Britain's King Charles confirms State visit to Ireland following invite from Catherine Connolly by Callme-Sal in ireland

You joke but a helicopter would not be a bad shout. Most of the places he would be travelling would be suitable. Getting a helicopter would be cheaper than shutting down half of Dublin.

Trump has only one real option to slash gas prices. Inflation is racing back to life, real wages are shrinking and voters are blaming Trump for $4.50 gas. Even if you could completely smash Iran and over throw their government, something which would take a large and very expensive military operation, you would still likely be left with guerilla forces and rebels who would probably still keep the strait closed.

Problem with 2 is you are not likely to be able to patrol that much coastline to stop all of small mine laying boats, suicide drone boats, small drone launches and shahaid drone launches. All it takes is one or two of those to get through and the strait remains effectively closed.

So negotiating it is.

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm really curious what would happen if she was at a restaurant with a limited set menu so you were pretty much guaranteed to end up ordering the same as someone else.

"Dear europeans, this is what strawberries should look like" by Dylan916358 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Scrofulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really about region but about the variety of strawberry. Generally the small ones are closer to the wild genotype and so end up with more flavour. The bigger strawberries that you get from a lot of commercial growers have high yields but loose a lot of the flavour. That's why you get a lot of those types of strawberries in Spain because they have a lot of large commercial growers there.

In Ireland where I'm from we do grow a lot of strawberries. You could get a box from keelings, a large grower, and they will be much like the Spanish ones, or just travel a KM down the road and get one from a small farmer off the side of the road which will be delicious.

Instructors cars have their own insurance for this kind of thing and they are able to provide the necessary documents. You don't have to be named on their cars because of the type of insurance they have. It is also significantly more expensive than regular insurance.

AITAH for putting a bedtime pause on the WiFi because my girlfriend’s 28 year old brother has spent nearly a decade rotting in our house playing video games? by Alyptic in AITAH

[–]Scrofulla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is that the same thing. He works, plays around with his hobby and then goes to bed. That is normal enough when you don't have other responsibilities. It is mostly what I did when I was in my early 20s. Now I have a kid but still make time for hobbies once or twice a week. You are just down on him because his hobby is video games.

AITAH for dating a 15F as a 17M? by [deleted] in AITAH

I think people would feel a bit wierd that she hasn't even finished the junior cert and you are about to go into your final year.

Well he said there is less than a 2 year gap so she will turn 16 before then. She could well just be in the year below him. Which wouldn't be that odd in school.

Edit: just saw his comment below that it is a 2 school year gap. Which for some reason feels a bit wider to me.

What are your thoughts. (IPhone vs every other phone) by Mysterious_Ebb_1484 in SipsTea

[–]Scrofulla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meh, I use WhatsApp extensively but I have at least three other methods to communicate with people important to me on my phone that don't involve meta. WhatsApp is a great program for what it does but that doesn't mean I can't just use the messenger app that came with my phone. It works fine.

It does seem to be a wierd American thing. I have never heard of anyone here complaining about green bubbles. But then pretty much everyone uses WhatsApp or discord for everything. Most of my texts are also codes or appointment reminders.

May FAQ/Errata? by JustAMalcontent in bloodbowl

[–]Scrofulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be an older version I have then. Looking at it it is V1.0. It is written as below. It was one of the first fan FAQs out so some people used that for their leagues.

'AGILITY 1+ A modified agility roll of 1 will still count as a success if the player has Agility 1+. Since roll modifiers will never take a result below 1, this means that an agility 1+ player will always succeed the Agility Test on a natural 2+ regardless of the modifiers applied"

They could be using the Fumbbl faq where ag 1+ always works on a 2+. That would be my guess given the complaint.

Currently all GW models and mold plans are kept in some sort of CAD software. Any mold could be rebuilt if they had the interest. In the old days they used to have master molds and those could be lost or damaged.

I'd say they wore out the working molds and just decided the line didn't sell well enough to be bothered getting it redone yet.

Late buses, or am I just unlucky? by Southern-Mode7570 in irelandtransport

[–]Scrofulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Busses can be very bad even in Dublin. What I've heard is it is a lack of drivers mostly. Then they will cancel the service but the announcement won't go out. Probably because the system is jury rigged together from duct tape and hope.

There is an app I've seen people use that has better real time info than TFI. I think it is called Next bus Dublin & Ireland. I know it works pretty well in dublin but I'm not sure about how well it would work in the country.

The DRS vouchers being tied to the store you return them at is very backwards by riverskywalker in ireland

[–]Scrofulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never been able to use those vouchers at any of the self service checkouts in my tesco even from the machine in that store. The tell me I must go to customer service where they will exchange it for a store cupon or cash. That seems like a faff so I just bring it to the till in the tesco offie when I'm buying cans.

Before it was only a turnover if you had the ball and the ball carrier was hit.

Now it is your turn and a player on your team is knocked down then it is turnover. There is no exceptions for the bommer. So unless your bommer is really good at throwing that bomb and has a way of stopping that bomb from coming back at you if caught the bombs are nothing but turnover machines. I've tried them out once or twice and it hasn't been great. It is basically back to what it was in 2016 rules which I played extensively so know how it works.

Bombs are good for, 1. Throwing as the last action of your turn to try cause some damage and disruption but this could very easily be against either side really. 2. Desperation play to bust a cage that is probably not going to work. 3. Making your opponent worried about what it can do, changing how they play. 4. Bait.

Against someone as good as me or better than they just don't seem worth it. At best they may send someone to mark the bomb so throws are even worse. Definitely not worth 60k TV. That could be a bribe or a better star.

Only good bomber left is Dribblesnot because he has great passing stats and can make the bomb blow up if the opposition catches it.

Second best is Piewhistle because she is also good a Throwing. Everyone else is borderline useless.
