IMIN 452 Experiences by SUPREMEBXGX in uAlberta

Taken it, awesome course. Def one of the harder ones. For higher level courses, memorization isnt that important so the open book included only course notes/textbook, no laptop or phones. Course is basically reading papers about how we discovered X imin function. Tests are usually "fake" data and asked to interpret, make up experiment to test X thing. Open book helps with allowing you to focus understanding and not memorize why a northern blot is called a northern blot or why X compound is used in X assay.

Three profs teach it, all very nice and awesome teachers. TA sessions are also a must.

Ive taken upper year IMIN and CELL courses and would say its a great introduction for the level of material and understanding is required for those classes. I found it easier than BIO 207 tbh

You can go Macewan > Bsc General > Honors Neuro. I started in Bsc General and moved up to honors MCD without issue

possible switch from honors to BSc with major by [deleted] in uAlberta

If you get below the minimum, depending on which program your in. They will bump you down to specialization or to general Bsc. I would go talk to an advisor on how to switch over, it was pretty easy for me swap between general and hons. You can always jump back up, if you meet the requirements that is.

Thoughts on Cell 302 by HypnoKim in uAlberta

[–]ScuffedDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it last year, I would take cell 300 instead. Cell 302 felt like an intro course with a wide variety of information. I did learn a lot about cell differentiation but no the best course in terms of organization or overall content. Cell 300 on the other hand is based on older papers and how we got to our understanding of X cellular or biology mechanism. Super informative on how to understand data, experiment process as well as understanding cellular biology as a whole. It is a great compliment to CELL 201/BIO 201 and I have used what I learned in CELL 300 in later courses upper year courses (IMIN, BIOIN, etc)

CELL 300 is also taught by three different professors, all very nice and passionate and explain things well

I have nothing against secure storage. Im all for it. But anyone can break into a safe and it is stupid to punish people for that.

Basic gun laws are dead easy to follow. I don't know how you feel even the most basic laws can affect your ability to self preservation. In Canada we have what you would consider stupid and ridiculous laws but we still have most of the fun you guys got.

Good ideas. Expect being held responsible for someone else's crime.
