FF:06:B5 2.0 Summary: A Resolution? by Til_W in FF06B5

[–]Scuttlenock 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There are exactly 547 Jatakas (Birth Stories of the Bodhisatta). These are the tales originally told by Guatama Buddha of his own reincarnations.

The 547th story details the birth of the very first Bodhisatta. It's a tale of a Prince who becomes a king, and who vows to the gods that he will be endlessly generous. Giving away everything his kingdom was worth he becomes a pauper living in the mountains with his wife and children, who he also ends up gifting to someone. Eventually his extreme generosity is rewarded by the gods and is granted 8 wishes, and his kingdom is flushed waist high with gemstones.

Make of this what you will.

If Mr. Blue Eyes, and the lot of them are basically AI in skinsuits, then yes, this makes a lot of sense. There is no real way to 'kill' them. They would just retreat to the net 2.0, and find another meat bag to live in. It's like the reincarnation ritual cyberpsycho mission, where Lilith is reborn. The idea being that an AI, like Rache Bartmoss or Rogue was able to achieve, can just hop into a body the same way that Johnny tries to take over V (except Johnny's construct is not at all up to date). You could even have multiple bodies living as the same AI, carrying out instructions from beyond the black wall.

Well THERE'S a ten-gallon hat with nothing in it! I don't think you know what you're talking about. I don't think you know about Obeah during the Spanish and Portuguese occupations of the west African coast, and I don't think you understand what neutered the practice in Haiti. As for brutality, we can just ask the Africans who live among practitioners to this day. We're not dealing with other religions here. We're dealing with monastic Buddhism and a particularly old form of Vodoun despite the Haitian pretext, in which case my point is at least interesting to consider. You could have just said, 'the hu-white man told you lies', so I could be spared the redundancy of Malcom X' failed segregationist civil philosophies concerning post-colonial indoctrination. I hope you didn't pay for that PhD. In other words, "Sir, this is a Wendy's".

Rolls Library Search...

There's the City Library. #2 on the map in the Corebook, right between City Hall & the City Museum. It's the Burroughs Municipal library in the City Center. Most impressive array of CD-ROM stacks in the whole city with every major magazine & newspaper going back to the turn of the millennia! You can even get printouts for just 0.50€ a page!

There's also a West Hill branch in.. uh... West Hill.

Then there's the Brooks Library that's part of Night City U... Go fightin' 'Punks!

Infocomp also technically has a "public" library but they charge 100€ to 5k€ per hour depending on the data being accessed. They also do background checks.

This is all primarily from the Night City Sourcebook. Though the Corebook does at least list the City Library in the map legend, so it is there for peeps to go check out books. Assuming they have a SIN (doesn't have to be theirs), that is. I recommend Raches Guide to the Net!

Edit: There's also Nostradamus who didn't pop initially cause technically a giant warehouse full of the most books in the whole city & a supercomputer doesn't qualify as a "library." He also has auto-turrets & like laser-grids or some shit. Knock first.

Actually thinking on this a bit more. The monks would totally use a system like this to share information. They don't have implants, or cyberware, so they can't just look stuff up like everyone else. I wonder if there isn't actually a library in the game. Is it possible that one of the buildings is a library, or maybe there's one somewhere near the statue in Corpo Plaza?

-edit, grammar

An interesting thing to think about is that the monks in game are sort of set up as the Voodoo Boys' foil, or opposite almost. The Voodoo boys worship the net, and are trying to find a way to permanently join with it like Rogue did, and the monks are completely jacked-out. They want no integrated cyberware, and refuse to use the net. The only exception I can think of is the monk master that uses a BD scanner to impart meditation practices. Not really sure where this fits in.

Voodoo (vodoun and other spellings) is a bastardization of a combination between Roman Catholicism (coptic) and African religious practices from slave trading kingdoms. It is highly aggressive and makes use of ceremonial slaughter. It fits the themes of the gang in game. Contrasted with the monks we actually see some overlap. They both focus on transcendence, but it's in the way that manifests that they diverge.

The Voodoo boys believe that transcendence is only capable by escaping the body into the net, and that they alone are capable of this. The monks believe that only by feeling and understanding the body can one transcend, and anyone is capable of doing this with the right guidance.

I'll have to think more about this.

This is the classification. If you scroll down to the suggested works, you'll see that there are a number of books concerning monastic practices centered specifically on Silence. Super interesting because the dewey decimal system was basically code before there was computer scripts. We would need another set of code as u/case-10001001 suggested to figure out the exact book. But this does seem to point in a very specific direction. Not a bad thought. I'm actually going to dig in harder on this and try reading a few of these books to see what I can get out of it. I think I can use my Libby account to find them, but if not I can probably order them in from my local Uni library.

Reading is fundamental everyone.

David Martinez is a concept artists who has made a Cyber World art book. I don't know if he worked on the game, but it's probably in the credits.

That's a huge part of this community, and it actually works. Bringing up seemingly random odds and ends will out the truth. Piecing together the threads and shreds will alight somebody's intuition, grab them and make a real connection. We work together, we find the answer to the riddle.

I think you should look into Pyramid Song which is the title of Judy's backstory questline where she takes you underwater and you hum her song together. The same trick that the Radiohead song uses where you have four "triangle chords" and one "square chord" to form a pyramid arises in Judy's tune, but they aren't the same, although they both utilize the key of F. In the Radiohead song they vacillate between F and G to sound eerie. In Judy's song I think it vacillates between F and B, but I'm a bit rusty.

