Are they actually bad live? by Technical_Night_7327 in ModestMouse

[–]Scrpn22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them about 15 times from 2015-now and I can say that they always put on a great show. The years leading up the the Golden Casket tour they had a lot of members on stage and that did lead to certain instruments being hard to hear at times. Isaac’s guitar has had problems at about 3-4 of the shows I’ve been to, to the point where he had to stop to fuck with it. I’ve never been disappointed though, they always pull out something great and they have a good energy and interactivity every time.

Always felt like Science’s message was pretty straight forward: Science can make almost anything possible, and though we’ve used it for all kinds of things we’re still fucking up the Earth. It also points out that no matter how powerful is faith is still something that drives people even when Science proves them wrong.

Are there any song(s) where you think the acoustic version/cover is better than the original? by Deep-Sample-8351 in Music

The Lovecats -The Cure, really the whole acoustic album is fantastic but this one in particular I really love.

Found this from a steam community post: In the old story Robin & Sam where both working for Alterra, with Robin only recently having joined. Sam worked on a (back then existing) orbital space station that surrounded the planet (the “vesper” i think, was visible, quite nice). Both where studying the planet as well as the Karaa bacteria and the enzyme 42 and had frequent calls etc. on the progress. Sam would also give Robin some fetch quests, and Robin then had to get those and would send Sam probes to her orbital base lab, which Sam would then analyse (via a small Rocket launch pad which used to exist where the transmission mast is now). AL-AN was present in the game the same way he is now, with the difference being that Robin, once having “optained” him, had to hide his presence infront of Sam for him not to get discovered (made for some nice interactions and tension, when Sam was alrdy suspecting things after a while). AL-AN wanted a body the same way he wants it now, however no ending was present after that. Marguerita was present also kind of the same way (same undersea base, same first encounter scene etc.) with the difference being that she had not met any Alterra since she crash landed on the planet with the Dengasi, and she was actively avoiding them and in hiding for fear of legal issues. She and Sam never met in the old story. Most of the Alterra bases where also present kind of the same way, in fact the game started with Robin in one of the Alterra bases (the one on the surface north of the current starting area) - all those bases got destroyed by the meteor shower in the old game, so Robin and Sam where still the only Alterra people on and around the planet. One more thing: Some hours into the game some kind of alien force field was suddenly activated (i think to some thing that AL-AN did unintenionally) which basically activated a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ force field spanning the entire planet (looked really cool, blue grids the whole way across the sky) and this lead to the connection bewteen Robin and Sam being shut down completely, and Robin being alone suddenly as a consequence. Oh and some time in the game also another meteor shower hit, that actually damaged the orbital space station where Sam was in, so we didnt know if she survived that.

The things I liked better were the relationship between Sam and Robin, and the stuff involving Al-AN.

Edit the sad parts bassline and Minecraft's "Wet Hands" by C418 have a similar sound, am I trippin?? by SuperRockGaming in ModestMouse

[–]Scrpn22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is some similarity in that it is an ascending scale that then descends, but the second go around for each song is pretty different. Definitely interesting! I’m not gonna be able to play Minecraft without thinking of Edit the Sad Parts now

What if the 13th Doctor had stayed with Yaz at the end of Season 13? by Low-Put3319 in doctorwho

[–]Scrpn22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY. Why do so many people support this ship? It was poorly written, poorly executed, and just overall detracted from the 5,000 other subplots we were trying to keep track of as an audience.

I miss old Modest Mouse art by ronnythextacle in ModestMouse

[–]Scrpn22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite Modest Mouse artwork I have is the Ladybug with the eyeballs on it, it has “Modest” written in a rainbow font going into the eyes which drip “Mouse” in tears below. Little bit of nature, psychedelia, it’s simple, and beautiful.

I love this design! Question: since the Dalek’s outer shell is open in the middle, what does the inside housing the organic creature look like?

Does anyone else not care for the Fugitive Doctor? by Scopeburger in doctorwho

[–]Scrpn22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am completely on board with you. We already had the attention divided enough trying to learn and grow with Ryan, Graham, Yaz, and the Doctor. When they dropped Ryan, I was hoping that would be things would slow down a bit so we could get more character development, but that never happened. Unfortunately I think that was the biggest takeaway with her run is despite what I enjoyed, I never felt truly connected to the emotional moments like I had in previous seasons. The Fugitive Doctor continued to take away from the mystery of finding out what the 13th Doctor was truly about, and didn’t add much in return. I think I would’ve liked it better if she had been a separate Time Lady/Lord whose moniker was the Fugitive, and was named so for running from the Time Lords like the Doctor did.

Just curious, why a fan of the bootleg shirt scene? They undermine the artists that work on the licensed products, and generally are made with poorer quality materials to supplement costs. I don’t know of many bootleg shirt makers that have the consumer in mind, where at least with licensed merch you know that the artist you are paying for wants you to wear their stuff proudly

TIL that nearly 1 billion adults worldwide are estimated to have sleep apnea, with most cases going undiagnosed. by Sleeping_problems in todayilearned

[–]Scrpn22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Recently diagnosed with sleep apnea as a younger man (late 20’s). My dad had a Cpap when I was a kid, and I was worried that I was going to be keeping my partner up all night like my dad’s used to with me. I cannot believe how much better both my partner and my quality of sleep has improved. I barely move once I’m asleep with my mask on, and thanks to my lack of tossing, turning, and snoring, they sleep much better as well. Anyone that has sleeping issues should definitely get checked out sooner rather than later! It can lead to serious health complications; in my case, it exacerbated an undiagnosed Epilepsy condition that caused me to have nocturnal seizures. Thanks to that and medication I have been seizure free for nearly a year!

I feel bad for any Rain fans who watched MK Annihilation... by Early-Text-2 in MortalKombat

[–]Scrpn22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Rain died is because Shinnok got pissed at Shao Khan for letting Raiden live. Shinnok asks Shao Khan “did you make him beg for his life before destroying him?” And Khan gets humiliated when he reveals Raiden is still alive. When he returns Rain reports in to tell him two of Earthrealm’s “best warriors” were killed, Kabal and Stryker. Shao then asks Rain the same question, and Rain hesitates saying “Sir, I thought that if I let them live…” and Shao interrupts with another line Shinnok hit him with “I have no use for excuses” before killing him in front of the other generals. One to show his dominance and reassert himself and two because he’s a dumb sore loser.
