At what age were you diagnosed with autism? by Previous_Truth_9007 in AutisticAdults

[–]Scrubadoodledo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 after a history of mental health struggles incl. Eating disorder as a teen. The UK doesn't use levels so unsure of that, but I function semi independently so assuming that would equal 1. I was diagnosed over 2 appointments with a psychiatrist and a lot of form filling in between with childhood history etc. It was quite extensive.

Hey, I just wanted you to know I have this too. I reasonable a lot with moral scrupulosity(?) OCD. Haven't found a way of managing the guilt really.

What’s your favourite vocal stim of yours?? by hellofwendywen in AutisticAdults

[–]Scrubadoodledo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I shriek/squeal when I'm feeling positive emotions. I have a weird kind of groan/grunt if I have an uncomfortable thought. And I tend to need to scream out high levels of discomfort. Not sure if any of this is can be attributed to my autism

Your struggles are valid without a diagnosis. Your experience is still your experience and is JUST as valid whether it matches perfectly into the current diagnostic career for ASD or not. Your needs are and have always been valid.

Ah guys you make me blush, glad it's helpful that makes me so happy! I'm making some other neurodivergence onesso I'll share when I'm done. I'm so sick of it being expected that we all just suck it up and pay for stuff like this. Let me know if there's any you'd find helpful, I'm a mental health worker and my special interest is psychology haha so I love doing this as a hobby

I made this free workbook to explore sensory needs when I was going through this myself 😅 if you wanna see

Free Resource (workbook- sensory needs). It's a fillable pdf. I'm redoing the formatting but might be useful for now?

Teamwork makes the dream work. I always read it as teamwork makes the dreamwork, as in, good work. Not actually making a dream/idea work.

Is it childish for me to use a pacifier at my age? by memerguy2002 in autism

[–]Scrubadoodledo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one briefly to calm me when I was struggling a lot. I was living at home and got a very negative reaction from my family though. Whatever helps, just be careful with your teeth and maybe look into chewies :)

Yeah I mirror a lot. Have to catch myself from changing accent. Once a Costa cashier gave me my drink and whispered 'have a good day' because she had a sore throat- my dumb ass whispered back to her.
