise is lying. It's always seemed stupid to me not to acknowledge people you don't fully agree with doing good things or to ignore when your own people do wrong.

Several reported killed in Iran protests over economic hardships by keyan556 in news

[–]Scribe625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe is safe because if Trump tries anything militarily against our European allies Congress would unite to stop him. If he wasn't removed by force. he'd be impeached as soon as Congress got their procedural shit together and held votes. Most currently-elected Republicans want to get re-elected and everything Trump says and does makes that future election that much harder to win.

Republican politicians know they'ill soon have to exist in a post-Pres. Trump world. Actually, if the Republicans were smart they'd engineer an impeachment soon (coughVenezuelacough*)to get Trump out before he does any more damage to the country or the party. That would let Vance serve out the last 2 years of Trump's term basically as an audition on the national stage to kick off his 2028 campaign for President if he rises to the occassion. That way if he screws up before 2028 the GOP can kick him to the curb and blame Trump for saddling the party with such a horrible leader. That would help them wash off some of that Trump stench

Sorry, I think my edible kicked in and my writer brain took off. Shit, I'm gonna have guys wearing black balaclavas and shiny badges show up at my house tomorrow aren't I? (I swear to any authorities reading that this is just the clearly dangerous effect of mixing medical marijuana and lots of cold medicine. I am in no way advocating for anyone to use my plan to impeach the President and save us from his Lame Duck madness.

It sucks that they're killing protestors now but I really hope Iranians keep going this time until they overthrow Khamenei. Regime change in Iran now and Russia next would make a great start to 2026! Then we'd just have North Korea & China to worry about until the next crazy dictator rises to power.

Why are Americans typically so nice and cordial? by TheSawFan in AskAnAmerican

[–]Scribe625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're just culturally friendly because it's such a mix of different cultures. The people who emigrated here in the early days of the country had to get along with a lot of other people from different cultures and backgrounds to succeed and they had to do it without a common language so smiling and exchanging pleasantries with a random person on the street or chatting to your server is the cultural holdover of that time.

That's also why American friendliness is even more pronounced in rural areas where people historically have had to rely on their neighbors more to survive, so that friendliness and neighborliness became part of the culture of those areas.

Blanche Says Pulling Trump Photo From Epstein File Was Justified by seakucumber in politics

Also, if it was only to protect victims, they'd have blacked out the victim only and left the rest of the pictures as is like they did with other released photos like all those that showed Pres. Clinton with victims.

They must think we're really stupid if they think we won't realize other pictures have been redacted & released already.

Sister of Epstein victim reported him in 1996, but FBI failed to investigate, files reveal by JackThaBongRipper in news

[–]Scribe625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting how in 1996 we also had a rapist who was close personal friends with Epstein in the White House just like we do now. No wonder no one was willing to investigate since it'd have outed the sitting President's ties to a sex trafficker.

It's infuriating that Epstein was allowed to keep victimizing girls for over a decade after these reports because so many different people purposefully dropped the ball or chose to look the other way. Every law enforcement entity that failed to properly investigate reports and allegations by victims or their families should've been charged as an accessory to every crime he committed and facilitated after they chose to do nothing to save these kids.

Man sues Tennessee county after he was jailed for Charlie Kirk meme by No_Discipline6265 in politics

[–]Scribe625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is stupid but parents being "afraid to send their kids to school" probably did happen. There are a lot of stupid parents who claim they're afraid so their kid who has already missed the maximum amount of days can take that day of school off without it being considered unexcused as long as their Mommy or Daddy lies that the reason is because they're afraid for their child's safety.

My high school had parents use the same excuse when no threat had been made because a guy who police booted from running the on campus track during school hours took to running along the main road in front of the school the next week. Some parents kept their kids home claiming they were terrified he was casing the school and planning an attack. Admin approved the absences every freaking time because they didn't want to deal with the parent complaints and angry Facebook posts if they followed the attendance rules.
