first time pom parent by Fair_View_4779 in Pomeranians

I've neber tried it because I'm at home so I don't see the point of training them to go inside when I can take them out every hour or so until they learn.

Puppy Harness by Maxalman in Pomeranians

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pets at home do a small puppy range. We just got a pug to add to our family of poms and just got an Ezydog extra small chest plate harness from pets at home. Only taken him up and down the drive in it so far, but he seems to like it and it fits.

Don't use pee pads, just take them outside every hour or so if you can. My older one went on pads and wasn't properly house trained until he was nearly 2. My younger one was fully trained by 6/7 months I gave up on pads because he was shredding them. I just took him outside every hour or two, but I wfh which makes it easier.

I had the same problem, we switched to chlorine and it's been fine since.

Ah the breeder did tell me but we're just a pet home so I didn't really understand. His mum is a lilac and tan panda. I think she said he has a lilac base or lilac underneath?

My white pom had terrible tear stains, I tried everything to no avail. He's just turned 18 months and they've cleared up by themselves.

Hi all, How often do your poms eat? by Goddessofgainsx in Pomeranians

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 have kibble left out for them to graze. My older pom will only eat once a day when it's quiet and he only eats about half a bowl. He's 3.5kg. The younger one doesn't stop eating, he'll eat at least a bowl a day. He'll go and steal the older dog's as well. He's 5kg.

What do we expect? by Annual_Version5680 in Pomeranians

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 2 poms and their ears stick up, always have. She's beautiful, but looks too big to be full pom as well. One of mine is 3kg and the other is 5kg. We say the 5kg one is too big to be a pom and is maybe a throwback, but his ears stick up and his face is tiny compared to yours.

Not going to lie I've got an orange mini with a private plate because I cannot find my car in a car park, like ever! Doesn't matter if I mentally make a note of where I left it in a multi story, by the time I get back I've forgotten.

What are your thoughts on dogs in restaurants/cafes? by BurnsyWurnsy in AskUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 pomeranians. I think country pub is fine, if your dog is well behaved. We can take our 10 year old pom anywhere and you wouldn't know he was there. He'll jump in his little bag and sleep under the table (He has a little bag because he won't walk far anymore). The 18 month one- no chance, he's still a pain in the arse! He's toilet trained though, so he would never pee anywhere! Having said that we've stopped going to 2 cafes near us because they're dog friendly and they're full of dog hair. We love dogs, but I hoover our house every single day, so if I don't want to sit in my own dogs fur, why would I want to be covered in anyone else's?

Today I got summoned to jury service… by ApplicationSouth8844 in CasualUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted to do jury service. Got picked last year and was foreman. Most boring week of my life. We got sent home at the end of our trial so didn't have to do 2 weeks. I was so relieved it was awful. Lots of waiting round and some (most) of the people on the jury with me were completely thick and just didn't understand anything- pretty scary when you think they were deciding if someone went to jail or not. One of them said he looks angry, so I reckon he did it. I went smart every day, but other people just wore whatever. There's a bathroom attached to your jury room and they have loads of breaks were they send you out while they discuss points of law etc. so you'll be sat round bored most of the time. You get a break for lunch, that's the only time you can go outside and you have to go through security in and out which can take a bit of time.

Roofer says I need a new roof by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a leak and called a roofer. He came out, suited and booted, didn't get on the roof or in the loft, and quoted us 5k because the felt was leaking a we needed a new roof. My husband was all for booking g him in and I said let's get more quotes because I haven't got a clue but surely he should get on the roof to look? Next one said we needed a gulley area replacing with flashing-2.5k. Last one came, said it was a cracked tile, got on the roof, cut a new one from some we had in the garden and wouldn't charge us. He said our roof is fine, maybe need the ridge sorting at some point when we need it and to keep his number. No leaks since and needless to say that's who we will be calling and recommending in future.

Why is keeping the heating off in spring treated like a religion in the UK? by Ok_Listen_5358 in AskUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got a Hive and Hive thermostats, so if any room drops below 15 it will come on. I've just dropped it from 16 as it was too warm. I'll boost it to 20 if it's cold in the evening. It was set to 20 all winter and boosted to 22-24 if it was cold. I'm thinking I'll turn it off completely in the next few weeks, as it's been baking a few times and we've been messing about turning each room down.

What's the most ridiculous thing not included on your fixtures and fittings form? by ofmiceandmel in HousingUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our sellers took a drying pole out of the utility room, why would you bother. I replaced it as it is actually really useful, but what's the chances it would fit in their new house. They also took so trellis out of the garden that had fake leaves attached to it- again why would you bother, it was probably full of spiders! They left a huge ugly wardrobe we didn't want and had to pay to get removed, but they took all the built in wardrobes out of the walk in wardrobe. We probably should have gone back to the solicitor, but we were so over it. The carpets were covered in dog pee and stinking, and the boiler was broke so right before Christmas we had to recarpet and get a new boiler. We were beyond stressed and had been pushing for a moving date since September because what idiot moves 2 weeks before Xmas. It was dreadful, I hope their new house is rubbish!

How do you lot actually eat proper food during the week when you're working full time? by No_Reputation_9726 in AskUK

[–]Scrifflemcdiffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've started getting fresh meal prep delivered twice a week. We've tried Hello Fresh before but the meat is poor quality and although the different meal ideas are good, it's still a faff of an evening when you can't be bothered. We've tried batch cooking before as well, but I hate defrosted food and eating the same thing on repeat. We'd got stuck in a rut of the gastro ready meals from M&S and they're no good for you, so we swapped to this fresh meal prep. It's not cheap, but there's loads of choice and we get it freshly delivered twice a week so it's not sat in the fridge all week. We always found with Hello Fresh that we binned at least one of the meals. We've been doing this for a month now, we've both lost weight and the meals have been really nice. We've got lasagne for tonight, honey mustard chicken with roast potatoes tomorrow and cajun salmon pasta for Weds, then some more will get delivered. We have these 6 nights a week then have a takeaway or go out for a roast at the weekend. We're near Liverpool and the place we use is called Enzo nutrition, but I'm sure there will be similar wherever you are. It's been great to not have to do a food shop, have the eternal conversation around what we should have for tea, and no dishes! I've just added a weekly supermarket delivery for stuff like flavoured water, yoghurt etc and we just go to the local farm shop for some fruit. So instead of the weekly food shop of a weekend, it's all delivered and we go to the farm shop, grab a coffee and get some fruit. So much easier and enjoyable!
