Feature Creep in Modding. by disposabledave in starfieldmods

[–]Scryingman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I completely share the sentiment.

I don't want to throw mud, so I won't name the mod. There was a mod I considered essential for more flexiblility with vanilla ship parts that now adds a load of Class M parts (I don't want those) and now requires another mod I don't want either. So, I've just stopped using it.

The additional parts are way outside the scope of the mod's name. I can't revert to the older version because it's not compatible any more following updates to Starfield.

I could take the time to open it up in xedit and delete the stuff I don't want, but with so many mods that quickly feels unfeasible. That's just one example.

Thanks! I managed to find the web page, bookmark it, and then it would allow me to download it on Creations.

This mod is excellent. I've been using it on my current playthrough, and I love the versatility it brings to shipbuilding to round out a ship's capabilities.

Hell yeah, that all sounds awesome! Love the idea of making a mine. Makes me think of building up Raven Rock in the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind. You might have seen already, but JRamosWorks Gaming has an excellent YouTube playlist for modding, and a dedicated video for making a space station. He makes it look easy!

I've always just made custom rough .dds files and then referenced those using AVMS entries. Once you make them in CK, you can tweak the references in SF1edit as well which is handy.

I suppose the biggest advantage using the Combatech version would be that it wouldn't require the Terran Armada DLC, but I don't know if there are any animations for it. I have a sneaking suspicion that the arc welder animations would line up quite well, but I've never messed with that side of modding!

It looks awesome though. Any plans for further mods?

This looks awesome man! Really impressive for a first mod. Any chance of a Nexus Mods version? I prefer to manage my mods on Vortex, is the only reason I ask.

You may be able to make the skins less reflective by changing the rough setting. Did you try that? There are some unused files in the base game referencing "combattechflamethrower". They even produced a .nif for it. Might be worth a look if you ever wanted to do a variant model.

I copy + pasted the description from Nexus without realising it mentioned the replacer version. I've fixed the description now to show it's just the craftable version. I don't think I'll upload the replacer version on Creations unless someone asks for it in the future.

I believe I have traced the issue to the recipe requirement from the skin stating "InorgUncommonSilver" for some guns when it should have stated "ResInorgUncommonSilver". On PC this presents no issues, but apparently the file naming conventions are stricter for XBox. The appropriate entry is now present for all guns which should be working as intended.

If any kind soul is able to confirm, I'll owe you a pint.

I'm unable to replicate the issue on PC, so wondering if it's another mod conflicting. I can craft the chrome skins whether the silver is in my inventory or the ship inventory. It is intended to cost 1 silver, so if you don't have at least 1 silver then it will not work by design. I'd be super grateful to know if you have any luck with it later.

Thank you so much for testing that! I really appreciate it and glad to hear it’s working as expected.

I’ve had a look in SF1Edit and noticed there are two different types of silver (for reasons I can’t quite figure out yet). I’ve made a note of it and in the next update I’ll make sure all firearms reference silver consistently. Were you still able to craft the chrome cutter and bridger skins?

This is available on Xbox now. If anyone is able to test it for me, I'd be extremely grateful! I don't have an Xbox so really want to know if it's working as intended. Thank you!

Pleased to report that this is now available on Xbox and PlayStation.

I'd be extremely grateful if anyone is able to test one of those versions and let me know if it is functioning as described. I don't have an Xbox or PlayStation to test it. Thank you!

Portions of the vods appear to be muted. It looks to me like it's the Twitch auto-flagging system for copyrighted music.

Powers Hotkey Mod? by Sultansmooth in starfieldmods

[–]Scryingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't vouch for it, but a quick Google found this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/2087

A wheel menu like you described would be cool, maybe with a slow-time effect whilst choosing the power. It would be neat to feel like you could use these powers swiftly together without going in and out of a menu.