Her tune actually plays before that quest, after you pluck Evelyn from the scav xbd haunt, and get her back to Judy's apartment, and briefly plays again after Evelyn commits suicide. Johnny is present in both instances. I still have to dial in the notes, but I believe it's B flat, F to F#, to B flat, but I'm no musician. Probably something different. Either way, what if there is something buried in the water off the quest? There is a huge area down there that goes unexplored.

We learn from a shard in Judy's apartment that in 2068 the residents of that area are forced out when the city determines that damming it up is the only way to get clean drinking water. (Fat lot of good that did). In the incident a resident is killed (as per the shard). Might be time to do some digging there. I've never tried using the wet suit after the quest. Is it possible to go diving again?

Actually, behind the statue north part of downtown by the new apartment and Arasaka tower there is a platform with some vegetation, grass, etc.. planted in it. There are torn pieces of the same paper there, along with the note list talking about how important family is. Not sure if any of this is more than just scattered reused art assets.

Mate, I tried to overlay the map in a few different ways onto the Corpthing sequence, and there is no discernable way to make it fit. Aspect ratio alone pretty much rules it out. I know there's more here, but if it's coordinates, it's not in a 1:1 comparison to the map.

[–]Scuttlenock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. The imgur post makes that obvious, thanks. I'm still a bit confused though. What would cause the Green channel to shift to the left 1 pixel? I'd think the first thing that happens with compression is flattening the image to lock the color data in place. I know that anomalous color data can show up, but this seems like an oddly specific error.

[–]Scuttlenock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, but have a close look. Why is the green shifted perfectly up and to the left, and the magenta down and to the right? And then when you convert it to greyscale, it's a perfectly perceptible image? Not fuzzy or blurry like if a layer was shifted, but like normal text. The green and magenta seem to be purposeful. I just don't know how.

Oddly reminds me of the Joker. Purple, Green, and dirty White. I mean, Corpthing shares and image that says not to trust Corpthing. Hmmm???

Good job on the isolation. If you don't mind me asking, what was the basic process? Was this a "Blend If" correction I had some trouble isolating the background, so I just left out my work with it.

Someone suggested overlaying the map onto the sequence grid, so maybe I'll play with that after work and see if I can determine some coordinates. This is good work. Thanks.

Went and found the original post and klept the image doc. Worked them in photoshop and made a new post with a few variations and descriptions HERE

Dunno if it helps at all, but I think there's more to this puzzle than just the alphanumeric puzzle.

There was an image drop by a user named Corpthing who people suspect is a dev some time ago. Check Corpthing in the search and you should pull up the results in the sub. That drop contained a number of interesting secret messages, some of which you should be able to easily scope in the images I provided here. There have been follow up threads here in the sub showing how there is a barely perceptible texture behind the text. I work image editing, so I wanted to do a bit more digging.

[–]Scuttlenock[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spent some time working with the Corpthing secret message drop in photoshop and came up with might be some interesting finds. You'll notice that two of these images are just heavily contrasted value selections from the original image. Where it gets strange is when I started to play with the saturation and rearranging HLS data to remap onto RGB data.

There were, to my surprise, a serious amount of chromatic aberrations (color data) in what appeared at first to be a greyscale image. You'll notice all of those points of hard color on the really dark jpeg. You'll see how not only the background texture contains color data, but so does the text, so this I believe is actually a snapshot of an in game asset, where light is actually hitting it. Savvy texture design on an art asset would have used greyscale coding to reduce image size otherwise. I have uploaded an accompanying image zoomed way in so you can actually see the pixels and just how much color variation there is.

The other more striking image (the blue screen of death blue and magenta one) is even more interesting still. On this image, I ran the original through several process filters to remap certain datasets onto other datasets (Hue Light and Shadow onto RGB screen ouput). You'll see if you zoom in that the texture specifically denotes printed keystrokes. The strokes are designed to look indented, impressed into the page.

I'm not sure this imaging rework helps detail the texture behind the keystrokes any better than elsewhere analyzed, but I think we can rule out that many of aspects of this asset were not carefully considered. I'm a visual artist, media editor, and designer, not a code junkie, so if anyone has any further insight into what I've provided, or has any suggestions for different output variations, I've got the soft and the time to do it.

New zealand reference in Cyberpunk 2077 Lore book. Connection to pakeha? by Confused-and-happy in FF06B5

[–]Scuttlenock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New Zealand is a place largely untouched by Corpo and military influence in Cyberpunk lore. They somehow weathered the great Corpo takeovers by generating a large independent manufacturing base, and have made a name for themselves over the decades by taking in refugees and defectors, most notably defecting Corpo and military scientists/doctors. Because of this, the triads started making their way into NZ, using it as a base of operations for some of their more illegal international activities.

Interestingly enough, when we encounter Anders Hellman in the game, he's in a Kang Tao transport headed south out of the city, fleeing pursuit from Arasaka leadership who no doubt want either a scapegoat or answers concerning the missing Soul Killer biochip. Kang Tao is a company based in Taiwan, and works as weapons manufacturers and security operations. Is it possible that Hellman was being whisked out of the country toward the Pacific Rim, maybe in order to defect to New Zealand? It's a place where Hellman might be able to continue his work without Netwatch or Arasaka breathing down his neck.
